About this property

View River, Marsh, & Wildlife from Your Hot Tub & enjoy Special Winter Rates!!

Looking for seclusion? This beautiful spot is a must!

Though Indian Pointe can accommodate up to five people, it is best appreciated as a romantic hideaway for 2. Enjoy all the comforts of home and more, while you relax in the outdoor hot tub overlooking the Kalamazoo River and Potawatomie Marshlands. (Please note that our nightly rate is for 2 and there is an added nightly fee for each extra person)

Bird-watch from the screen room, ride your mountain bikes, kayak through the marsh, cross-country ski, take your puppy for a long walk in the woods, then cook in or out...all with a view to behold. Chances are you won´t want to leave to dine out, but fine dining options in Saugatuck & Douglas are only a moments drive away.

Cedar walls, vaulted ceilings and an entire east wall of glass blend the house with its surrounding 2 acres of woods and river front. Snuggle in front of the fire, share wine on the screened deck, fish from the seawall, spot bald eagles circling the marsh, and listen to the ancient cries of the Sandhill cranes without leaving the property.

A 5 minute drive places you in the heart of Saugatuck, and in 7 minutes you can be stretched out on Lake Michigan´s Oval Beach, rated one of the 5 most beautiful beaches in the country! So whether your vacation plans include wild life or the WILD life, Indian Point will be one spot you must revisit time and again.

Other amenities include: WiFi, riverfront fire pit, DISH TV, Comcast Internet, central AC, washer & dryer.

Lovely get away
This was our second stay here and we loved it just as much as last year. The view out on the water is amazing and it is such a peaceful place to stay, listen to the birds, and enjoy nature. The many windows and screen doors allow you to enjoy the view even if it is rainy or too hot outside.

Spring weekend getaway
The home was perfect for my husband, dog, and I. Very clean and the location was exactly as pictured. We enjoyed all of the birds and animals along the river. Felt remote even though downtown Saugatuck and the area wineries were very close drives away. Communication with the host was excellent. Definitely recommend.

Beautiful view, embedded in nature
Had a wonderful stay and will definitely try to come again next year. All the windows and screen doors made it so easy to enjoy the weather and sounds of nature while still inside. Spent lots of time reading, relaxing, and working on our hobby projects (sewing for me, miniature painting for my husband). Loved eating out on the screened in porch, kayaking up and down the river, bird watching, and the easy convenience of nearby restaurants for food.

A Perfect Birthday
This lovely, secluded cottage was the perfect getaway for my husband's birthday. We got takeout dinner from The Butler in nearby Saugatuck, and enjoyed it on the beautiful screened-in porch listening to the sounds of birds on the marsh. The view of the river is breathtaking. This cottage has everything you need for a vacation.

Was any one here before we came?
All in all, a lovely area to vist. Quaint townships to explore and very well located for a quiet getaway. Spending time outside the cottage there were some downsides. The outdoor furniture was in disarray and dirty. The windows, and there are many, provide a senic view. Grill worked well, and conveniently located off kitchen. You had to shut the doors fast or a herd of mosquitoes would follow you in. And an incredible variety of spiders were outside and inside, if you are into that sort of company. Unfortunately we were not, and we were bitten by many. Maybe we were not outdoorsy enough for this place. Cool architecture in the 1967 house. Reminiscent of a Frank Lloyd Wright design, there were very streamlined details. That was very pleasant for the time spent indoors. But it felt as if the interior was very clean but not visited for some time. Huge bed, comfortable and 60% of the attraction here. Odd light switches, but eventually figured out what turned on what, even though labeled. Needed to turn on lights to turn on lights. Back to outside...hot tub. Had it been cleaned all summer? No attention to our arrival was put into its use. Kayak....We had asked about it before we came so we didn't bring ours. Big mistake. Plan for bringing your own or don't bother. And that was a focus for us. And we asked ahead. Not sure what happened there. There is an "induction" stove. Be sure you read up before you try to cook on this one. We planned to eat in 50% of the time. Thank goodness the grill was working well. Easier to use than the stove. We think the place has charm and unique features. The lack of outdoor organization was a disappointing factor. TV was not working well, if you need one. Blacked out between signals. We read more and had quiet time that was better anyway.

Getaway
We stayed for two days as a quick getaway. The host was kind enough to allow pets. We had to bring our own bedding. That was talked about ahead of time though. I made as many precautions as I could to protect everything from pets. We got to enjoy the hot tub one night the other night the rain stopped too late. The hit tub doesn't have enough lighting for enjoying in the dark. The bed was a bit uncomfortable and definitely needs an update, but the host was very receptive to the suggestions we gave for some work that can be done. The cookware is definitely older. I might bring my own next time because I'm more familiar with it. That could just be my own preference. We LOVED the screened deck. The dogs enjoyed spooking the critters that came by lol. Maybe even a leaf or two. We had all our meals out there in the nice day and got to see lots of birds. Especially swans. The cabin does have neighbors pretty close by so the hot tub doesn't have as much privacy as it appears in the photos, but not the end of the world. Oh and we were able to enjoy fresh air and play some board games. It's within a half hour of some dog friendly beaches. Our boys had a blast at Lake Michigan. All in all a wonderful stay and we look forward to coming back!

Awesome place!
This is one of our favorite places we have ever stayed. Everything about it is wonderful. We had everything we needed plus more. I honestly could have stayed at the cabin the entire day and I would have been content. I especially loved the surrounding neighborhoods to take our dogs on a daily walk. Everything was quiet, wooded, and people were very friendly. If I have to say anything negative I guess the bed is not very comfortable and after a lot of rain, the cottage smelled a little funky. I quickly found a couple of plug-in air fresheners to take care of the smell. Neither of these things were a big deal at all for us, but I guess it could bother others. We hope to return to this place in the future!

Birding Retreat
Loved the panoramic view of the Kalamazoo River marshland from most every room of the house. Thanks to warming weather, we spent most of our time on the screened-in porch (when not out enjoying all the area has to offer) along with a few dips in the hot tub. A very relaxing getaway. Thanks much!

Our favorite
This is our second time here, and I wish we could come way more often. It's our favorite rental anywhere. Inside the home is lovely with the full view of the marsh from every room. There was some newer furniture, including two super comfy recliners to just relax and read, watch tv, or enjoy the fire. Last time we came we really enjoyed watching the birds at the feeder, and it was strange this year that there weren't very many; however, there were dozens of swans on the water most of the time, which was really beautiful to watch. View from the hot tub is fantastic. While we planned on doing a lot of hiking as we have in the past, we decided we mostly needed down time, so we just enjoyed the property all day Saturday. Sunday we did motivate to do the hike up to oval beach and along the shore, before coming back to the hot tub and fire. :) The place is very clean, and the property is very pretty. You won't regret staying here!

Peaceful setting
You have a 180 degree view of the water from practically every part of the property. We loved waking up to the sunrises and watching the many amazing species of birds. This was such a peaceful retreat and a safe change of scenery for us during the pandemic. We brought our snowshoes and enjoyed hikes in the nearby nature preserve as well as Saugatuck Dune SP.

Joe and Lynda Petty moved to Saugatuck in 1983 when they purchased The Park House and converted it into a bed and breakfast. Falling in love with the area, we purchased the property at Indian Point to have a place to 'retire' once our innkeeping days were done. Indian Point was the first property in our rental program and it became such a successful rental that we only get to use it ourselves a few weeks a year.

Why they chose this property

The first time we took a drive down 131st Street we both said, 'Boy, we could sure live here!' Ten years later we needed a break from the inn so we took a drive to an advertised open house. When we walked in the door and looked over the marsh we decided we had to have the house. Even though it was the Saturday of Labor Day , we put the deal together before the end of the weekend.

What makes this property unique

Our 2 favorite activities are relaxing in front of the fireplace and sitting in the hot tub! We never even turn the jets on, preferring instead to hear all the sounds of the marsh at night. The grandsons really like fishing from the seawall and taking the 2 person kayak around the marsh is a wonderful way to touch nature. New in 2016, patio deck overlooking the marsh and flag stone patio with fire pit at the waterfront.
