Amazing stay and great fishing!

This would be the second year we stayed here and we had an amazing time and made lots of memories! Only issue we had this year was water was so low so couldn’t get back to dock at the house so had to land and unland boat every time but completely out of their control! I would recommend this place!

Quiet with Beautiful View

Very relaxing and fishing was great! Great cabin with plenty of space for 5 of us. Beautiful area and lake which was surprisingly quiet as far as recreational boating. Caught quite a few crappie and bluegill without having to fish too hard. Would highly recommend for a relaxing getaway and for the casual or hardcore fishermen alike!and for the casual

Nice, clean place

Nice place, comfortable. Beds were good. Place needs electric down by the pier; that’s the only thing stopping us from booking there again.

Ice fishing trip 2024

The cabin was very clean, well stocked, and the washer dryer was a bonus. We were a group of 5 friends from Illinois who came up to ice fish. The Cabin had plenty of room for us. Fishing was good and we would definitely consider staying again when we get that way.

Beautiful northwoods vacation destination.

It was beautiful view to wake up to with the sunrise and the sunsets. The home is suited for the northwoods experience, with the family room with the fireplace and the 3 season room. We truly enjoyed staying here and will look to come back again. The owner was quick to respond to questions which made for a very pleasant experience!!!

Family Time

We stayed with our two adult sons with the goal of spending most of the time fishing. Locals shared that the water level was significantly lower than usual, which impacted the success of fishing. However – we really enjoyed the quiet time playing games in the porch and throwing beanbags in the backyard. It was exceptionally clean and comfortable. We appreciate the effort you put into making accommodations so comfortable.

Great Northwoods Experience

Very clean and well equipped cabin. The water level was low, (area is in a drought) but we were still able to use a rented pontoon without any problems, you just need to take it slow and watch your depth finder through the bay out to the main part of the lake. Bonus with that is you can kayak or canoe (we brought our own) in the bay without dealing with wakes! Level lot made it easier to get to the water and there is a good solid dock. Very responsive host to answer a few questions that we had. Enjoyed the week! Thanks!

Great Lake, close neighbors

Pros Lake had great fishing and sandy beaches for playing in the water. Caught 26" Walleyes, big bass and large pan fish. It accommodated whole family including dogs It had a nice screened in porch, stocked kitchen and was very clean. Nice firepit, lots of space for lawn games Air conditioning was nice on hot days. Located near Hayward. Cons The dock and electricity is a ways from cabin so if you plan to plug in electronics have a really long extension cord. Neighbors are very close and unfortunately they decided loud music from 8PM - 1AM was ok every night. Made the firepit and screened in porch unusable after 8. (Did talk with them and it helped for one night. (They also decided bathrooms were optional so not a good seen for families.) Pictures made it look like 3 queen beds, but note one room is full bunks, so bed was hard. King bed needs to be replaced it had 2 divots on both sides. Not enough "good" chairs in screened in porch or firepit to accommodate 6 without moving chairs back and forth. Location of cabin is in a shallow bay. CAUTION go slow. We raced back during a rain storm and hit a stump, thankfully we had a second prop. Lawn crew came middle of the day on a Wednesday during our stay, no warning. Had to pick up all our yard games and extensions cord, move cars and adjust our plans to accommodate. Would have been nice to have a warning. Overall we made the best of the week and we did have a good time.

Perfect fishing cabin

This place was perfect for us. My husband and I (our lab) along with 2 friends (plus a 3 year old) stayed for 5 nights. We have been coming to the Chip for 10 years now. We had 2 fishing boats we were able to tie to the dock for our stay. While the flowage was very low during our stay (neighbors and Pat's Landing all agreed they have never seen it so low) we were still able to get our boats safely into the bay. The boat launch near Pat's Landing is owned by the Town of Hayward and there is no parking and no dock. Just be sure you have 2 people to drop your boat in. One to drive the boat back to the house and 1 to drive your truck and trailer back (plenty of parking at the house). The house was very well stocked with everything we needed (blankets, pillows, TP, paper towels, etc.). It was very welcoming and comfy. Except there is no dishwasher here and they ask that guests sanitize the dishes before use. We did not have an issue with this only that the directions for sanitation require bleach and there was no bleach supplied. All in all great house! We would recommend for sure!

Nice cabin not so great location

We rented this property months ago with the intent of being able to bring our boat because we come to fish mainly . I had notified Jon about whether there was electricity at the dock to charge our trolling motor etc but there wasn’t. That we could live with however the water was so low at the dock and in this Chief lake Bay Area making jt too precarious to get a boat in There are visible trees in the water . We were hugely disappointed and believe this should have been mentioned somewhere in the property description . We were told by Jon after we arrived and informed him no way could we get a boat in that the “ water usually doesn’t get that low until October.”. Given the drought in this area someone should have mentioned the possibility of it now plus we knew nothing about it dropping in October because we weren’t sure of exact location. . To show up with a boat and then see how low the water was changed our whole trip. There are only two landings in the area to put a boat in and one wouldn’t let us leave our trailer and car there so that didn’t work. We did attempt to get to the cabin by boat but after hitting a tree decided to not risk docking it there . If the water had dropped anymore we wouldn’t be able to get it out. So that was upsetting to us This is why people need to leave reviews as I am to help the next person. Had someone mentioned it we would have asked questions. Jon should be following it through his connection there. We paid a guide to take us out one day just to get out on the water to fish. We were using my brothers boat so we didn’t have the capacity to put it in other lakes . The point was for him to bring boat to us to use for the week . That’s why we wanted a place to bring the boat right up to. The neighbor told us the water has been about foot and half at dock for well over a month. Had we known we would have cancelled. The cabin was nice and spacious and very clean. The furniture in the living room needs replaced. The one recliner chair is torn and falling apart and uncomfortable . The two couches are extremely low and one is so narrow no way could someone lay on it or even sit comfortably . We chose to sit on the floor over the furniture. The tv is nice with a decent selection of channels. The kitchen has a lot of pots and pans. Nice fish cleaning house . We got to use it once to clean fish from our guide experience . Weather was perfect .

Nice Lot Size, especially for dogs!!

This property is on the back bay of west end of the lake. Beautiful private inlet. A little shallow, a little woody, but beautiful and somewhat secluded. Pier was good for securing our boat. Dogs loved the size of the lot. Plenty of room for Chuck It. Nice sized cabin with appropriate finishes to be relaxing. Overall one of our best VRBO experiences. Alarm went off on our entry and we had no instructions on it. It was a Sunday, so couldn't contact property manager. We pulled the power, and thankfully that shut it off. Missed communication on that item, otherwise everything went perfectly.

Chief Lake House

Had a couple of issues and they were addressed and fixed. This was a very nice house, esp. the great room. The one concern we had was: we kept tripping the circuit breaker and it was not possible to run more than 1 appliance at a time esp the microwave, washer, dryer. We got used to it but it was rather annoying. We were five adults an truly enjoyed our week! Thank you!

Quiet, Spacious and Perfect for Fishing

We enjoyed this home so much as a family! Quiet area, big backyard with a perfect view of the water, and a remote bay right off the dock that had terrific fishing for Bass and Pike. Weather was beautiful, fishing was excellent, tubing and beach areas close by, and found a great place to eat within 5 min. The home was clean, bedrooms were big, there was a lot of room to spread out, and it was cozy! We used the large deck a lot, and ate and played games in the 3-season room. There was a great deal of room for all of our things we brought for the week. The 2 bathrooms were another plus. Although there is only one a/c window unit, the fans helped move the cool air around well and was fine even on 85 degree days. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed. I can't tell you how much we enjoyed your home!...Thank you for sharing it with us! We definitely would love to stay again! We come to the "Big Chip" every year!!
