Peaceful Cabin in the Woods

My daughter and I stayed at this very clean and super cute property while visiting RRG. It was such a peaceful setting and had everything you need to feel right at home. The cabin is off the beaten path, which is something we were looking for, so prepare to drive a bit if you are planning on visiting Natural Bridge and the other local attractions. We had a great stay and hope to return!

Secluded cabin

We stayed four nights at this cabin in the Red River Gorge area. The pictures accurately depict the property and the host was helpful with anything we needed. The cabin was well equipped and decorated nicely. Pick up groceries before your arrival as the winding roads make for a longer trip to the store.

Beautiful secluded getaway.

Cabin was beautifully decorated and very clean. It was wonderfully peaceful and secluded. The only sounds to listen to were the birds singing and the bull frogs croaking in the small pond down the hill from the cabin. A great place to get away from everything.

Secluded sanctuary

This was a quiet, inspiring week to get away for a personal writing/composing retreat, along with our Siberian Husky, Nadia. Erica was such a fantastic, helpful host--always promptly responding to any questions I had. From the stellar reviews, I knew the cabin would be terrific, but it exceeded all expectations. It was cozy (but quite spacious) and comfortable, with lots of thoughtful touches throughout--and with modern tech available. I prepared all meals there during my stay, and the kitchen was well-equipped. It took a while to get used to driving on the essentially one-lane, winding roads for several miles to access the cabin, but it contributed to the experience! The husky and I daily hiked various trails in and around the Red River Gorge, and seeing and driving through the Nada Tunnel was a highlight! Many thanks to Erica for creating such a lovely retreat space!

Great cabin stay

We had a lovely time in the cabin! It was cute, clean, and well-maintained. Our host was friendly and responsive to any questions we had. It’s tucked in the woods, away from distractions, but includes reliable wi-fi and streaming options. There’s a fire pit as well. It was the perfect mix of relaxing with the technology to do a little work if you are so inclined!

Awesome family friendly cabin!

We had a great weekend at Red River Gorge. This was the perfect spot for me and my 2 kids. We had never been here before so did not know what to expect. We got a little confused about the directions but our host was very quick to respond and helped us get there safely. The cabin itself was clean, scenic and comfortable. Only about a 25 minute drive to the state park and attractions. Games and ping pong table were an added bonus for the kids. I HIGHLY recommend staying here. 👍👍

Secluded get away... worth the trek!

This cabin is a retreat! Hammocks in the trees and on the porch... so peaceful! It is secluded, so nowhere is quick to get to, so plan accordingly! Lots of things to do & eat, but lots of things are closed on Tuesdays & Wednesdays, so check that out ahead of time. The owners are super quick to respond to any questions, so helpful. We would definitely stay again!

Short Vacation

If VRBO has a superhost designation, these folks should get it! The cabin is gorgeous, and looked exactly like the photos. There were enough amenities and kind touches that I felt like we were in a spa. The surrounding land is lovely, and fun to explore. Our kids loved the loft with its ping pong table and beds. The hosts were extremely responsive and answered all questions immediately. I would highly recommend this cabin and these hosts!

OMG what a hidden gem!

This place was absolutely AMAZING! This was our first stay ever in Kentucky and Erica set the bar high... If you are looking for a quiet secluded place to stay and just get away, this is it! There was no traffic, we sat on the front porch in the morning drinking our coffee and had a deer grazing right in front of us the whole time. The cabin itself is IMMACULATE...so clean and the sweet little touches just add to it. We went kayaking at Red River Gorge while we were there and its maybe a 30 min drive from the cabin. Overall just an awesome weekend getaway! Thank you Erica for the hospitality!!!

Great stay in a cute cabin!

We had a great time staying at the cabin! Everything was clean, well stocked, and so cute. Erica was a wonderful communicator and responded very quickly with any questions we had. The cabin is quite isolated, so it was very peaceful and a chance to connect with nature. The only downside was the drive there - so many miles of curvy, rolling hills to get to Red River Gorge and back. It took much longer to get to Red River Gorge than we expected (almost an hour), which ended up limiting our hiking time. Other than that it was a great trip!

Peace and Serenity

If you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this is the place for you. Very well equipped property with every amenity and B&B type touches in a gorgeous remote location with rolling hills and beautiful scenery. The place is impeccably clean with all the comforts of home. We stayed for two nights in late March. Unprecedented high winds caused an area-wide outage a few hours before our arrival and throughout our stay. This was no fault of the owner/property manager. Erica was in constant communication with us on power company updates, and even offered to bring over a generator to power a few things. The cabin is so well equipped, a generator was not needed. A little conservation made the hot water last, battery powered lanterns were already on site, charcoal grill and fire pit allowed us to cook using the cast iron skillets provided. We used our cooler for refrigeration. Cabin retained most of the heat and bedding was warm and comfy - we didn’t even need to wear extra layers. Erica is an excellent host and I highly recommend this property. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely book again.

About the host

Hosted by Erica Jones

Host profile image
Hi!! My name is Erica Jones. I am a mother, a wife and a small catering business owner. My passions in life include my family, the outdoors and cooking (of course). Having the luxury of being able to call the Red River Gorge my home is one of my favorite blessings. That’s why I love having the opportunity to share this little piece of heaven with you as my guest.

Why they chose this property

Why this property?? Why not!? This property has everything (in my opinion). Seclusion. The world we live in today is scary and uncertain, at The Willow, it’s as if the worries of the world are far away!! Comfort. I try my best to make our home as comfortable and inviting as I can. Here you are welcome, here you can relax!

What makes this property unique

Although The Willow is off of the beaten path, we’re still not far from local attractions. We are pretty much smack dab in the middle of several local attractions such as Red River Gorge (home of some of the best hiking around), Natural Bridge State Park, Kentucky Dragway ( featured on Street Outlaws), and Hollerwood ATV park. Here for a wedding? The Willow is 10 miles from the popular Events by Jenny Lea wedding barns and venues.
