I am creating a homestead based on simple but holistic living. The cabin has been built by myself with the help of family and friends over the course of a year and a half. There are a number of trails to walk on the 35 private acreage of rolling hills. This heavily wooded land hosts much wildlife and beautiful scenery including the flat river which is very close by. There is a sport court which provides opportunities to play basketball, volleyball, pickleball, or badminton. A recreational building is currently being constructed. The Fred Meijer trail provides great biking or hiking opportunities. Lazy float tubing or kayaking down the flat river is very popular and only a short walk away. Horse back riding, golf courses, and an amazing local bakery all within a couple miles. A food forest, natural pool/pond, and other projects are on the horizon. The property offers a chance to reconnect with each other, yourself, or the natural world in a simplistic and harmonious way. (there is no wifi) I hope you come experience it!

This is a lovely home for a more simple getaway. You can see the care and pride the owner takes in the cabin. The property itself is still very wild and sandy immediately surrounding the cabin but he has very well established trails for adventuring. There is a screened enclosed porch that is absolutely lovely. The only thing that I would say need improvement is the comfortability of the beds and pillows.
My family came into town for an event in Grand Rapids but wanted to stay in a VRBO outside of town. This cabin was perfect for our needs.
From the moment we walked in - it felt like home to us for the time we stayed there. The house was spotless and we treated it as our own. There is limited cell service in the area and no wi-fi on site - but we all need to disconnect at least once and a while - so it was fine for us.
The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were comfortable. We took advantage of the basketball court and discs for disc golf. My 14 year old daughter even the played the piano everyday we stayed. She said it was in tune and sounded great. We liked the privacy and seclusion of the place. The reading material in the house was vast and unique. We got lots of ideas of books to read when we got home.
We ate in Belding one afternoon at BC pizza and enjoyed & recommend the Spicy Chicken Cauliflower Pizza. In Grand Rapids we ate at the local favorite Mr. Burger. We took in a game at the Michigan Whitecaps and swam at Versluis Park. There is a small park with swings about a mile away that we used.
If we ever come back that way - we hope the place is available for us as we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you for the hospitality and sharing your home.
Very nice property and the perfect place to catch up with old friends. It is very quiet, peaceful and just relaxing. The basketball court was great and the trails out back were fun. The host made it easy for us. No issues at all, just a great weekend overall. -Jeff
My family and I stayed here last year and came back for round 2 last week.

The pictures and "description" of this property are dated and the description is not clear on amenities. There is no wifi for phone or tv (owner has corrected the description to indicate absence of wifi). The wood furniture is very uncomfortable and requires more cusioning. The entry porch is covered with dirt from drlveway dirt/wind going thru screen making the hammocks unusable. Weeds surrounding home were 6-7 feet high making the window views all but non-existant. We had no hot water but that was corrected by owner immediately. Owner was responsive to our concerns but we simply had to agree to disagree re: property needs. We abandoned the house on day 2 of our 7 day planned stay. The Owner reimbursed 1 day of our rent as per our agreement. Owner has a good concept but reality has not been achieved as of now.
This was a very unique place with lots to do! The only issue we had was no working grill, but i still managed to cook outside over the open fire which was fun. I definitely recommend this place. The online pics are a bit outdated for the current state of the outdoor chairs. Glad we brought are own.
Excellent place for some peace and quiet! Very easy from start to finish with check-in and check-out. The only con to this stay was privacy. We had no problem with the owner doing his work, but people showed up and first parked next to our car and then went to the building where the owner was working. Other than that, wonderful place! We’ll be back to see the progress of the property someday!
Had a couple of nights to escape with my daughter and best friend. It was the perfect place to recharge. Great wooded area to explore the footprints of other guests that rome the night. Even though it rained, and the trees were still bare, I felt like I was in another state exploring the great woods. Nature is pure medicine. I highly recommend making this cabin your vacation spot.
We had very enjoyable stay at the cabin in the woods. The work in the house was amazing. A very well put together cabin perfect for what we were looking for. The owner is going through and doing other things with the property to enhance it further so there is some things around the property to reflect that. Overall we had a great stay and the owner went above and beyond to mail us back a bag we forgot! Very greatful
Our family of four got to experience this cabin last week and enjoyed it thoroughly. The owner hand built the cabin and it really is beautiful. We enjoyed hiking around the property even on a snowy morning. Excited for the add-ons the owner has in store and hope to see how the property develops. The cabin is nice and close to a little town that has food and grocery store but also not super far from Grand Rapids where we got to take the kids to the children’s museum.
The property was fantastic!!! A storm came through and took out the power the day of check in. Michael was fabulous with communication during this time and we were in the property the next morning in time for our sons to drive up and join us as planned.
Thank you so much Michael. It was great and we plan to return in the future as the work you are doing on the property is going to make it even more fantastic.

The cabin is located in a very quiet secluded spot and it is the owner's main home.
The owner may do work on property near the cabin during your stay, so that is consideration if you want complete privacy. It rained the whole time we were there which means I couldn't say what kind of work/noise might be included.
It is a lovely home in the rain--super peaceful!
The basketball court was a hit with son and there were trails and canoes and a kayak we didn't get to try out because of the weather.
Perfect little Cabin, On many beautiful acres to just get away. Many trails to hike right there, river right down the road. Boys loved the basketball court with the extra lights to keep playing. No Wi-Fi but still had cell service. He had lots of books and videos to choose from. Everything you would need to reconnect with nature and your family. Love that he has many plans for the future to always keep up the property going. It was fun to watch a storm with all the windows. Would love stay again. The host was always in communication with whatever we need it. But everything was easy to find and had no issues.
This cabin was extremely clean and well kept inside. We stayed here to have time in Grand Rapids, Holland and Grand Haven. Definitely take the short trip to the nearby bakery for a treat and we did horseback riding close by too. Michael was super responsive. We loved relaxing in the hammocks each morning and my girls enjoyed the basketball court. Maybe we’ll be back to visit as the property progresses :)
Michael was super communicative and helpful. The property was really nice. Overall very chill. Only suggestion would be to enable some wifi or have Roku set up. I know he wants his home to be an oasis of sorts, but if he will share his home with others, accommodating those who have technology needs would be great. Still a great stay.
The cabin was beautiful. We enjoyed walking the trails on the property as well as the Fredrick Meijer trail. Enjoyed a bon fire each night even though the temperature was a but on the chilly side.
Would love to see the finished product when all projects are realized. Overall wonderful stay, very peaceful.
I recently stayed at Michael’s home with a few friends. It was exactly the relaxing getaway that we needed. The home and property are beautiful! We spent hours snowshoeing around the property. Absolutely perfect! Can’t wait to return!
Beautiful new cabin, peaceful surroundings. My wife and I had a relaxing weekend exploring Grand Rapids, and the trails on the property. Michael has done an amazing job with the cabin, and a treehouse is in the works! A great place to stay for peace and quiet, but close to lots to do in Grand Rapids. Highly recommended!
