Disliked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy
Renter Beware ! This Place Has mice:
We rented this Attached villa/Townhome for 5 nights thinking we would be in a clean, Covid 19 safe environment.
Negatives: (please see photos)
15 minutes after the owner left the property we called her and informed her of the poor condition of the property:
1. Bleached, paint stained and dirty cushions on the bench seating.
2. Walls, floors and rug were stained throughout the villa.
3. Microwave interior was rusted out.
4. TV did not worked properly and smaller than advertised.
5. 2nd floor loft was basically a large storage room with bins and boxes containing the owners possesions.
6. The toilet was not properly cleaned with dried urine stains remaining on the seat.
7. The kitchen counter and the other surfaces were dirty.
8. The grounds were unkept in the front-and back with debris in the front and tall grass and weeds in the back.
9. The kitchen sink was completely backed up.
We were told she would reduce the rates and make some corrections to state of the property. we still did not receive any reimbursements. The next morning while making coffee we encountered mice twice (1 in the silverware drawer, and one running across my foot in the dining area). Upon further inspection we discoverd mouse dropping in the silverware drawer and by the refrigerator (please see pics). The owner had Mouse traps throughout the kitchen. (Under the sink, under the cabinets and behind the refrigerator. This so call clean kitchen had spiderwebs behind canisters, in cabinets and on shelves. Clean huh.
We wanted to stay in a clean and pest free place especially during the spread of Covid 19(which I tested positive 3 days later after staying here)
This place does not look like the pictures! The views to the water were nice if you could avoid looking at the the roofless house that was destroyed and abandoned after the hurricane (great breeding grounds for rodents). The owner thinks that’s mice and roaches are a common thing and should be expected in the Caribbean (as stated in her text correspondence). The owner found humor in our concerns, stated that we were being picky and continued laughing at our concerns. We left that same morning. We rented several places in the US and the Caribbean and have never had the level for disregard for cleanliness, respect for human health, and common courtesy. No surprise, she refused to refund or discounts.
