Great stay

What a Northwoods gem! This was our second stay at Sue's cabin and we will be back again! Fishing was great, the lake was quiet, the location is perfect. Very secluded but close enough to run in to town for necessities.

Quiet spot for fishing/relaxation

Overall, it was a great stay! The cabin was clean and cozy, even better than in the pictures. Kitchen and grill were well stocked with all the basic cooking utensils and dishes, etc. The lake itself is beautiful and quiet with only a handful of homes. It's also loaded with fish (bluegill, crappie, bass). The canoes and kayaks on site were a great bonus. Outdoor area and fire pit were also very pleasant, although the mosquitoes were pretty aggressive, as expected. The owner lives on site about 30 yards away from the cabin, but maintained privacy during our stay. Was quick to answer any questions and was overall very friendly and accommodating. Only downsides were that guests were required to bring their own bedding and carry out their own trash. And, as others have mentioned, the driveway is an issue. Would not recommend for vehicles with low ground clearance. Overall, a wonderful option for a quiet getaway!

Gorgeous Property

My family and I had a terrific stay at Susan's place. Check-In was a breeze and the location is stunning. The drive in to the cabin is an adventure but it is worth it. Fishing is great and the cabin has everything you could need.

North Woods Paradise

I’ve stayed in several cabins Up North over my lifetime, and this is the best one! It’s more beautiful, indoors and out, than photos can show. It’s immaculate, spacious, yet perfectly comfortable. It’s wheelchair friendly so everyone can feel right at home. We felt like we had the whole lake and woods all to ourselves. Sue is an excellent host! She even provided us with extra peanuts to feed the chipmunks, who will eat right out of your hand. The last bit of road on the way to the cabin is rough, but worth the journey. Once you get there, you’ll never want to leave, anyway! We’ll be going back as soon as we can.

Fathers Day Weekend

Enjoyed this weekend getaway with adult children. Beautiful place and plenty of room for everyone. Had fun fishing even though we did not catch anything. Canoed/kayaked to Big Crooked Lake loved the enchanting connection to lake. The weather was a little rainy and chilly but the gnome search and hide kept us all entertained! The road in is a little challenging but once at hummingbird Haven you do not want to leave!

Unbeatable beautiful, peaceful lake views. Great cottage space. Owner was super nice and accommodating. A little bit remote from other area activities/attractions ( which was exactly what I was looking for).

Lovely cabin

We stayed at Sue’s cabin for 3 nights. Such a lovely place. It has 6 beds, liss of fun water stuff to keep you busy and is in a remote spot away from others. The lake is quiet. The number of hummingbirds saw is unbelievable. The cabin smelled so good, was super clean and just a lovely home away from home. We will be back.

Peaceful retreat

Sue’s cabin is a perfect getaway. The location is beautiful and removed from the typical up north hub bub. Views of the lake from the cabin are so relaxing. The lake is lovely for swimming and paddling and the Lilly pad, dock and swimming platform are all great. We appreciated being able to shift into 4-wheel drive on the long driveway. The kitchen is well stocked and bathrooms are clean and comfortable. Sue is a great communicator.

Calm and secluded

Cabin was awesome with every amenity needed for a comfortable stay. Lake was perfect for kayaking, swimming, and fishing. Make sure to know your directions before getting close. Google maps sent us to the wrong address on the other side of the lake. Mosquitoes were thick, but expected being in the woods of Northern Wisconsin, just bring spray. We definitely recomend the cabin/ property for a nice quite vacation away.

Great time fishing!

A small group of longtime friends got together for a 3-day weekend of fishing. An excellent time was had by all. We had good luck catching fish (particularly some big largemouth bass). The cabin and location did not disappoint at all. A quiet and beautiful area! The host Sue was wonderful to work with and was quick to answer any question or help needed. Will definitely be returning in the future!

Early autumn getaway

I had a thoroughly enjoyable 2 night stay. The setting, the cabin, and the cooperative, helpful owner made for a nice experience. The property came complete with any and everything needed. There’s a nice stone campfire ring, dock for fishing, a swim raft (for those who stay earlier than my late September stay), and plenty of boating “toys” for those with time to enjoy the quiet northern Wisconsin small lake. I found the kitchen to be fully stocked, and the lakeside deck includes a small gas grill. The property was accurately and well described online. 3 separate bedrooms plus a loft with 3 more beds offer plenty of room, and newer knotty pine finishing inside made for an attractive decor. My short stay was tranquility personified!

Beautiful and Peaceful

Cabin was clean, modern and spacious, with great view of lake from cabin and deck! Lots of canoe paddling, with access to other beautiful lakes through unique and fun water channels. Road to cabin was long and rocky, but easy enough if you took your time - it only added to the experience of quiet and solitude that we were seeking. Sue, the owner, was helpful with lots of good information. We would recommend this cabin to anyone who enjoys outdoor activities (especially for kids), but also want a cozy retreat when the day is done.

Summer Vacation

Staying at Hummingbird Haven was one of the best and most relaxing vacations that we've ever had! The cabin was beautiful and so cozy, and the view was absolutely beautiful! We loved and used just about all of the water toys included with the cabin -- fishing boat, paddle boat, paddle board, and Lilly pad for the kids. Sue, the Owner, was so sweet and kind. She gave us suggestions on things to do and see, and was so welcoming. We definitely will consider coming back again!

Magical cabin… peaceful, serene, loved it.

Sue was a great host! She happened to be on-site while we were there, answering all of our questions and offering suggestions for best fishing. We had a great time! 9 acres of land that allowed my 2 dogs to run free while I walked, they had the best time as well. Kitchen stocked perfectly. Sue was working on getting the driveway grated, it’s definitely best to have a 4 wheel drive at this time, but she is working on it (and she’ll warn you if it’s still not grated). Driveway was the only spot that could be improved. Everything else was perfect! Sue was a compassionate host who truly wants her guests to enjoy their stay in every way.

Beautiful lake and cabin

We had a great time here. The lake was so beautiful and private. It felt like we had the lake to ourselves, with only a handful of other properties built on the lake. The water was great for swimming. The cabin was a great size and more room than we needed for our small family. We enjoyed how it was decorated. It was extremely clean and well maintained. It had a highly functional kitchen. Our small kids had a great time and are already asking to go back.

This cabin has been a family cabin since 1957 and we love living in this quiet, pristine location. You would love what it has to offer...about as much as the family loves it! You are invited to enjoy the north woods and all it has to offer by visiting Hummingbird Haven.....and it is called that for a reason! The hummers love coming to it also. They are so much fun to watch as they swirl around the cabin deck chairs, windows, etc. They are territorial feeders so that means they argue and chase each other away from their feeders! Come see for yourself and leave all your cares behind!!!

Why they chose this property

This is a quiet, serene, pristine lake/cabin where you can reside without the influence of the world. It is just plain one of a kind.

What makes this property unique

Very remote on lake...very quiet and peaceful! You will want to come back to this unique location away from everything!
