About this property

Renovated Log Cabin, EV charger/Near Hikes/ BRP/waterfalls- FirePit/Game Room.

Built almost 50 years ago, this two-story cabin was completely renovated in 2021. We are located 40 miles from the Asheville airport, a short drive to the ski resort, Harrah's Casino and the Biltmore Estate. Hiking, biking and tubing are nearby. Relax on the two porches or enjoy s'mores at the fire pit. Spacious kitchen for cooking family meals; bathrooms on both levels and several gathering areas. Cozy up in front of the gas fireplace (Seasonal October- March) or enjoy a puzzle in the nook. Easy access year-round, EV charger.

Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms and a full bath. We spent over a year renovating the entire cabin to bring it up to our high standards of what we would want to see in a short-term rental property. We hope you will enjoy spending time here as much as we do.

Vacationing with your motorcycles? We are motorcycle and trailer friendly! Our road is paved, and we have a wide, flat driveway to park and store your motorcycles and trailer. We can easily accommodate a 20’ trailer to make your stay worry free and enjoyable.

We know that being in the mountains means you want to enjoy your time outside. We have set up several outdoor areas for you. Out front, our porch has Mountain Views and space to relax. We have feeders for hummingbirds, and they are daily visitors during the summer months! Sip your coffee while our mountain birds glide back and forth from the forest to the feeders just above your head! Our covered back patio has an outdoor game room, and you can hear the peaceful creek beyond the split rail fence. Continue out back and there is a spacious grilling area and a large fire pit with plenty of chairs for the whole crew! Bring your s’mores fixings, this oversized fire pit is perfect for making tasty treats!

Our cabin is set up to provide maximum family enjoyment when the weather turns bad. We have a game nook where you can gather to listen to classic records, put together puzzles or play board games. Our family room has a gas fireplace, a 50” television and plenty of room to relax after a long day of hiking, skiing or exploring. Our fully stocked kitchen has all the items needed to prepare a family meal, including a crock pot, bakeware and pots/pans and spices.

We have parking available for 3 vehicles. If you are bringing a trailer, please message us prior to booking to determine if there will be space. Please do not block the driveway, garage or entrance to the private residence above the garage.

On-site we have an EV charger (50 amp) which is free for guests. If you are planning on using the charger, please message the host directly for the charger location and instructions. Outside we have a grill, corn hole boards and plenty of space to spread out at the fire pit. Our cabin overlooks the valley and there are views of several mountains. We have a desk area in the kitchen with a CAT 6 outlet for faster internet speeds. We provide starter toilet paper, paper towels and washer/dryer supplies. We welcome you with snacks and bottled water and coffee with cream/ sugar on your first morning with us.

When it’s time to cozy up to the fire pit, you can buy wood locally at Lowes or you can purchase wood from our log racks. We go on the honor system and accept Venmo payments for wood purchases ($5 for a bundle of 7 logs). Feel free to burn any downed limbs on the property, but do not cut live trees or shrubs. There is a hose next to the basement door to put out the fire at the end of the night.

Maggie Valley is centrally located, when you stay with us, you will be close to Smoky Mountain National Park, Asheville, Cataloochee Ski Resort, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We are about 45 minutes from the airport, making your arrival and departure easy. Creekside Cabin Rentals is located 5 minutes from downtown Maggie Valley and the fairgrounds.

There are several areas for you to see the wild elk, including the Oconoluftee visitor center and Cataloochee Ranch. There are many local breweries in the area, the closest one, Bearwaters brewery is 10 minutes from the cabin. Maggie Valley has a number of restaurants, shops and activities for those days when you don't want to travel far from the cabin. We are about 10 minutes from the fairgrounds where there are many events and festivals for you to see throughout the year. At Creekside Cabin Rentals, we understand how important family is and we always welcome children. Being that this cabin is almost 50 years old, there are parts of the cabin that are not child proofed. We encourage parents to consider this when deciding to book our space. Parents, if you are traveling with children, please be aware of potential hazards and take responsibility for your child's safety.

Your hosts will not meet with you while you are staying at Creekside Cabin Rentals. However, we are available via the app for any issues that arise. In addition, our maintenance man lives next door and will address the rare issues that come up and need immediate attention.

Please be aware we are in a mountainous area with no trash pickup. We have two trash cans for your use. Please remove any trash from the property that does not fit in the cans. The closest trash station is 30 Mauney Cove Road Waynesville NC, about 15 minutes away. Please be aware that the station is open Monday thru Saturday from 7:00am- 5pm. They are closed on Sundays and major holidays.

Being that we are in a mountainous area, there is little access to Uber or Lyft. It is highly recommended that you rent a vehicle if you are traveling by plane. Our cabin is less than 1/4 mile from the main road, so access is easy year-round.

Great cabin and stay
The cabin was wonderful with all “the extras” for a nice stay. It was very clean and instructions for all of “the extras” helped a great deal. The location is easily accessible and close to everything in Maggie Valley as well as Waynesville.

Family Vacation
We stayed at the cabin from Friday to the following Saturday. They did a beautiful job restoring the cabin. There was plenty of room, the kitchen had everything that we needed, we enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings as it was still cool enough. It was also located close to Blue Ridge Parkway and Waynesville, which was great. We would definitely stay there again!

Visit to Cabin Creek
We came to Maggie Valley to catch some trout. Success (18 in 4 hours)! We celebrated that evening around the fire pit. We all were pleased with the renovations to the cabin. The kitchen was stocked making our dinners easy to prepare and enjoy. We hope to visit again!

Beautiful cabin
This is by far one of the nicest and cleanest VRBO’s we have stayed at. The cabin is new remodeled with very nice furnishings. I went to Maggie Valley for a car show and had plenty of room to park my car trailer and room for vehicles. Very close to town for food and things. We had a great time and a great place to stay!

Great escape!
We had a wonderful time at the cabin exploring the area (Smoky Mountains) and just relaxing at the property. The cabin was perfect for what we were looking for and was very welcoming and clean! After two days the kids wanted to know when we were coming back! Will definitely plan on it. Hosts were wonderful and very responsive to any (minor) questions we had, and also mailed back a few items we forgot.

Motorcycle Trip
The owner Shan was great with communication. The cabin was awesome from arrival. This was probably one of the best cabins we have ever rented. The owner had thought of everything from Spices in the cabin to laundry detergent. The games were a very nice touch and gave us things to do in our down time. The owner even took the time to label the light switch, so you knew how to operate everything. The location of the cabin was great and just enough of the main road you were not in the busy traffic. We will definitely be back

Cute and cozy cabin
Plenty of space and updated amenities. Located next to permanent residents that are less than tidy and the owners of the cabin live above the garage. We had everything we needed and more so the lack of privacy wasn’t a huge issue. It was close to everything in town

Perfect cabin
The cabin was so cozy and comfortable, the owners thought of everything. Was not expecting a cabin to be this well appointed. Fireplace was perfect for relaxing after the slopes. Outdoor fire pit area is nice, especially the cool lighting. Great location, close to skiing and tubing. Will definitely stay here again!

About the host

Hosted by Shad Rice

Host profile image
Welcome to Creekside cabin. We are excited you chose our home for your vacation. Your hosts, Heather and Shad are from Florida and we have always enjoyed spending time in the mountains of western North Carolina. We purchased this home to share with our family and friends and are now opening it up to new guests as well. We spent over a year renovating this cabin and spent a lot of time making sure the changes both honor the original cabin and add modern conveniences. We hope you enjoy your stay.

Why they chose this property

Creekside Cabin is an authentic handmade log cabin nestled in the heart of Maggie Valley. Whether you are sipping coffee on the front porch, listening to the calming creek on the back patio or roasting marshmallows at the fire pit, we hope you have an enjoyable stay with us. As you tour our cabin, you will notice many handcrafted details such as a 75 year old locust handrail and newel post from a tree that was cut in our front yard. Our entry table is made from a locally sourced tree stump and lovingly finished by the owner and a local craftsman. Our bathroom vanities were designed and built by a local cabinet maker with over 50 years experience making cabinets.

What makes this property unique

This cabin drew us in from the moment we first saw it in 2020. The peaceful location, large number of trees and creekside location made this property irresistible. We enjoy having the ability to see the mountains from the front porch, but not having to drive up steep, windy roads to get there. The rough cut logs, fireplace and natural lighting in the cabin make staying here a true rustic vacation. With central heat and air, high speed internet and energy efficient windows, this home is cozy and has everything you expect from a mountain get away.
