About this property

Welcome to your home away from home, where you'll find everything you need for a relaxing vacation. The lower level has a full kitchen, 1 bedroom, 1 full bathroom with a shower, laundry room and living room. Walk outside to enjoy the lakeside fire pit. Upstairs you'll find another full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, another full bathroom with tub and shower, and a spacious deck overlooking the lake. Go up one more level to the roomy loft with two more beds, a desk and more amazing views! This home sleeps 10 comfortably in beds.

Smoke lake provides a quiet oasis, and is connected to Little Pickerel and the fully recreational Pickerel Lake. The boating rules are set by Pickerel Lake Association - generally, no wake from 5PM to 10AM. Enjoy fishing year-round for Bass, Crappie, Perch and Northern right from the dock. (Boats may be available for rental at Powers Service Center right in Townsend, but make your reservation for it early!) Launch your boat or jet ski on Pickerel Lake and navigate through the channel to get to our lake and home where you can park your standard size boat. We do have two exterior cameras monitoring the driveway and the dock when the home is vacant.

PLEASE NOTE: Our dock is removed between Fall and Spring. (Specific dates depend on seasonal weather, but generally our dock is in place between Memorial Day and Labor Day.) If you are bringing your boat, or if having a dock is important to you, please inquire with us before you make your reservation.

In fall and/or winter, hop on your ATV or snow mobile and ride the connected trails which are only .2 miles away! There are places in Townsend or Lakewood that may have winter equipment rental for you, like snow shoes, etc.

Grocery and hardware stores, restaurants, and bars just minutes away. More dining and shopping is close by in the neighboring town of Lakewood. There are several golf courses in the area, and Carter Casino is 5 miles away.

Relaxing Family Trip

We had a lovely time visiting this home on Smoke Lake. It was quiet and relaxing. The home is beautiful, well-maintained, and stocked well with everything necessary for a great trip! The hosts were helpful and easy to communicate with. Overall a 10/10 experience!

Loved our 3rd stay!

This is our third winter stay here, and we continue to love it. Perfect layout for multiple families, plenty to do in the area, house has everything you need plus lots of things you want. I bet it’s fantastic in the summer too! Lovely view to wake up to, house is immaculately kept and tidy, and hosts are very responsive with clear instructions. Highly recommend!

Great fall escape

Stayed for opening weekend of deer hunting with our family hunting group. Pictures are very accurate and it is close enough to everything but you feel like you are very secluded. Wonderful cabin with plenty of room for everyone. Will be back next year for sure.

Sweet lil getaway

Had a wonderful stay at the Hummingbird house with my family. Beautiful property. We were all very comfortable. Utilized both kitchens and living spaces. Kitchens were fully stocked and we were able to cook breakfast and dinner for the few nights we stayed. Beds were very comfortable. Loved the location. Just minutes away from two different grocery stores and restaurants. Hosts had great and quick communication. I would definitely stay here again.

Peaceful Getaway

The property was accommodating for our family of 11 (4 adults, 7 kids ages 0-18). The setup of the kitchens and living space made the lower level the most convenient for us. It was a bit chilly being in the lower level but it was refreshing on the hot days. The lake was peaceful. We enjoyed successful fishing from the dock, the nightly loon calls and the family of swan family that came to visit right up to the dock on our last night. We were able to rent a small fishing boat to access the other lakes. You can navigate the channel but need extra care. Would highly recommend this peaceful cottage to others.

Peaceful lake

The home is beautiful and had everything we needed and more. We spent most of our time enjoying the quiet lake. The loons and swan family were great to see each day! We would definitely stay here again!

Best Ever!

Have been renting cabins for 40 years. This property had the best accommodations ever. Even had 2 ice makers that saved time and money. Dollar for dollar the best stay in 40 years. Hope to rent in 2024.

Tranquil and beautiful fall getaway

We had a fabulous time being near and with some family up north. The house was well equipped, beds comfortable and the view lovely. The deck is spacious and enjoyable for a crisp fall breakfast outside. Bad weather? Plenty of room on the lower level to enjoy the view out of the elements. We thoroughly enjoyed the quiet. Would certainly consider again when heading back to Wisconsin

Beautiful Lake Home

We had a great time and this property exceeded our expectations!The house is exactly as the listing shows, it's very clean and well maintained. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing getaway this is the home for you! The owners responded quickly and were very accommodating. Included in the rental are kayaks and a paddle boat. We used the kayaks and had a blast paddling around the lake. We have stayed at quite a few VRBO properties and this home has been one of the cleanest most well stocked. We will definitely be back!!!

Smoke on the Water!!

Smoke lake is a quiet peaceful lake. The house is fully stocked and very clean! Plenty of seating for the entire family! We enjoyed the solitude! Pretty much zero noise.

Beautiful place!

Our party had 6 adults and 3 children(6,4,& 1) it was set up perfectly for our family. The place was decorated beautifully. The kitchens were well stocked. Plenty of seating for all of us to eat together. The loft worked great for the kids, we could play games in the lower level after they went to bed and didn’t disturb them. We caught a lot of fish! It is nice to have the 3 lakes to fish and swim. The lakes were very quiet and peaceful! Only problem we had was the hot water tank had somehow gotten accidentally turned off. We texted the owners about no hot water, she called immediately and we figured it out quickly. Loved the quick response! Very pleasant to work with! We will definitely be back again next year! Thank you for sharing your place with us!

Great place for family gathering

We rented this property so my kids could have time with both grandparents and it worked great! The house is so well stocked with everything you could need! They even have have 2 stand alone ice makers that worked great! The lake was warm and great connecting channels for kayaking/canoeing. We brought a hammock and there were great spots for it! Very spacious deck, great for a slow vacation morning. We plan on renting again!

Tom has been coming to the area for over 20 years and always dreamed of having a place "Up North." Taunya grew up in the desert, so having a home on the lake is a dream come true. We really hadn't planned to buy a property yet, but as soon as we saw this one, we knew it was the one for us! We love coming here with our family and friends, and are happy to share it with you! We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

We love that Smoke Lake is so quiet. It's great to be able to paddle through the channel over to Little Pickerel Lake, then on to (the bigger) Pickerel, a full recreational lake. It really is the best of both worlds.

Spending time on the deck or around the firepit is awesome. The views are unmatched. And listen closely to hear the loons!

Our location is easy to find. It is so peaceful that you feel like you're really remote. Yet you'll find everything you need, from shopping to dining and more, just minutes away.

What makes this property unique

We fell in love the moment we walked in the door. We love that we can bring our whole family and everyone has plenty of room. We can enjoy big family meals at the dining tables, or coffee on the deck in the morning. We can sit around the fire outside, or by the fireplace inside. There's enough to keep busy - if you want to - with lake activities in the Summer or snow activities in the Winter. Or just relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the north woods.
