Thank you for your interest in our cabin. It is a very quiet and cozy place to relax.
I want you to be aware of a few our policies. These are all things we've had issues with in the past. By booking you agree to the following rules.
1. No Smoking in the house or on the decks. If you must smoke please do so on the driveway or street and use the metal trash can near the lower entry to dispose of butts. It is in a very high risk fire area.
2. No Parties. Generally family birthday parties are fine but we have had issues with "21" year old parties thrown by families that have gotten out of control.
3. No Dishwasher on site. There is no automatic dishwasher at the cabin. All dishes must be washed and put away. There is a minimum $25 fee if the cleaners have to do the dishes.
4. The house must be generally picked up before you leave. Leaving full trash bag is ok but leaving trash all over the house isn't. There can be an extra cleaning fee if the dishes aren't cleaned and put away.
5. Dogs are fine but we also ask that you bring a blanket for your dog if you allow them on the couch or bed with you. We have had dogs in the past and understand accidents happen. We have carpet cleaner at the cabin. In the case of an accident please thoroughly clean up. All animal leavings need to be cleaned up. We also have individual cleanup bags for your convenience. No cats, we're allergic. Yes we had someone bring a cat.
Our place is dog friendly and has a fenced space behind for them to play. Maximum 2 pets allowed Must be House Trained No unattended pets left in the house. Should be on leash when outside. $100 fee per undisclosed pet discovered
6. The cabin is designed with all the bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs. The kitchen and living areas are upstairs. This means that during the day stairs would have to be traversed to use the bathroom.
7. Maximum 8 people staying at the property, without our expressed permission. The house is on a septic system and more than 8 people taxes it. The area is also very quiet and we don't want to disturb our neighbors. There are cameras on the front of the cabin overlooking the driveway and two front doors.
8. Thermostat settings. The cabin is equipped with an internet enabled thermostat. Please be considerate when adjusting the thermostat. Owners will be alerted when the thermostat is set really high or really low.
There are limited vents upstairs so the best way to cool or heat the upstairs is to close all the downstairs doors. Other things that help are to close the vents in the bathrooms and close one of the two vents in the master bedroom. Running both of the ceiling fans upstairs really helps with cooling and airflow. If the vents are adjusted properly there is no need to set the thermostat below 75 in the summer and 70 in the winter. Adjusting the doors and vents also helps when the wood burning stove is in use as it forces the warmer air downstairs.
EV charging is 15/day. Please notify us that you plan to charge your EV while you're on the property. Do not charge between 4pm & 9pm as electric rates are three times higher during this time frame. The daily fee doubles for charging during this time. Failure to notify us prior to charging or charging between 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. will result in a maximum four-star rating of the "following house rules" portion of the guests' review.
During the winter months we have a driveway snow clearing service. This is an additional fee of $80. please let us know the day before to have the driveway ready for your arrival.
We feel it's better to have set expectations before booking your stay.
Thanks again for you interest.

Nice place. Missing a few things: salt, small spoons. Oven was dirty so smoke came out of it while using it. The view was amazing the bed comfortable, the decorations were cute
We had a great family getaway with four adults and two children. Accommodations were clean and comfortable with a well stocked kitchen. In a quiet area with a great deck and outdoors spaces for outside activities. Expansive windows afforded great views. We enjoyed games and crafts around the table. And both cooked in and ate out.
We had such a fabulous stay at “the treehouse,” as we were calling it! The owner was very responsive and helpful, and easy to communicate with. The property was gorgeous, in a neighborhood near town, yet completely private. We loved exploring the large backyard, and watching the birds on the balcony (we bought unsalted peanuts at the local grocery store). The house was lovely, cozy, and very clean. (I am allergic to dogs so I was a little nervous when I saw that they allow people to bring thier dogs, but I had no issue, so that says a lot about the cleanliness!). The kitchen had everything we needed, and more. We explored the town, went on some hikes, and played lots of board and card games. It was a perfect family getaway, and we would absolutely love to stay again next time we are in Idyllwild! Highly recommend.
We had an amazing visit to Idyllwild. The owner was incredibly helpful and communicated regularly to ensure we had all we needed. We would definitely visit again! Thank you!
The house looks amazing from the photos and description - in reality it is actually better !
There is everything you could want in this house and more and we had the most fabulous stay. Having stayed in holiday homes across Europe and the States I can honestly say this is the best ever.
The home is beautifully furnished with comfortable beds and sofas and as a guest you really feel at home with everything from the fluffy towels to the selection of complimentary toiletries waiting on arrival.
The house was immaculately clean and kept at a perfect temperature not too hot and not too cold.
The kitchen was well equipped and everything easy to use with plenty of cutlery and cups, plates etc….
Access to the property was easy and straightforward and there is ample car parking outside the front door. The directions given were spot on and it was easy to locate.
Out on the deck you are entertained by the awesome local wildlife - we met a variety of birds and some very cheeky and cute chipmunks which played around the house and in the trees. Our favourite was the gorgeous blue Stellar Jays who visited every morning at breakfast time.
The local town of Idyllwild has a small supermarket and some great shops to buy local produce and souvenirs - we loved the pottery studio and purchased some delightful mementos of our trip. Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming.
Cannot fault this place or the location at all and we were not disappointed by anything. Thank you so much.

Had a great time with family!! Very peaceful getaway!! Michael was very attentive and a wonderful host!! I can’t wait to come back!!
Thank you for your amazing hospitality!!
We enjoyed our stay. The location is excellent. We found many sheets and towels in the dryer drying when we arrived. We folded them and put them in the closet. We also were not able to use the main bedroom fan because there was no remote. We thought about using the outdoor grill, but it was disgustingly dirty. I have stayed at other Idyllwild rentals that were much cleaner. You really can’t beat the location.
Wonderful cabin nestled in the treetops. The two decks were very special, one caught the early morning sunshine, and the other was a feeding station for local wildlife. There were nuts and birdseed at the cabin, and that paired with some apple slices bought in many varieties of birds and squirrels. We sat out with our coffee and breakfast, and watched them all eating theirs!
We explored trails and the town, all a short drive away.
This is a beautiful cabin, clean, well stocked, and with plenty of hot water. We had a much needed mini mountain retreat and left feeling refreshed. Exactly what we were looking for. Thank you!!!
Wow, wow, I know this review is a bit late, but better late then never. We had such an exciting trip. The cabin was beautiful and well taken care of. This is the first rental that was actually clean and comfortable. The beds were nice and comfy the family space was wonderful to just hang out in and play table games. We had a blast. The only issue was that the house is a top of a hill and the road up is a bit steep. We had two cars, luckily one was a awd. The other a 4 cylinder rav4 fwd, this car could not make it up the icy road. Try as we may, we couldn’t get the car up to the property. We ended up having to leave car at a community center and lucky we didn’t get a ticket or got towed. We also went when there was that freak snow storm, so that car was snowed in. We ended up having to shovel it out. I would just suggest that you have a car that can make it up icy steep roads if you go in the winter and there is snow. It wouldn’t have been one of our trips with out some kind of adventure. I also lost the house key in the snow when my awd almost got stuck as well. The host was gracious and only charged me the key replacement. I know others would have charged a pretty penny. Thank you thank you. I hope you will have us back next time we come up again.
We absolutely loved this property and the multiple decks. While we were there, it snowed and a creek was nearby that we could listen to out on the deck. The property has everything you could need and was very close to town. The owner was very communicative and very kind. We will definitely be returning!
This place was the perfect size and location for a family getaway. Just a couple miles from town. Great layout for spending time together, kitchen right next to family room. Lots of games and streaming options for entertainment. Highly recommend.
We had a great weekend!! We would stay here again. Clean, cozy, great location, has everything we needed for the weekend. Great for kids. Wi-Fi worked perfectly. Great communication with host!
We really enjoyed our stay. It was very relaxing and the home was in a quiet area, but close to town. The house was actually nicer then we expected and the kitchen had more amenities then what was listed. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the deck watching the birds. If you stay here, buy unsalted peanuts for the stellar jays. They entertained us and asked for more each morning.
Our stay was amazing! We were just 1.5 miles from town and there were so many great hiking trails nearby. Just a short walk down the hill from the house is a mountain resource center that has information on things to do in the surrounding area. I also have to give Michael a big shout out. He was very helpful and gave us recommendations on where to eat and some trails to check out close to the house. 10/10 will stay again.
The place was in a nice quiet area only 2 miles from Idyllwild, the WiFi worked great, we enjoyed the 2 excellent balconies, it has a wood stove which we used, our only issue was the stairs and much of flooring was very slick for our older dogs and that made it tough for them to get around on it.
We had a fabulous time in Michael's adorable cabin in the woods. Michael was very responsive, and we came back to Los Angeles completely rejuvenated ; )
