The property is exactly like the pictures but better. The view is amazing, location is quite and comfortable. Easy access the many towns & hiking locations. Would stay again.
We had a great stay and enjoyed all the area had to offer. We’d definitely consider staying here again and would recommend a stay at Melanee’s cottage.
Exactly as described, but better.
Words can’t describe waking up each morning and seeing the great view and watching the activities of a small lobster harbor.
Great location, comfortable bed.
Everything we needed.
A lovely little cottage with a nice view and kayaks available ( watch the rocks))
The owners john and Melanee were both extremely nice people!
Thank you!
We had a great time in a quiet cove. The owners were friendly and answered any questions we had. It’s a quaint cabin that gives you the feel of staying on a boat. Loved it! Convenient location and beautiful.
The cabin was nice and cozy . It overlooked the bay and the working lobster boats. Very idyllic. The owner's dogs were friendly and enjoyed playing with my dog.
The neighborhood was safe and I enjoyed walking to the landing up the street.
Small, rustic and well-equipped cabin with phenomenal view of the water
The cabin is small but well-equipped, with everything you need for a comfortable stay.
The location is perfect for people who want to relax and enjoy the beauty of Maine.
The view of the lobster boats is amazing, and it is a great place to watch the sunrise or the sunset.
I had an excellent visit. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and small appliances. Everything was super clean; magazines and books were available (as well as good WiFi). I never turned the tv on as the view was spectacular. I wasn’t able to have an outdoor fire due to weather but everything was great. I hope to return. I look forward to doing more exploring as the area is beautiful. Also, very responsive with owners live next door. Thanks for offering up this quant little cabin for others to enjoy!!!!
We love this place. It's rustic, as described, but the cottage has everything we need and more. The owner is terrific -- friendly and helpful and immediately responsive to the smallest question. The area is beautiful, the food options wonderful, and we'll probably be back if the owner will take us!
Just what the doctor ordered…relaxation, amazing views, dog friendly…
As described…simple, but outfitted with all you need. Very relaxing…beautiful area, sites, and food.
Lobster right off the boat at The Wharf at bottom of front yard.
Dog had playmates and finding a rental where you can open the door and just let your canine run and swim was special.
Melanee and John were readily available to answer any questions.
Loved our stay.
Enjoyed watching the lobster boats and activities on Muscongus bay. Beautiful sunrises. Cottage was as described. Cozy and comfortable. The host was friendly but not interfering. Would recommend to friends and stay again. Thank you for a pleasant visit to Maine!
Cottage is rustic but clean in an amazing location. The view out to the boats moored in the water is one of a kind. We cooked all our meals in the kitchen and it worked well for us -- good sharp knives was a plus. Being able to walk down the dock and get the freshest lobsters possible for an excellent price was the highlight of our stay. Free access to kayaks was another nice amenity -- lots of coast to explore. The house is a little quirky (uneven floors and bathroom door is really a curtain), but that didn't detract from our enjoyment of this cottage in a picture perfect location.
We love cabins and stay in cabins all the time on vacation. we even own one of our own. here's what we loved about this one:
1. super comfy and well-equipped place.
2. toasty in the november (which is when we came.)
3. very responsive host.
4. such a fun area to poke around in, all within 60 minute drives. (check out the great hiking resource book at the cabin). bremen and bristol are such beautiful parts of maine. not as built up and mcmansiony as other parts of the state.
areas we especially loved: la verna preserve - amazing beautiful rocky coast hike ; pemaquid point when it's windy -- SO dramatic; ocean walk in boothbay; audobon hog island; kayaking in the back yard.
5. huge windows that face out on the water with such beautiful light, (the pictures on the website the site don't do it justice.)
6. fire pit.
be prepared for a a funky bathroom with no solid door between the bedroom. glad to hear melanee's planning on adding a ventilation system. that will make the cabin even more perfect.
we had a great time!
This was a great place to stay especially for my ADD husband who enjoyed watching all the lobster boats coming in and out as well as talking with the local men at the wharf. We had fun on the kayaks and also searching for lighthouses and going to museums! The cottage had a fully functioning kitchen so we were able to prepare all our own meals. The hostess was wonderful and immediately responded to any needs that we had and was very accomodating.
The location is superb -- just gorgeous. The cabin is as described and had everything we needed and more. (I suppose we could have used more powerful wifi, but this was minor compared to everything else.) The hosts were very helpful, accommodating, and friendly and we just enjoyed the whole experience there.
This is our second stay at John and Melanie's cabin. We enjoyed the short walk to the seafood co op. I also had fun swimming off the dock . The kayaks are fun and easily accessible. The view is incredible. Melanie and John are the perfect hosts who are very friendly, helpful and willing to make sure your stay is comfortable. If we are lucky enough ,to return to Maine, we will definitely book again.
This humble, rustic, cozy cottage was the perfect get away for me - away from congestion and noise of a city. Beautiful location. Many forms of entertainment in the area, with great recommendations from the owner. Owners are nice folks! Loved this place!
We enjoyed our week in Melanee's and John's cottage. We got an education about lobster fishing: watching the lobster boats leave in the early morning and return at night. And we bought lobsters right from their dock. Melanee and John were responsive to our questions and told us a lot about the peninsula. The cottage was a perfect size for the two of us. We had a great week.
We really enjoyed this little cottage for our week long stay. We were out most of the time, but it served as a very nice home base. We really loved taking the kayaks out and were fortunate enough to see a bunch of seals out in the lake.
Melanee was an excellent hostess, checking in via text a few times throughout the week, but mostly gave us our space.
This is a small rustic cabin with a great view of a small working lobster wharf and tidal river. Access to kayaks was huge plus as was the dockside seafood eatery only steps down the road. The owners were friendly and helpful when needed but nonintrusive. This is a great place for watching birds and seals and day trips to nearby towns and attractions. Can't beat the Maine coast.
