Property was perfectly located with great views of the mountains and the wildlife. Had an amazing trip with an outstanding place. Hope to rent this again in the future!
I can't remember a VRBO stay I have enjoyed more. Sunsets in the Smokies was the perfect place to relax, unwind, and just be. But, we were also perfectly located for visiting Franklin, and an easy drive to Sylva, Cherokee, and Bryson City. Our hosts were easy to communicate with, and had really thought through what makes a house feel and function like home. From a well organized kitchen to extra blankets, sheets and pillows, we really needed for nothing.
We loved the treehouse feel! The whole house was clean and beautiful. The location was very private and peaceful. It was just what we wanted and we would definitely stay there again!
This home was very cozy and located in a beautiful secluded spot. It was easy to get to and not to far from restaurants and shopping. We very much enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying again.
The house was beautiful, comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen and we were greeted by a few deer in the driveway upon arrival. We were able to sit on a porch swing and enjoy the rain one afternoon. We enjoyed the beauty and peace of nature all around.
We experienced a wonderful week in Sunset in the Smokies! The house was everything we expected plus more. It is a perfect distance from town (~15 minutes), and is nestled up on a quiet overlook. The kitchen has everything we needed, there’s a nice gas fireplace, and a fire pit on the back deck. Also, communication with Rhonda was easy and she responded quickly. It was so nice getting back after a busy day, knowing that we were lodging in a comfortable place that complimented our trip perfectly.
We stayed in Sunset in the Smokey's for a week and really enjoyed the stay. The property was pretty and the house was comfortable. Felt like a home away from home.
On our first morning we had 2 deer in the drive way and we knew our stay was going to be great, The place is perfect and Rhonda is a great host, The sunsets from the back deck were very nice. We can't wait to go back.
Loved every minute of my stay. The home was well equipped, communication was great, the views were fabulous and the location was perfect. This sweet home is so peaceful with very few neighbors and perfection for driving to many small towns, close to some yummy restaurants and only an hour and a half from Asheville.
We had a great stay.House is as advertised. We have nothing negative to say about our stay. I would love to make future reservations for myself and my husband but we usually travel with our 2 small dogs and they are not allowed.
Great home. Host provided simple extras that were greatly appreciated. The little homey touches felt like you were more than an outsider. Maybe a quest that was welcomed and wanted. Area was great to visit. Waterfalls were easy to find. Information in binder was extremely plentiful and easy to understand. Highly recommend this rental. Hope to book again in the future.
Cabin was actually clean, something we're sadly not used to. Very well stocked with amenities, towels were super soft, and everything worked that we used; loved the combo coffee/K-cup maker. The location was perfect for us and everything was very convenient. What I mean by convenient: grocery stores (Ingles and Walmart a few minutes away), restaurants (within 20 minutes a lot of variety), garbage drop off (7 days a week), etc. The driveway is a bit steep and with our large Silverado 2500, made for an interesting climb up; 360 cameras really came into good use. Internet speed was good enough to stream the two TVs and still surf on three devices. The area is very quiet and feels secluded. Hot water was hot and water pressure was great. You do have your choice of a soft or firm mattress between the master suites. If you love winding roads take HWY 28 to Bryson City! I was hating the fact that I drove up vice road up on the Harley!
Kindness goes a long way with me! Every interaction with Rhonda was nothing short of kindness! The cabin was perfect! Views were beautiful! Having two master suites was amazing! Not having to climb stairs was wonderful! And the price was by fair the most affordable around! I can not do it justice in a review, so you will just have to see for yourself!
We booked this house as a double vacation. My oldest son and I went for a Focus meet at the Tail of the Dragon. My wife and younger son were along for the trip and ended up touring by themselves. The location of the property worked well for both of us. We spent the majority of the time around the Dragon while they spent time in Franklin, Georgia, and South Carolina. The house was well equipped with everything we would need. The porch was amazing for relaxing and watching the sunsets. We can’t wait to come back again and stay longer.
Sunsets in the Smokies is a fabulous "cabin" near downtown Franklin so it's convenient for necessities, but far enough removed that it feels remote.
The cabin is perfect for two couples or more. There are two large bedrooms with en suites and walk-in closets so it's easy to stay organized. It is perfectly equipped with everything you could need and more! We especially enjoyed the fireplace and deck.
We will definitely recommend Sunsets in the Smokies and will be back!
Everything you could possibly need or want in a great location for relaxing and/or seeing lots of the beautiful creation of our Lord!!

Hi ! We are Rhonda & Dan 👧🏼👨🏼 Thank you for checking out our little slice of heaven in The Smokies! My husband Dan, was born in Daytona Beach, one of the few natives of Florida! He has been known to be called “Florida Cracker” I grew up in Iowa, no, not Ohio or Idaho… Iowa, that wonderful state that is in the heart of and the good ole USA . The corn 🌽 state ! I came to Florida when I was 18 and have been here ever since. We have 3 grown daughters and 4 amazing granddaughters !! They all keep us busy ! We love traveling, boating, hiking and camping just to name a few 😉 We bought the cabin in Franklin in 2020 after Covid because we weren’t sure what was going to happen with our jobs, etc. For the past 20 plus years we have always traveled to Franklin and the surrounding area. We knew eventually we wanted to retire there. We were premature in purchasing our “retirement home” because we weren’t retired yet 😆 so we decided to share our home and all the beauty and serenity it provides . We have been hosting since 2013. We moved from the West coast of Florida to the East coast to be near family and used our previous home as an air bnb as well. We love sharing our cabin and all it has to offer. We love hearing all the wonderful stories from our guests of their adventures and memories made while staying here! Glad you stopped by and we hope to share our beautiful cabin with you and your family !
Why they chose this property
To be honest …. It was 2020, we were in Florida and the housing market was just beginning to go crazy. We bought the cabin sight unseen 😬 Boy were we blown away when we finally got up here to see it! The drive to the cabin alone was spectacular!! We fell in love immediately when we saw it. ❤️ So much better than we even imagined. It is so peaceful. Secluded but not remote. Our neighbors are wonderful however each home is separated by at least 2-3 acres. We love sitting on the front porch and watching the families of deer grazing in our yard. Our favorite has to be sitting on the back deck and watching the sunset in the evenings. Sitting on the front porch watching the moon rise is a close second. 😊
What makes this property unique
Our cabin is unique in several ways….the windows! The beautiful light that filters in through the day and into nighttime. When you are in the cabin you feel like you’re in a big treehouse . Its breathtaking! You can watch the moonrise in the front window and the sunset in the back without even going outside! The location is perfect, 10 minutes from downtown Franklin, less than an hour away from the beautiful Nantahala River and just over an hour from the gorgeous “wild and scenic” Chattooga River.
