Thistle Hill is a beautiful home with a great view of the Green Mountains. This is the second time we have stayed here and we would definitely return if we ever come back to Vermont.
We enjoyed our stay at Thistle Hill!! Cheryl and Tuerk were wonderful hosts and provided great recommendations! The house was great and had an amazing view. Highly recommend staying here!
The house was exactly what we were expecting. It’s furnished nicely with all the upscale kitchen and bath amenities you could need. The fire pit adds to the whole ambience. The beautiful location is quiet and relaxing yet it’s an easy 20 minute ride into Woodstock for shops and restaurants. We hiked and even took a cooking class at King Arthur Bakery in Norwich! There was plenty to do around the area. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
My fiancé and I recently enjoyed a 5 night stay at Thistle Hill. First, let me say that you will not find more warm, helpful and responsive hosts than Tuerk and Cheryl. They were so accommodating both before and during our trip. A special thank you to them. As far as the property, you won’t find a more spectacular view, and to wake up and see the mountains first thing is a special treat. You’re even surrounded by nature in the modern downstairs bathroom. As we were celebrating our engagement and mainly went to Woodstock each night for dinner (about a 25-minute drive), we can’t speak of cooking at the place. But as far as enjoying a relaxing place to stay, situated right in the heart of the mountains, you won’t find better views or better hosts. My fiancé and I truly enjoyed our stay.
My husband and I stayed at this property for a little over a week. We were there for our son’s wedding and were joined for the weekend by our two other grown kids. There was plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen is high end and well stocked. The bathrooms are beyond spacious. My highest praise, though, is for the spectacular covered front porch with views of the Green Mountains. We spent much of our time enjoying the comfortable porch furniture while watching the weather roll in over the mountains — coffee and clouds. Highly recommended for couples and families.
This is an exceptional property, in a remote and beautiful location in south central VT. The home is elegant, from the architectural details to the furnishings. It is cozy (including good beds with beautiful linens) and well equipped (it has a great kitchen!). It is ideal for 2 couples and up to 4 young children. The owners are generous and responsive. A property manager nearby is available by text. We can't wait to return.
We had a great stay at Thistle Hill. The house is comfortable, well equipped, well maintained, and the views are gorgeous! We were looking for a quiet place to escape to and we found it here.
My husband and 3yo daughter just had a tough time saying bye after 5 days at Cheryl’s. We have stayed at MANY rental properties and honestly this might have been one of our favorites. With the fireplace and breathtaking views of snow-covered trees out every window, it’s even more cozy and inviting in real life than in the photos. The upstairs bedroom was super comfy and our daughter loved taking her pick of the twin beds. The kitchen was outfitted with little perks like All-Clad pans, Le Creuset pots, Williams-Sonoma baking sheets. We spent our time hanging at home or heading a half-hour west to ski at Okemo or north to visit Woodstock. Closer by, the Brownsville Butcher & Pantry was a frequent stop for gourmet groceries, sandwiches, and an impulse chocolate pecan pie purchase. Cheryl was incredibly responsive, detailed, and positive in all of her responses to my too-frequent queries for recs or instructions. We hope to visit again!
I hesitate to write this review only because I'd love to keep this a hidden secret, but that would not be fair to deprive others of this beautiful place. My family just came back from Thistle Hill and can't say enough about the location, the beautifully designed home, the furnishings / amenities, and the tremendously helpful hosts. We usually use VRBOs as home base for other activities, but this place had all we needed to have fun all day with kids. In no particular order: 1) the HUGE sledding / skiing hill 2) the outdoor patio and fire pit 3) super comfortable lounging / reading areas 4) awesome cook's kitchen 5) soaking tub 6) the vista. The driveway up to the home is very steep, but it is well plowed and accessible with any reasonable AWD car and decent tires. Great location that is not too far from Woodstock, Quechee, Ludlow, and Hanover. I highly recommend the Brownsville Butcher and Pantry for delicious provisions and take-away. Lastly, I can't say enough about how Cheryl made us feel welcome, informed, and excited to stay at their beautiful place. Thanks, The Itoh family
Turk and Cheryl’s home in West Windsor is truly a luxurious country hideaway. Located at the top of what they have named Thistle Hill, the house has incredible views of the mountains beyond. Notwithstanding its country location, it’s no more than a half hour from numerous attractions including Billings Farm and St. Gaudens National Historic Site. Would return in a heartbeat.
Beautiful, comfortable house with a can't-be-beat location. The view is stunning, the home contemporary and inviting, close to local stores and restos. If you're looking for a very peaceful and authentic Vermont stay, can't go wrong here.
Have only positive things to say about the property and stay. The house was extremely clean, well stocked, had great internet for our "work-cation", and tremendous views from the front deck. Host communication was great in advance, and we had zero issues the entire time while on the property. Really enjoyed the outdoor fire place and it was nice that the hosts included more than enough matches, firewood, etc. for our full week there.
The house is beautifully appointed and very relaxing. The outside porch was a surprising bonus and we found ourselves spending lots of time there enjoying the spectacular views. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return.
We just spent a restful week at this charming Vermont house perched on top of a hill near West Windsor. The house is perfectly equipped for a getaway in the beautiful woods of central VT. Okemo and Killington are a short drive away but the house managed to stay very private and is nothing like staying near a mountain resort. We appreciated the updated decor, the main room with fireplace, a large and well equipped modern kitchen, a convenient outdoor patio and the great view from the top a hill. Owners are very communicative and made us feel welcome. Highly recommended for families or small group.
This is probably the best rental property in the Woodstock area. It's extremely private with great vistas and the design is both functional and casually sophisticated.
