About this property

Oceanfront Log Cabin with Dock on Southport Island - 7 acres with westerly views

Log cabin on Love's Cove and looking west over Ebenecook Bay on Southport Island. Built and furnished in 1909 by the same person who built Sprucewold in Boothbay harbor, and owned and cared for by our family, with varying levels of skill applied with unflagging energy since 1939. Minutes from the shops, restaurants and boat excursions in Boothbay Harbor and fresh lobsters/clams at Robinson's Wharf and Five Islands.

The entire place is beautiful and rustic. With the exception of the additions of modern appliances and other amenities (including very-fast 1Gps wifi) the experience of staying there has not changed much since my grandfather bought it 85 years ago. The floorplan is open and large, with soaring ceilings over living and dining areas, a big stone fireplace, and a huge and comfortable dining table. In the main cabin two of the bedrooms have queen beds while the other bedroom has bunk beds of full/queen size (custom size close to queen) as well as a twin bed. There are two bathrooms in the main cabin; one has a shower and one has a bathtub. The kitchen is large with a full set of appliances and plenty of counter space. There is an additional small sleeping cabin with a queen bed and half-bathroom. The property has a deep-water dock and a guest mooring which will hold boats up to 70'. For some reason I get a lot of questions about the hot water, so to be clear, there IS hot water in the main cabin.

Spectacular dock and porch!

This cabin has an incredible dock on a quintessential Maine cove with perfect views just a short walk down from the house, great porches for sunsets as well. Cabin is more on the rustic side. The Southport and Boothbay area we’re awesome and Bill was a super friendly host.

Charming Rustic Cottage

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The house comfortably fit 3 adults, 3 kids and 2 large dogs. The house is very charming with lots of character and has a rustic log cabin, mountain hideaway type of vibe, which we loved. Appliances all worked great during our stay and there is AC in the bedrooms. The owner Bill was a total rockstar and was very quick to respond to any questions we had. One big plus was the super fast wifi which allowed my husband, a financial trader who relies on fast internet, to work remotely all week with no disruptions. We also loved having coffee on the porch every morning and there is plenty of grass for dogs to run around outside. Thanks again Bill!

A great place for those who enjoy a rustic place surrounded by beauty

This a beautiful and functional property, for those who appreciate a rustic experience in a gorgeous setting. A true Maine experience, but not for those looking for luxury. It has all you need- hot running water, stove, refrigerator, two functioning bathrooms, shower, and bath. The house has plenty of space with beautiful log construction, with a large fireplace in the living area, a stove in the kitchen for chilly evenings, and amazing artifact from throughout the 20th century.. The porch overlooking the water is large and comfortable, with a short path to the shore. Sleeping arrangements for our seven family members was good and the beds are comfortable. We had a plumbing problem as the first guest of the season and Bill was quick and responsive and the issue was resolved completely. We enjoyed the adventure and will return.

Wonderful log cabin

An amazing if slightly funky log cabin - spacious, huge fireplace, lots of tables and chairs, private yard, access to deck, gorgeous view. Log cabin is quite amazing. Has a very lived-in feeling, not immaculate like a hotel or guest house, but extremely comfortable. Beautiful wood everywhere. Host was very accessible and helpful. I didn't intend to come solo but my companion's plans shifted at the last minute, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. would consider returning with all my grown kids. Just a note: not a ton of privacy for sharing. Would definitely visit again.

Weekend in Southport

Overall I had a great experience staying at this property! The cabin is a bit rustic, but charming, and set in such a beautiful location. The host was incredibly friendly and accommodating. One weekend wasn’t enough time. I hope to make it back in the near future!
