Snowmobiling Bessemer

Just a short hop to the UPs endless snowmobile trails. Enjoyed 3 days of sledding in great snow conditions knowing we had a comfortable end for each adventure. Glad to have off street parking for 2 trucks with trailers and enough room to park sleds in front of the house.I'd do it again!!

A super nice home

First impression was this house was very clean. No musty smells! We were very thrilled on how close to town and adventures this home is. Comfortable for our 6 with plenty of room to still stretch out. When adventures were rained out, this house said the fun is on the inside too. We played scrabble way past midnight. Lots of fun we had just playing games inside. Would stay here again.

Great Little Spot

The owner was beyond helpful and quick to respond to any questions/concerns we had during our stay. The property was well-kept and ready for us when we arrived. The kitchen and bathroom were well stocked with the essentials for the entirety of our stay. My children especially appreciated the treats left to us in the welcome basket. I highly recommend this property for families and couples.

This place has a well stocked kitchen (appliances and spices), roomy couch for lounging, and space for our family of four to spread out. Kristy was helpful and responds quickly.

The Best Nest

Was an Amazing stay, would recommend staying, this place is right next to really beautiful waterfalls, and other scenic places, might go back soon honestly. There was some wasp nest which im deathly allergic to, but that was literally the only downside but other than that it was amazing

Met our needs well

Nelson's Nest was perfect for our 4 day stay. The location was perfect and gave us quick easy access to Indian Head and Black Jack Mt. The check in process was as easy as can be and communication with the owner was seamless. We arrived much earlier than expected and they allowed us an early check in. Kristy even made sure the the heat was turned up and ready to go!

UP vacation

Great location in western UP between Bessemer and Ironwood; close to Lake Superior and Porcupine Mountains. Kitchen equipped with all necessary utensils; cooked most of the time. Very relaxing time. Woods across the street and in back. Quiet street. Would return to this rental if in western UP again, especially in winter with all the ski resorts in the area.

Dog/Family Friendly & Great Location

Overall, the location of the home was very convenient for our day hikes to various locations (Porcupine Mountains in Michigan and trails throughout the UP and Wisconsin) and also was conveniently located within a short distance of the grocery store and Ironwood (check out Cold Iron Brewing!). The digital lock for checkin was a great feature and super easy! We also appreciated there being a mud room and washer/dryer since we traveled and hiked with 3 dogs. Thank you for being so dog-friendly! The home has more than enough space for us and was a cozy resting spot after long days exploring.

Great place to stay

I stayed here with my wife and three young kids and we all enjoyed our stay. The location is great as it is very close to a lot of beautiful attractions like the Porcupine Mountains and the Black River. The accommodations in the house were also very nice. Little details like the drawers in the kitchen being labeled with what's in them made the stay that much more enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again next time we visit this area.

About the host

Hosted by Kristy Widmann

Host profile image
I am a full time Mom of 4 and a part time registered nurse. We bought this house for a weekend get away and can't get enough of the Bessemer area! Our family of 6 fits easily into the open concept lower level but we don't spend much time at the house because there is so much to see and do. Our favorite places to visit are Black River Harbor-Lake Superior with stops to see the many falls on the way, Presque Isle River and waterfalls, Copper Peak, and Sunday Lake. We also love tube sledding at Mt. Zion and snowshoeing through the incredible amount of snow that falls here.

Why they chose this property

We bought this home from it's original owner that built it for his family in the 1950's. We have updated it throughout and continue to make improvements as we go.

What makes this property unique

LOCATION is everything! Close to miles of biking, hiking & snowmobile trails. Waterfalls to see and great lakes and waterways for your kayaking/canoeing adventures.
