About this property

Minglewood: Old Tahoe Vibe with Hot Tub- 4bed/3bath

Welcome to Minglewood: our Old Tahoe oasis just 3 hours from the Bay. A place where you can relax without missing out on all the modern amenities of home. We created Minglewood as your home away from home, where you can shake off the cares of the city and enjoy the Old Tahoe lifestyle.

We genuinely want you to feel at home while you’re here. Promise. We bought this custom-built cabin after decades of ski leases and know exactly what it’s like to sleep on lumpy futons or try to cook Thanksgiving dinner with two dull knives and a frying pan. Not to mention the time we rented a place and there was a hot tub in the living room. Seriously.... So we get it. When you stay at Minglewood, you can expect a house that is decorated and outfitted just like a real home – complete with personal touches, a fully-stocked kitchen, and beds you can’t wait to crawl into.

The house is nestled in the neighborhood of Serene Lakes, one of the last places where Tahoe still feels wild. Expect two lakes within walking distance, lots of charming cabins, neighbors who wave hello, and children riding bikes in the street. You’ve got world-class downhill skiing 5 minutes down the road at Sugar Bowl Ski Resort and the largest XC ski resort in North America is in your backyard. Yep – Royal Gorge XC Ski Resort surrounds the neighborhood and is a short walk from the house. Or, skip trailhead traffic and snowshoe, hike, and bike- all out the back door. Plus, Serene Lakes is on the west side of Donner Summit, so you'll be settled in at Minglewood enjoying the hot tub, while the folks who rented houses in Truckee or Tahoe City are still fighting the traffic over the summit.

After a day of adventuring Tahoe-style, head back to Minglewood and cozy up with a book in front of the gas fireplace or soak under the stars in the hot tub. You can prepare a memorable feast for the fam in the fully-stocked kitchen, complete with Calphalon cookware, Henckels knives, and plenty of condiments. The main floor has a living room with a gas stove, dining room that seats 10 comfortably, full bath, and deck with 6-person hot tub and gas grill. In the summer, the deck has another dining table that seats 8 and adirondack chairs so you can eat dinner and hang out under the stairs.

Got teens? You might not see them all weekend! The first floor bedroom has a 3-person bunkbed, full bath, big-screen TV, xBox, and darts. And don’t worry – any dance parties or video game shenanigans won’t even be heard upstairs.

Got little ones? We’ve got your back. And a Pack & Play, highchair, kids’ cups and dishes, as well as some fun books and toys.

And did you ski or hike a bit too hard? We’ve got supplies for even the most hard-core weekend warrior. Tucked in a basket in the corner of the living room, you’ll find yoga mats, blocks, foam rollers, a heating pad, and even a muscle massage tool.

The third floor is the sunniest and has 3 cozy bedrooms, all with queen beds, new pillows, memory foam toppers, and lots of USB outlets for charging. Whoever ends up with the grey bedroom will enjoy their own private princess deck (be sure to call dibs now!).

And if you do need to take a zoom or two while you are there, no worries. There’s a desk upstairs and wifi can support multiple zooms, even when the kids are playing video games downstairs.

Plus, Minglewood ain’t your grandma’s cabin. No old flannel sheets or cheesy bear wallpaper here. We named the cabin after one of our favorite Grateful Dead songs, and as the story goes, Minglewood was an old cabin somewhere south of Memphis where friends gathered to dance and sing and shake off the workingman’s load. We’d like to think that’s exactly what you can do at the New Minglewood too. Throughout the house, you’ll find posters, albums, and other little nuggets which we hope you’ll enjoy as much as we do.

And remember that thing I said about wanting you to feel like you are staying at a friend’s house? I really mean it. You can expect clear, easy communication from me and I’m always a call/text away if something comes up.

So whatcha waiting for? “Come waste your time” at Minglewood!

Great Family house

We had the best 4 night stay at Minglewood. We love Serene and come yearly, and this house was so lovely for my 2 adult kids, 2 young kids and grandchild. The house is pretty hot in the summer but we planned ahead with extra fans. The owner was awesome and remote started the hot tub which us adults loved. Everything was lovely and easy and the highchair was clutch. Thank you Julie!

Generations mingled

The host of Minglewood deserves 10 stars for all the handholding. It was a boon to have a caring homeowner who knew the area and eased my apprehensions about traveling with my suddenly frail 87-year-old mom. Our party of four (husband, 13-year-old son and aforementioned mom) felt welcome immediately in this user friendly house. The bedrooms upstairs (and one on ground floor we didn't use that looked perf for spilling over kids) and an open concept living dining floor allows for both cozy together time and privacy. The kitchen is easy to cook real meals in. The proximity to Sugar Bowl and unbelievable cross-country/snow shoe trails is ideal. The use of snowshoes and the perfect hot tub leveled up the whole experience. We can't wait to come back. So glad I chose it. I don't want to describe too much as you should have your own experience! The only change I'd wish for is to less chemically intensive laundry and soap detergents. Rule of thumb: the smell of "clean" usually means the water table and workers are being damaged somewhere. Ironically, in the most nature-rich locations it can be hard to find low-impact soaps. It's worth the money and effort to switch. Pushes the industry as a whole to change. This is a beautiful house with a great feeling in a beautiful place.

A Dream Vacation Come True

I recently had the pleasure of embarking on a vacation that exceeded all expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with a sense of serenity and beauty that set the stage for an unforgettable experience. The cleanliness and attention to detail were immediately apparent, making me feel right at home. The location of this vacation spot was nothing short of breathtaking. Nestled amidst nature's splendor, it offered a picturesque view that seemed straight out of a postcard. Whether it was the tranquil lake, the snow, or the majestic mountains, every aspect of the surroundings added to the overall charm. One of the standout features of this vacation was the impeccable stocking of all essential items. From the fully equipped kitchen to the well-stocked bathroom, every detail had been thoughtfully considered. This attention to detail made it effortless to settle in and enjoy the comforts of home while being away. It was evident that the owners took great pride in maintaining a pristine environment. We loved the wall plants all around the house. Beyond the physical aspects, the vacation spot also provided a range of amenities and activities that catered to every interest. You won’t be disappointed!

Amazing cabin - Looking forward to going again!

Julie was friendly, proactive and available for constant communication. I was in love with the cabin with it's cleanliness and having all the things you need. Photos were great too, but they don't do justice to how nice it was in person. All guests including myself were fully satisfied with the trip, and would love to come back again!

Amazing Serene Lakes cabin!

We loved our stay at this cabin! It's very comfortable, clean, and well-stocked, and communication with Julie couldn't have been smoother. The Serene Lakes location is secluded and quiet, but super close to Sugarbowl, Soda Springs, and Royal Gorge for skiing. We can't wait to return!

Perfect for Christmas Family Get-together

Solid, comfortable and tastefully decorated home. My daughter cooked wonderful meals in the well-equipped kitchen. Enjoyed the easy gas fire stove that kept us warm, and the TV, the bedrooms. Having three bathrooms was also very convenient. The host is easy to communicate with. Looking forward to future stays at Minglewood!

Perfect Location for Sugar Bowl/Soda Springs Visits

The location was perfect for our visit to Sugar Bowl. Staying up by the summit only 5 miles from the ski resort allowed us to not worry about Hwy 80 road closures and other issues. The house is super cute and beds were comfortable. The owner was FANTASTIC and was flexible and had great communication during the storm. We would definitely stay there again!! Our only complaint which is minor, is that there were not any coverings on the windows... so light sleepers had a hard time when the sun came out.

Cozy and Comfortable Stay

We made the (probably poor) decision to drive into the hugest storm in years to spend a weekend in Soda Springs. Julia was extra considerate and generously offered to refund us for our safely. We ended up having a wonderful time getting snowed in and letting the kids romp in eight feet of snow right outside the door. The house was easy to warm and was very well appointed and comfortable. I’ve never had access to such complete spices before when cooking ;) Everyone notes their beds were extremely comfortable and the hot tub was waiting ready to go upon arrival as Julia heated it before we arrived. This kind of thoughtful attention to our experience was noted throughout the stay and all our interactions. Thank you Julia! As deadheads, we also enjoyed all the music related decor. It felt like home. We hope to visit the area again when we can take the kids to the kid friendly snow resort up the block (closed for the storm), and feel such kind, accessible and considerate care from Julia!!!

Perfect summer getaway

The pics don’t do justice, the house is elegantly decorated, cozy and perfect for family get togethers. It is so clean it feels new. The owners left us a complimentary bottle of wine to enjoy. We were able to walk down the street to a private neighborhood dock and put our boat in. The owners add a personal touch and are extremely assessible they even called us while on their trip to Belize. We used the hot tub on the balcony every night and it is decorated with lights, blankets and pillows do you can cuddle up and listen the birds or watch the stars in the morning or evening.
