Spent the night as we blazed a path across the northwestern US. Accommodations were sufficient for what we needed. Plenty of beds, very quiet neighborhood, and great views. Off the next day to hike Scotchman Peak. I'd recommend the hike, but it is grueling.
The location is great. The cottage is perfect. We were very concerned about No central A/C with the 100 degree temps but the window unit worked very well as we were gone exploring during the day & it cooled off nicely at night. The amenities were great. Flour, sugar, coffee, cooking spray etc. so nice to have those items in a vrbo. Great stay.
First rental for us via any vac rental service. Kim did an excellent job of communicating, letting us know what to expect, and with some ideas for activities. She was quickly responsive. Property is very nice and in a great but quiet area. The kitchen was far more stocked than in the photos. The cabinets have basically anything you want for any kind of cooking or meal prep and prior guests had left a drawer full of spices, and other kitchen basics. Very good experience, and definitely will consider using this property again.
We enjoyed our stay! We found the place neat and clean, equipped with everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the rural setting just a couple miles outside Bonner’s Ferry with views of the mountains. The property was well cared for as well. The only drawback we found was that the kitchen table is small and the tall stools not the most comfortable. Since it was only two of us eating meals, it wasn’t a big deal, but three would be a tighter fit, and there are only three stools FYI.
We were very pleased with this property! We had quite a bit of contact with the host prior to our stay and her communication was always prompt and thorough, and she even accommodated a special request regarding our booking. Very easy to work with! The property was as pictured and spotlessly clean. Great location too.
One thing to know if you are going in the cold months, the heaters were off when we arrived (understandably) and it was COLD inside and took a while to warm up, so bring some warm clothes!!
We would definitely stay here again if we are ever back in the area!
Quail cottage was perfect for our family of three — intimate, clean, well-stocked, and convenient (to the wildlife refuge, Snow Creek Falls, Myrtle Falls, Copper Falls, Kootenai Falls and suspension bridge, etc.) — welcoming us home with beautiful views of the sun setting over snow-clad mountains.
Extremely clean, comfortable, and exactly as advertised online. Overall very pleased with the stay, would highly recommend.

About the host
Hosted by Kim
We are new owners of this fabulous property, and new to hosting, so we'd love to hear your thoughts on what can make future guest stays even more enjoyable.
Why they chose this property
Quail Cottage is located on wooded acreage on a quiet, dead-end street. Situated on a rim lot overlooking the Kootenai River Valley and offering views to the west of the Selkirk Mountains. You'll find a peaceful, private space that will allow you to unwind from your busy city life. Enjoy nature on a bright, sunny day, or relax indoors if the weather turns and watch a storm blow across the valley below.
What makes this property unique
While the property feels as if it's miles from town, it's only 5 min outside of town. Enjoy a full kitchen for preparing your own meals or visit some of the local restaurants.
A fire pit, picnic table, and charcoal grill offer you the option of roasting marshmallows and barbequing burgers for a picnic-table meal, and star-gazing at night. Enjoy watching the neighborhood Deer graze at the perimeter of the fenced 1-acre landscaped lot, and if you're lucky, glimpse the occasional Bald Eagle soaring overhead.
