About this property

Ruffinit has it all! Sitting on top of 2.8 acres, it is in a very private location with nothing but silence around you. Enjoy the long range mountain views from the screened in porch or the oversized deck.

Ruffinit cabin is really not ruffing it! It is extremely comfortable with all the amenities from home including broadband internet. The cabin inside is constructed in beautiful tongue and groove yellow pine and has been furnished and equipped with everything you need for a great vacation. Main floor bedrooms recently got new hardwood floors, some photos may show carpet. The pottery, pictures and knickknack's all go together to give you a very 'homey' feeling.

On this mountain, there is also a fishing pond, beautiful waterfalls, hiking trails and an outdoor pavilion. Please follow all neighborhood posted signs and rules. Renters assume all liability and risk while using neighborhood amenities.

Scott Kerr Dam Lake - 15 minutes- Swim Beaches, Boat Rentals, Frisbee Golf, etc
Appalachian Ski Mountain- 25 minutes (all others 40 min drive)

The Lost Wombat is a family restaurant beside the Liberty Theater and is also a Zulpo property. We opened in May 2023 just in time for Merlefest and the Nascar All-Star race. Don't worry about steep curvy roads! This cabin is very easy to get to, driving only 8 miles west of Wilkesboro NC or 15 miles east of Boone NC off of Hwy 421. For those coming from Charlotte, our cabin is only an hour and a half away. From the Raleigh Durham area you are under 3 hours!

Amazing place and view

Easy to get to and find, perfect place for some peace and tranquility. The view was spectacular from both the living room and bedroom. Steps are a bit of a challenge with luggage but the stay well offset that. Process was easy and owners respond quickly. We'll definitely be going back, hopefully for a longer stay.

Loved Ruffin’ It

Wonderful cabin. Plenty of room for the ten of us. Cozy den with fireplace. Lots of pots and pans for cooking. Overall excellent experience. If you plan to go, you need to know that the cabin is down a set of stairs, so pack easy to carry bags! We will visit again!

Amazing views. Good amenities

I’ve stayed at dozens of cabins in NC mountains and this was among the best (if not, THE best) views I’ve seen. The cabin has lots of good options for family and friends to spread out in various sleeping arrangements. Things to note not found in listing or reviews: you have to bring your own sheets and make your own beds. I don’t see how this could be 5 stars without a basic amenity like that. Kitchen supplies and towels seem to be an after thought — they’ve all seen better days. Everything in the basement is unusable. The “pool table” and dart board in the basement have no functional sticks, cues, or darts. However the basement bedroom does have an extra set of bunk beds in the same room as the queen which was a nice, unexpected surprise for my family of kids. Bottom bathroom does not have shower or bath (only half bath), but does have washer and dryer. Host was very responsive and amenable to all requests. Even with the minor “negatives”, this place is priced right and a very very good value. Overall great stay!

Beautiful!!!

Loved this cabin. We had ages 14, 16, 64 and 85 and we all loved it. The teenagers loved the basement with dart board and pool table. My husband and I loved the screened in porch, and my mom loved having everything she needed on the main floor. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with us!!

Great weekend away

This cabin is very cute and the views are amazing! We loved the game room downstairs. It is pretty remote, and took about 30 minutes to get anywhere. Also, it would have been nice to have sheets on the beds when we arrived. But overall great stay!!

Perfect cabin getaway

We had a wonderful trip to the mountains. The cabin was absolutely beautiful and the views were spectacular. Everything was very clean, and we received very quick responses when we messaged the owner/manager. We will definitely consider returning in the future.

Weekend Wedding Wow!!!

The view is gorgeous! The road is curvy but well worth the drive. The home has plenty of room to accommodate a large family. The screen porch and deck are a great place to take in the scenery. One thing to note: The steps getting in the home can be a struggle for older folks or individuals who have a hard time getting around. We have enjoyed our stay!

Weekend Getaway

What a great place! Perfect for our needs. We saw deer every day we were there. 2 drawbacks were the steps down into the house were steep and numerous and the house is about 30 minutes from anything. On the other hand, if you are looking for somewhere to get away and relax, thus place is 30 minutes away from anything! The views from the back porch are AMAZING! We got to watch a storm roll in and it might have been one of the most beautiful things that has ever existed!

Ladies Conference Getaway

Several ladies and I were looking for a quiet, serene place to gather for our virtual conference with our direct sales company, Mary & Martha. This place was perfect! The host was accommodating to our needs and available when I had any questions. We enjoyed the view of the mountains from the porch and from inside. I do have a few suggestions: provide hand towels and wash cloths for the bathroom in the basement; ziplock bags or aluminum foil would have been nice to have available to us as we had some cooking and needed to cover food. Overall, it was a great place to stay and I would stay again!

Amazing Cabin!

WOW! This cabin was excellent! THE VIEWS! The weather & clouds constantly change! The owner was very easy to contact when we had an issue and came right over! The cabin was perfect for us and had everything we needed. Cleanliness was a 9/10. The screened porch was very nice for the mornings and late evenings. It’s VERY peaceful, no neighbors! We loved the location, we visited Blowing Rock, Tweetsie Railroad, and West Jefferson with a short drive. Also, we enjoyed splashing in the waterfall on the mountain! Just be ready to get your exercise...the steps to the cabin will give you a workout! But once you see that view, it’s all worth it! A couple tips- bring some extra washcloths/towels if you don’t want to wash very often, we got some at Dollar General, about 20 minutes away. But there is a washer/dryer downstairs which is very convenient! Just a couple things that could make it better- some furniture is worn, which is expected, and some needs repair, the tv downstairs wouldn’t pick up the Wi-Fi, and a couple more chairs for the back porch would be nice for the hot evenings, which would also be nice to have a pull-down shade in the screened porch to block sun. And maybe a light or string lights for the porch to give a little light at night! These are just some ideas we had that would be nice! :) We definitely plan to return, the location, view, and price can’t be beat! We would love to explore the community even more the next time! Thanks for letting us enjoy your cabin!

Best stay ever

We had all bridesmaids and some family and friends. We all had a blast. The property was perfect. Although they had no real yard or anything within walking distance. The house was nice. We were really able to let loose and have a great time.

Our family fell in love with Buck Mountain in 2007 when we bought a vacation home. After years of making the drive from Fuquay Varina for holidays and weekends we decided full time was for us! We live here now full time and love all the area has to offer. We wanted to share the memories we were creating with others, and decided to buy another property to rent mid 2020. Most weekends you will find us on the mountain as well enjoying all it has to offer with our two boys and two dogs! We also own The Block in N. Wilkesboro! If you are looking for a fun day in downtown N. Wilkesboro come see us to jump at our trampoline, ninja warrior, Roller skating, arcade, GellyBall (splatterball gun) arena and toddler park!
