Unique/modern, secluded cabin on 95 river front acres/utv/kayaks & hot tub

The James River Cabin is your four-season vacation destination. This secluded cabin is nestled amongst the trees on 95 acres located on the upper James River, just 10 short miles from the bustling city of Springfield, Missouri, and less than an hour from the popular tourist destination of Branson, Missouri. On-site activities are numerous and include bicycling, trail hiking, utv trail riding, kayaking, fishing, arrowhead hunting, hot tubbing, and swimming in your own personal paradise.

James River Cabin offers a secluded escape from every day stresses while still providing all of the luxuries and comforts of home. This uniquely rustic yet child-friendly cabin provides all of the amenities that you could ask for, including a fully stocked kitchen, sleeping accommodations for 6 adults, two full bathrooms, king bed in master bedroom, queen sleeper sofa in living room, twin bunk beds, washer and dryer, wood burning fire place, outdoor fire pit and dining, three furnished outdoor living areas, HOT TUB, and satellite and roku TV. Additionally, the cabin provides tasteful and comfortable linens and décor that will be sure to please even the most particular of guests.

This river front property also provides utv and kayaks/paddleboards. The river access is a short two-minute utv drive from the cabin, and kayaks are ready to launch at the picnic overlook area. The UTV is not included in the price of the rental, and is an additional fee. Please let us know if you would like to purchase use of the UTV for your stay and we will send an additional charge. A map to the river and trails is provided in the cabin for reference. Grubhub and Uber Eats deliver to the cabin if you don’t feel like cooking! The cell service is not great but Fiber internet is installed.

Wonderful time!

Very nice small cabin on beautiful property. Very wet and rainy weather during our stay made some of the trails impassable and the river flooded over its banks, so we had no luck fishing. The cabin itself was clean, comfortable, and well decorated. Our sons are 3, 6, 8, and 11. If they were any older there would not be enough room. Kids really enjoyed the hot tub and we made s’mores by the fire pit every night. Very nice place to stay, it’s close to a medium sized city so everything you need is nearby but it feels like you are way out in the country. We used this place as a launching point for trips into Springfield, Branson, and KC. Would recommend for small groups.

Great getaway!

Very nice, cozy cabin! Quiet and peaceful! Excellent, relaxing trip for my wife and me. Definitely recommend for anyone wanting a peaceful retreat. The property is also setup great for kids too, so don’t be afraid to bring them along!

Peaceful Retreat!

Very beautiful, clean, bright cabin nestled in the woods. The perfect blend of cozy and high end! We enjoyed every aspect of this little gem! Our host, Rachel, was so responsive and accommodating and it is evident she has truly put a lot of thought into your stay. Every room is well considered and perfectly appointed. No need to pack a lot of items, as the cabin is fully stocked. Including bath robes! Exploring trails with the UTV, enjoying the river, relaxing in the hot tub, along with the secluded and peaceful surroundings are just what we needed to unwind from everyday life. We can’t thank you enough for a relaxing and memorable stay. We are already looking forward to a return visit!

Anniversary trip

From the moment we drove on the winding tree lined country roads we knew it would be a special vacation. We arrived at the cabin and it is such a pretty setting. The cabin is just as described and so clean. We took the UTV to the river, too low to easily launch kayak, so instead we took walks through the woods, drove around the countryside, and spent alot of time sitting on the back deck listening to music, the birds and bugs, and watching the leaves fall like snow, so relaxing! Sitting on the front porch in the morning we watched gliders (turkey vultures) gliding on the currents. We live in the country so we are use to the quiet, but it was so nice being at a different setting. Rachel, thank you for all the great communication and sharing your wonderful cabin.

Loved the place! Our 2nd time!

The home was still well taken care of, even though we hadn’t been since April of 2021. Everything was still in great condition, well loved home, and now a swing set the kids desperately needed after our 3 hour drive. The home was cleaned as if I had done it myself. The decor, was warm and inviting. We will be back! Loved the nature, wild turkeys, birds, and the river. The kids couldn’t get enough of the UTV. On our last day, we finally went into town for a great bowling and arcade.great memories!

A real get away

2nd year coming here and it is always amazing! We had a phenomenal time relaxing by the river and enjoyed the peace and silence that comes with it. Lots of undisturbed widlife that is just itching for you to enjoy and soak it all in! 11/10 would always come back!

Pre Wedding get away

Beautiful house in an awesome location. Feel like you are in the country but close to town. We enjoyed riding the trails on the side by side. Spent a lot of time in the river. Too hot to enjoy the hot tub. Will definitely be back.

Beautiful peaceful remote and fully loaded for activities. Only reason you’ll need to leave is to buy groceries and even then you can still have those delivered.

Wonderful cabin!

We had a great stay at James River Cabin. The location was excellent and offered a relaxing, private environment but was a quick drive into town. We also enjoyed the outdoors and taking a couple short rides on the side by side. Hope to have another stay soon!

This is a great, secluded place to unwind with your family (especially children)!

We really enjoyed our stay and most especially enjoyed the feel of the cabin and the surroundings. It felt very secluded even though it is a short drive into Springfield. Both the adults and our four children (even our 1 year old) very much enjoyed the UTV rids along the trails and to the river. It was a great change of pace from our city life and we will always remember the time we had at the cabin.

Fall Family Getaway

Our family of four enjoyed every moment of our stay! It was so nice to connect with one another in the gorgeous cabin and land! We drove the ATV, roasted marshmallows around the fire, listened to music in the hot tub, went fishing, played catch in the field, and lounged in the hammock. What a fun, relaxing escape in this gorgeous property!

Great Place Outside the City

This cabin is perfectly located. Close enough to the city that you can go in to town for events, meetings, shopping or dinning. But it is far enough out to be peaceful and relaxing. The street is a very low traffic street and offers very little noise to distract you. The property offers plenty of activity. As much as you want really. But it is also perfect if you just want to sit, be still and relax. We did a bit of both in our time there. The river is really nice and at our time of travel, very calm and not cold. That was great as my wife did not have much experience kayaking previously. The trails are well kept and clearly marked. The outer band of trails seems to get the most use. The inside cut throughs seem less traveled, but that just makes it a little more fun. A little more rustic, but still on the path. The property is very comfortable. You can relax indoors or out. No matter where you choose to relax, the views are great. The interior and exterior wood work is fantastic. There is a lot details to notice on the inside as well. I highly recommend staying here and enjoying nature and the excellent cabin.

Relaxing Getaway

We absolutely enjoyed our stay. The property was spacious with tons of wildlife, allowing my 5 year old to enjoy country living for a few days. Our first night, we arrived to a yard full of deer. It was awesome! There was a playset outside and toys in the bunk room that were a great bonus. My husband enjoyed fishing and I simply took it all in. The ATV was a fun way to explore the property. We didn't need to reach out to the owners for anything, but Rachel was very kind leading up to our stay. Once a year I try to find a unique place to get away that's quiet and this was perfect!

Excellence at it's finest

I can't even begin to express how wonderful this place truly is. I planned to propose to my girlfriend and Rachel made sure that everything was perfect for our stay. If I could rate 10 stars I would. Extremely clean, serene, and beautiful. The UTV was a giant plus and it was just us 2 for 2 days along the most amazing river I could think of crystal clear and full of life! Can't wait to stay again in the future!

Amazing Family Fun!

Book it, you will not be disappointed!!! The location was great and it was a quick drive into town to grab food and to go the aquarium. The best part though was just hanging out at the house enjoying quality family time. The kids loved going in the UTV, playing in the river and they even learned to paddle kayaks on their own. In the evening we roasted marshmallows and hung out in the hot tub. The kids thought having their own tvs in bed was the coolest thing ever. It was a fantastic time and we can’t wait to go again…maybe without the kids 😂

A perfect place to stay.

The cabin is amazing and Rachel is a great hostess. The bed was comfortable, shower and tub were awesome, UTV trails to river were neat, and hot tub was nice after a long day of having fun. We hope to go back with our kids in the future!

James River Cabin was built from a dream to share the joy of the river and nature with others. Brahm and Rachel Wilson bought 95 acres on the James River back in 2011 after a very long and exhausting search for a one-of-a-kind property. Brahm immediately started building their dream home over-looking the river valley, and finished almost 2 years later in 2012, just three short months their firstborn Bodie arrived. Since that time, Brahm and Rachel have welcomed three more sons (Beckett, Rhett and Zane), all of which have thoroughly enjoyed their life growing up on the river. Many days are spent swimming, fishing, arrowhead hunting, morel hunting, fishing, utv trail riding and canoeing with all of the boys in tow. The property has been the gathering epicenter for so many friends and family, with so much love and laughter, that they finally decided they wanted to share it with others.

James River Cabin is the result of the efforts and input from Brahm, his wife Rachel, and Brahm's parents Russ and Debbie Wilson. As Russ has enjoyed a career in home building and is nearing retirement age, he decided that he probably only had one more house build left before he started taking it easy, and he wanted the cabin he had always envisioned to be the last build. The timing for their visions intersected and in the spring of 2019.

Why they chose this property

Brahm and Russ designed, drafted and did all of the construction work and finishing details on the cabin. The only items contracted out were the well, septic and the metal roof installation. Rachel and Debbie helped to pick the finishing touches and to plan a décor that would please the majority of guests. Brahm and Russ love all things rustic, masculine and natural, so it was important for Debbie and Rachel to bring a balance with a more feminine touch. Also, since Brahm and Rachel have four children and Russ and Debbie have 12 grandchildren, it was important for this cabin to be suitable for children of all ages to enjoy. Brahm and Russ keep themselves busy cutting wood and trails for the cabin, while also working to continually improve the property every chance they get. The James River Cabin is the culmination of the different skills of the Wilson family, and the desire for others to experience joy and beauty of the natural yet simple things in life. What makes this property unique

This property is one of the few places were you can spend an entire week and not have to leave the property. There are many fun things to do on-site which include:
UTV Trail Riding, hiking, bicycling, mountain biking, kayak/canoeing, fishing, swimming, watch wildlife, arrowhead hunt, morel hunt in the spring, and sit outside and enjoy the fire pit and string lights. Also, the property is secluded so you have privacy, and the property is fun for people of all ages. We provided everything you would need for all of these activities (except for bicycles) so you don't have to pack everything you own to take a fun trip. There are also so many fun things to do in the Springfield/Branson Missouri area during all four seasons, that you can make a very low-key, fun vacation with low stress and relaxation while also still enjoying modern and luxurious amenities which are extremely difficult to find in river front properties. This is also the perfect place if you are looking for seclusion and peace, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, but also is just 10 short miles from the city center if you feel you want to get out and socialize.
