Private Lakefront Cottage A Step Away from a Large Sandy Beach!
Meet "Camp George 2", the sister camp of "Camp George" located 4-1/2 miles away on the same beautiful Lake Arrowhead (visit VRBO.com/587592). When this property came on the market we immediately knew we had to own it. It is very private - you can't see any neighboring houses. Three private bedrooms and a large open concept living area with 1-1/2 baths all on one level opening to a huge (400 square foot) rear deck overlooking the private wooded back yard, more than 100' of shoreline and a private dock. Our "unfinished basement" adds another 1,000 square feet of guest friendly space. Here we have our laundry area, a table and 4 bistro chairs for board games or puzzles, an extensive assortment of DVDs, VHS tapes, board games and puzzles, a 55" Roku TV with a DVD/VCR player, ping pong, shuffleboard, practice golf putting, etc. Best of all, the adjoining lot is "Beach #1", owned and maintained by Lake Arrowhead Community Association. This beach is more than 100' wide with a cordoned off area providing safe swimming for children, picnic tables and toilet facilities. It is not open to the general public, just homeowners within the Lake Arrowhead community and their guests.

This was a great property. House was very clean and well stocked. So many games and activities provided for enjoyment on the water and on a rainy day or evening. Kayaking and fishing were wonderful. So many places to explore on Lake Arrowhead. Even though we didn't rent the pontoon boat for the week.. owner allowed us to use it as a floating patio... so morning coffee and evening sunsets were so much more comfortable on the cushioned boat seats. This is the perfect house for a relaxing family vacation !!
George’s cottage is a very calm and scenic getaway filled with nature and as many activities as you want are included- our favorite was ping pong. George is very easy to get in touch with and very responsive although we didn’t really need to communicate with him much but when we did, he answered right away. We had a great time and took the pontoon boat out several times and did a lot of fishing and swimming in the lake, as well as many bike rides and hiking. I would highly recommend staying at George’s lakefront property!
Cabin is very nice and was clean. Quite a steep hill down to the water. Porch could use a hand rail and bathroom tub needs a security bar. Linens not on beds and if you use the ones provided you must launder them before checking out or you will be charged a fee.
Accurate listing, welcoming owners, great quiet fun away from the rest of the world.
My family of 4 stayed at camp George 2 this August for a week. Gps got us there without a hitch. Upon arrival I was remarkably impressed with how accurate the listing for the property is to what was provided. You definitely get what they tell you they are offering! There's are no absurd house rules as with some previous houses we've stayed in either. The owners definitely provide a great vacation experience with this property. Everything we needed to use the property to it's fullest was provided (one exception potentially being child sized life vests but they mention that in the listing). The house is well organized to find things that you're looking for. The basement was a kids dream with all the old fashioned screenless fun you could enjoy. They had ample fun board games too! If the basement doesn't have it, the clubhouse did with a billiards table, air hockey and indoor pool. While we didn't rent the pontoon it was stationed on our dock as a "floating porch" and we enjoyed it immensely and it became a favorite place to enjoy the morning coffee (even if we spilled it all the way down the hill). If it hadn't been there, there were also benches up from the dock for the same enjoyment. The water crafts were in great supply and they also had fishing supplies which was super helpful since we forgot our tackle box at home. The laundry facility in the basement was a perfect set up. All the beds were creak-free and very comfortable. The kitchen was nicely stocked for cooking.
We usually go to Maine for the beaches, but we decided to try a place on a lake this year. This place has everything you could want, kayaks, canoes, fishing rods, games like ping pong, fuse ball, plenty of games, puzzles. There are a couple of fire pits, air conditioning in every room, a beautiful view of the lake and privacy. The house was really clean and well stocked with the essentials. We had an excellent stay at Camp George 2, and.look forward to going back!
We really enjoyed our time at the lake. My husband and I as well as our three college age kids found the house very welcoming and George was super accommodating.
The lake is beautiful and unusual in that much of it is undeveloped. We kept waiting for a moose to appear which did not happen but the loons were everywhere and not at all bothered by people.
We rented the boat and enjoyed checking out the lake and fishing. The location so close to Old Orchard Beach, Freeport, Portland and North Conway gave all of us plenty to do.
I highly recommend the house and we plan to return next year.
I have never stayed in a rental that was SO CLEAN. Seriously, not one thing made us question the cleanliness. This cottage is so well cared for. It has everything you need, from kitchen supplies to s'mores sticks to tubes and toys for the lake to a bin of old towels that can be used for the boat. We found everything we didn't know we needed. The view is beautiful and we loved having the boat to get out on the lake! The boat is older, well worn, and doesn't go very fast, but it worked for us. It was also so nice being ~40 minutes from the coast. This stay exceeded my expectations. :)
We found Camp George 2 to be exactly as advertised. The cottage was very clean, cozy, and comfy. It had all the amenities a family could want and more. On rainy days at camp, there are games galore to keep everyone entertained. On the sunny days, we hit the water. Camp George 2 has a nice swimming hole. However, if you have little ones, the community beach next door is your go-to. With sandy shore and plenty of room for little ones to splash around, you'll not be disappointed. My aunt brought her two-year-old granddaughter for the day and she had a blast at the public beach. The lake itself is quiet, with minimal motor boat traffic and lots of fishing. George was fantastic to work with, and it's obvious he and his wife have put a lot of time and attention into creating a perfect get-away for their guests.
We had the best stay and are looking forward to coming back again, maybe in the winter. Place was just as described online. George had everything you would need to know about the cabin, lake, and everything all around in a very convenient book. Very responsive to any inquiries we had. Perfect spot!
Beautiful Spot. Full set of amenities. Sparkled Clean. Relaxing quiet spot for family. All bedrooms on main floor made it easy for elderly grandparents to join with the family.
My family had a long weekend away to relax and this was perfect. The cabin and lake were lovely, and the hosts even left a welcome basket. We are already trying to decide when to book another stay!
We had a great time visiting the gorgeous property and lake of Camp George 2! George was a great communicator. Everything was exactly as stated. He even did a little research for us, and left us a basket of supplies for s’mores and a very personalized welcome letter.
If you like to fish, Arrowhead is a great lake. We caught Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Red Breasted Sunfish, Yellow Perch, Chain Pickerel and Black Crappie.
The property has trees on both sides, so the back yard is relatively private and quiet. We cooked some of Maine’s famous “Jordan Red” hotdogs and s’mores over a campfire.
The home is modernized, yet reminds me of a cottage we went to in my youth, decorated with campy stuff that let us know we were out in “the woods.” It’s located within an hour of the shore on one side and some great mountain hiking on the other. There are plenty of small grocery stores nearby, and a WalMart within 30 mins. We went to a u-pick apple and berry orchard, a wildlife rescue, shopping in Cornish and ate lobster on the coast. Check out the beautiful “Marginal Way” shoreline!
We expect to return sometime with family and highly recommend the property and host.
This is a great place to stay on beautiful Lake Arrowhead. It has lots of entertainment including a ping pong table, lots of games, a firepit, and all kinds of water fun. It is also very clean and comfortable and had everything you could possibly need in the kitchen! George was very quick to respond to any questions we had. My family wishes we could have stayed longer! We would love to stay here again.
My family had a wonderful time at Camp George 2. The cottage was clean and everything was in good working order. The appliances air conditioning etc. It is larger than it looks from the outside. And having 2 bathroom areas was a bonus.
My boys 10 and 11. Especially enjoyed the basement play area. The ping pong table was a hit. The lake was very expansive and fun to explore.
We rented the pontoon boat for the week and on arrival it was we discovered it was having engine issues and would not work. We were upset thinking we wouldn’t have the boat. George the host went above and beyond and made arrangements with a local marina and got us another pontoon boat. This was greatly appreciated as he could of just refunded us our money and told us sorry about the boat. Thanks George.
I’d recommend this cottage to any family looking for a lakefront cottage. It’s a very quiet lake. And in my opinion it’s very reasonably priced.
Thanks
Dan, Johanna, Danny and Thomas
We had a wonderful time at Camp George 2, the place was very comfortable and had everything we like having when we travel, like a grill, kayaks/boat, along with plenty of space, it was like being at home. We loved sitting on the deck every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so pretty. George was very communicative and helpful with everything. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back!
My family of 2 adults and 2 kids really enjoyed our stay at Camp George 2! It was our 1st time at Lake Arrowhead and we were impressed. the lake is clean with good fishing and little boat traffic even for 4th of July weekend. The cottage was very clean and well stocked with necessities and toys. Its an easy walk down to the water and to the association beach next door where my kids made friends easily. It was so relaxing and a great getaway. We made a few day trips to nearby Portland, Old Orchard Beach, and Funtown Splashtown. We loved eating on the deck overlooking the water, renting George's boat to explore the lake, and the basement full of toys to entertain the kids after a day on the water. Thanks George & Audrey!
We had a lovely stay at Camp George 2 during kids school vacation! George’s cabin is cozy, with a beautiful view and fully equipped kitchen. Lots of little touches and excellent communication made our stay easy and fun! The kids loved the ping pong table and bingo game in the evenings. Beds were comfy and house was spotless. We will definitely go back!
We had the most magical stay at Camp George II for Christmas! It was like living in a snow globe on the lake for four days. The lakehouse was spotless and so comfortable - literally had everything we needed. Highly recommend and we will be coming back in summer to enjoy the lake again!
We love this place on Lake Arrowhead! Our five day visit at Camp George 2 in early November was an impulse - we just wanted to get away for a family birthday weekend into nature. We lucked out with sunny skies, temps in the fifties, calm and oh so clean water, excellent kayaks and canoes (so many islands and coves to explore on Lake Arrowhead) and a well-stocked fire pit for the s'mores (Thanks for the gift basket!) As for nature - a bald eagle flying overhead while kayaking was a bonus and seeing two shooting stars while star gazing another win. The owner, George, is an excellent communicator and was responsive and helpful every step of the way. The cottage is comfortable, attractive, and very well stocked - every need was considered. The grandkids visited for a day (they live nearby) and had so much fun at the beach, on a canoe, and in the basement - fully stocked with games and toys. Learning that the tap water is so very clean and tastes so good was another really special bonus, we had lugged a few jugs of water with us that we just lugged right back home again. If I could give ten stars for Camp George 2, I would. Thanks to George and Audrey for being the ultimate owners of this vacation property.
The cabin (camp) was as depicted on VRBO. It was a lovely stay. George left a nice gift basket for us. He was always very responsive to any questions. The amenities were everything we needed for our visit. The view of the lake was awesome. My one predicament was that the trail to the boat dock is tricky for anyone with knee trouble or issues walking on uneven ground. Overall, I would definitely recommend!

My wife Audrey and I live in New Hampshire, 70 miles from our two "Camp George" lakefront cottages. We are both retired, and our passion as Master Gardeners is to maintain our New Hampshire gardens and become involved in UNH Cooperative Extension projects. We have designed and installed registered pollinator gardens in Sandown and Auburn, NH. We both love the state of Maine and all of the wonderful attractions that the state provides. We especially like waterfront settings, both lakes and ocean, and enjoy exploring new areas when we can.
Why they chose this property
When this property came on the market we just had to own it. Unlike many other lakes in Maine, Lake Arrowhead has meandering coves and islands that are exciting to explore. It is the only "Trophy Bass Lake" certified by the state of Maine, and it is approximately 1100 acres in size. This property enjoys 111 feet of waterfront with a private dock. Its gently sloping wooded lot provides great views of the lake.
What makes this property unique
What sets this property apart from other lakefront cottages is its immediate neighbor - "Beach #1", which is owned and managed by Lake Arrowhead Community. This beach is not open to the general public - it only serves Lake Arrowhead community residents and their guests within the association. You literally can walk onto a beautiful 100+ foot stretch of sandy beach providing a cordoned off area for the kids from the edge of our property. The cottage is also very private - you can't even see any neighboring houses.
