Nice old house with character. Plenty of space to spread out. Close to the lake and town. Good for all except those who have trouble with steps ( although there is a pullout couch a full bath on first floor).
We enjoyed our stay and the location is great. We had a view of the lake and dog sled run. The main rooms and bedrooms were fine. The bathrooms are dated and in need of remodeling (this might bother some people). The kitchen was okay with plenty of accessories. Entrance through the side door is rough and doors don't latch. Entering areas need an update and might bother some people. Overall we enjoyed the space. The host was accessible and her brother is local.
Loved our short stay here as the home felt exactly like that - home. Beautiful sprawling old home that’s a short walk away from Mirror Lake (visible from the home) - and from lovely restaurants with lake view. The home itself is equipped thoughtfully and plentifully for a comfortable stay.
We came to celebrate my parents' 55th wedding anniversary as Lake Placid was a vacation spot many years ago for us as a family. Huttlingers House is large enough to accommodate lots of people, with many sitting rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms. Easy walk to Main Street. Definitely reccommend!
We were in Lake Placid to ski and relax as a family. The house was ideally located, easy to access the shuttle bus to Whiteface and easy walk in and out of town. Nice park just beyond the house. The house had everything we needed.
Such a wonderful experience getting to stay in a large house in the middle of town!!! Everything went well from check-in to check-out. Hosts are quick to respond with any questions. The location is right next to the Whiteface Shuttle and a quick walk to the heart of town!!! Would like to return someday!

This old house was awesome! It was very spacious and comfortable. The location was perfect with a very short walk to the village and lake. Easy check in and check out. Would definitely recommend it!

Perfect
It's perfectly located and it's so different from our modern houses :-)
The owner was accessible and help us to plan ourself.
I recommend it for a big group (lots of space)
This charming old house built in the early 1900s has been a family property for many decades. We appreciated the history, the many antiques, and the very convenient location to downtown. All 4 of us were comfortable. The hosts were very helpful with local suggestions and they responded quickly to our needs. A great find in Lake Placid!
This is our second time staying at the home. It is a lovely older home that always seems to welcome us into it. There is a history of the house and pictures of the last family that lived there that gives it personal touches that I no longer see in other VRBO homes. The house is exceptionally clean. We enjoyed the back porch when the weather was nice, and the indoor porch when it was cooler. With older family members staying with us, the first floor bed was appreciated. We look forward to staying at the home again!

Huttlinger House
The Huttlinger House has a super location. It is only a block from Mirror Lake and the main street with shops, restaurants, and boat rentals. The house comfortably sleeps 13 people, it is roomy enough that everyone can find a quiet place if they would like. There is a sunroom that has a view of Mirror Lake. It is a bit old fashioned but we liked it. The owners were quick to take care of a small problem. We would stay there again if we are in the area. Owners and manager are friendly and helpful.

Perfect house for the 12 of us
We decided to use the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend to catch up on some hiking that we missed out on during the summer. We were so happy to have been able to book this house for our large group which included 8 adults (including grandparents) and 4 younger teenagers. Everyone loved the historic character of the home as well as all the space and bathrooms which allowed for everyone to both come together (12 people comfortably sat at dining table) and find some alone space (sunrooms, etc.). We had a great fires in the fireplace in the evenings and found everything we needed in the kitchen. Wifi worked for everyone's devices. Now thinking of a possible weekend stay for some winter skiing and/or a longer stay during the summer. Everything is as pictured and actually better in real life. Highly recommend.
The house is very nice, and the location couldn’t be better. Yes it’s old, with some things that are different from today’s standards, like separate hot and cold faucets in the bathroom sinks. But that’s also a part of it’s charm. Minor criticisms are that the parking is very tight for three cars, and a couple of instructions didn’t match. For instance, garbage bags weren’t where the instructions said they were. After spending some time looking everywhere twice I gave up only to find them at the bottom of the garbage can. But minor. I’d definitely stay there again. The owner was very nice and very accommodating.

The home we all wish we grew up in
This house is amazing. We had our daughters baptism at St. Agnes right next door. The location is walking distance to everything important in Lake Placid. There are three floors. Each room as unique as the next. There is a little coffee shop about 20 steps away.. We all spent a good amount of money there. There are plates and silver ware. We had the party after the baptism in the house. About 20 people attended the party. There was more than enough room for everyone. There is a grill there although we did not use it. The porch is the perfect spot to just relax at the end of the long day. The water pressure was decent in all 3 showers. There is a pull out sofa in a room that has French pocket doors if you want to sleep downstairs. Stove and microwave work great. Very clean, with comfy beds. There are air conditioners and fans all through out the house. I can't say enough about this home. I hope I have an opportunity to stay there again in my life.
Great interesting house conveniently located in Lake Placid
The whole family enjoyed this well kept 1908 house. It was well kept and enjoyed several indoor and outdoor areas for us to relax. It’s location was very conveniently located on the north side of town making walking around the lake and into town very easy. We would look forward to staying at the house again!
We loved this unique family home with a fully stocked kitchen and barware for all our cooking and entertaining needs. AC units in all the bedrooms for sleeping comfort and a beautiful big porch and yard enclosed by cedar bushes!
Wonderful location, view of mirror lake, walk to downtown. Beautiful history in the house - original wood trims, classic architecture.

About the host
Hosted by Tierney Beck
The Huttlinger House was built in 1908 and has been held by relatively few owners during its long history. For many years it was known locally as "the Cautin House" and was then purchased by Mrs. Luders, a pre-World War II emigrant from Germany, who established it as a guesthouse for nightly, weekly and monthly guests. Her guest register runs from the 1940's to 1953 when the house was purchased as a first home by newly-married Jerry and Anne Huttlinger. The Huttlingers continued the guest house business for several years, but this gradually tapered off as four children and numerous pets took over. For more than seventy years, the house has remained the family home and the scene of many family events. There were social gatherings to host a variety of guests, from world-renowned musicians to circus performers. It was home to the Sports Illustrated photographers during the 1980 Olympics. The Huttlinger House embraced all within it and provided a warm and comfortable home. The house is now jointly owned by the children who were raised here. All are settled elsewhere, but none wanted to lose the scene of so many happy memories. So we offer it to you, hoping that it will generate happy memories for your family and friends as well.
