About this property

Relax in Architecture! Secluded, Safe, and Serene.

Welcome to the Falk House! Recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior, the Falk House is a treasure of mid-century modern design. We've transformed the original art studio into a stylish, private oasis, with expansive views of nature and Eastover’s Upper Twin Lake.

You will be central to all metro destinations, including amazing restaurants, bars, and shopping, as well as area hospitals, courts, and businesses. Long stays are ideal! Although we are not ordinarily set up for children or pets, please inquire and we can discuss the possibilities.

This is a two-acre gated estate. The guesthouse (used as the original owners’ art studio) was positioned for maximum privacy. The floor-to-ceiling windows allow abundant light and splendid views of nature. There are no window treatments. The brick-walled bathroom is connected to the studio by a glass passageway.

The Falk House is also available through a separate reservation for your special occasion, including rehearsal dinners, small weddings, and corporate retreats.

Please inquire about pets or children.

Great stay at the Falk House studio

You can see the pictures and they reflect accurately where you will be staying. Wonderful property, in a private setting in a nice neighborhood. Great views of the lake with a rustic patio on water's edge. Unique stay for sure if you enjoy a different type of space. We met Rusty and Lilly and the host Jake, and were treated like a member of the family. Would recommend to anyone looking for a secluded, unique stay in the Jackson area.

One of the best vacation rentals I’ve stayed in

My wife and I travel a lot and stay in both vacation rentals and hotels. This was one of the coolest houses I’ve stayed in. Great neighborhood, safe, comfortable. If you’re a fan of architecture, this is a must stay!

Quaint, Cool, Scenic, Embracing

I cannot say enough about my experience! The owners were professional, friendly, welcoming, accommodating, inviting and the space was scenic, quaint, convenient, and serene! I would recommend the space to anyone! When I return to MS, this would also be my VRBO of choice. Thanks to the owners for creating such a safe and pleasant environment.

A secret in the heart of Jackson

I lived in the Jackson area for 7 years and never would have guessed you could find a building of this style in a quiet neighborhood with such a great location and ambience. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect.

Perfect Vacation Spot

We loved the architecture of the entire home and the studio where we stayed was amazing. The first night with all the windows there was a thunder storm providing a 360 experience from the bed. The studio was exactly what was described. We would stay here again when in the area because the neighborhood was quiet with large mature trees that made it feel like we were not in the city.

Awesome Mid-Century!!!

John was a super host! Had a mother-daughter birthday weekend and it was awesome! Plenty of shopping and restaurants just down Lakeland Drive in the Dogwood Shopping Center. Enjoyed walking our pups around the neighborhood and looking at the various architectural styles and beautiful landscapes.

Relax and Enjoy

This property is beautiful and unique. The architecture stimulates creativity and imagination. We thoroughly enjoyed being surrounded by nature due to the glass walls. The hosts are proactive and accessible. The studio has beautiful furnishings and all of our needs were met by the thoughtfulness of the hosts. The environment helps you relax comfortably in between activities. Visually enjoying the natural surroundings even while sleeping was such a treat. We certainly would look forward to staying here again if we traveled to this area in the future.

Absolutely UNIQUE property!

Oh my goodness, where do I start? From the minute we arrived at this property, we were in awe of its uniqueness. The one bedroom (prior art studio) is completely open and surrounded in glass! John is an excellent host who provides luxurious sheets and towels, shower amenities, wood for the fireplace, and a wide variety of snacks and drinks! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The lawn chairs on the property overlooking the creek and lake were so perfect for taking in the beautiful foliage and chirping birds! To say this property exceeded our expectations is an understatement! I truly cannot do it justice with only my words, you’ve got to see it to believe it! Such a peaceful vacation! We will definitely be back!

Fabulous property!

We went for a long weekend and decided to stay at this place because the photos were just beautiful. It is located in a beautiful neighborhood in a tranquil setting. I told the owners that it look like we were in the middle of a Mad Men TV series. It takes you back to a mid century, modern style and is beautifully decorated, has lovely windows that let in such a natural light, and is very quiet. There was a bottle of wine waiting for us as well as drinks and snacks and coffee. There were even dairy and non dairy creamers which I appreciated. The owner is very quick to respond to all of your questions and needs. He even collected wood for us at the fire pit! I was so excited when the owner asked if we wanted to tour the main house. Did I ever! It was beyond expectations and was a great trip. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely the best!

We really really enjoyed our stay including our two dogs. There was lots of outdoor space for them to stretch their legs as well as sitting areas for us too. Our hosts John & Jake were absolutely the best!!! They provided extra blankets bowls and towel for our dogs and snack, refreshments, coffee and tea bags and anything else that we needed during our stay. They were very open to making sure our stay and future stays are always comfortable and suitable to our needs. The Falk House studio was absolutely breathtaking. The indoor fireplace was so cozy where I spend most of my indoor time during the day since it was cold during our stay. And the bed felt like a cloud. Words cannot express how huge of a deal that was to these achy bones lol. It rained the first two days there so it was relaxing to stay in with the nature background of the trees, grass, and stream that led to a bigger waterfront outside of the studio's door or seen through any of the windows from inside the studio. It was probably the quietest most relaxing vacation we had in a while. We will definitely be back! Thanks so much John & Jake for making our stay one to remember:-)

Untold A/C maintenance

Schedule maintenanceDuring our stay on the 3rd day without our knowledge and without any warning warning an AC maintenance event showed up and began to work on the air conditioner unit. During this time we had already made plans to go see a museum. Upon return, 2.5-3 hours later, we noticed that our door was unlocked and the maintenance man was still working on the unit and had free range of our "personal space. " He continued to work for at least another 30 minutes before leaving leaving and still there was no word from the property manager. All in all it's a beautiful property beautiful beautiful mid modern look grandmother in law but the communication was a little one sided.

Stunning architecture!

This is a little hidden gem. If you want to stay somewhere unique and fun, this is the place. It was quiet, all the windows made it so open and the hallway leading to the bathroom was so cool. With the cold weather the fireplace was so cozy at night. I will definitely stay here again.

Gorgeous house with luxurious amentities!!

We had an amazing long weekend at the Faulk house. The house is an architectural masterpiece! The guest house was so so beautiful. We just cuddled up to the fire, made ourselves cocktails with the mini bar offerings and gazed out at the beautiful fall foliage for most of the weekend. John and Jake were such excellent hosts. And they have decorated the artists studio (the guest house) in perfect midcentury modern decor. And also left us a generous helping of tasty snacks and beverages. Also everything was of such high quality, the sheets were super silky, the towels were literally the softest towels I have ever used, and the bath products smelled wonderful. It was like staying in a relaxing and luxurious resort, but with so much more character. Highly highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a weekend getaway.

Mid Century Modern Masterpiece

This property is just simply stunning!! I am glad I was able to stay here and cant wait to be back in the area to stay here again. The property is located on a beautiful 2 acre lot that sits on a stream. The pictures don't come close to doing it justice. If you are lucky enough to get John ( the owner ) to show you the rest of the house, it will amaze you. Dont hesitate to book this property!!!

About the host

Hosted by John Hooks

Host profile image
Jake and I have two dogs, Rusty and Lilly. John works as an attorney and Jake is a nurse at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Why they chose this property

In 1957, Meyer and Genevieve Falk employed a young architect named W.W. Easley II to create a bold design for their new Eastover home. While listening to Tychowski, Easley envisioned a giant swan, wings outstretched, coming in for a landing on the lake fronting the Falks’ property. The Falks were enthralled with Easley’s concept—a house shaped like a giant swan—and would continue their collaboration with Easley over the next three decades as they designed waterfalls, Japanese gardens, gates, fences, and, in the early 1980s, major additions of a natatorium and an art studio. We have transformed Ms. Falk's art studio into a light-filled, mid-mod retreat, private and secluded, while within minutes to all area destinations.
