Stunning Ranch Home with Ocean Views

The Acorn is located 2 miles south of Carmel across Highway One from Point Lobos State Park - one of the most magnificent and picturesque areas on the West Coast. This property is located on approximately 5 acres on the top of a knoll overlooking Carmel Bay, Pebble Beach and Point Lobos. Surrounded by open space and park land, the Acorn is a very private setting yet only a 5 minute drive to a new Safeway, shopping and Carmel-by-the-Sea shops and dining. Golf, scuba diving, hiking, beaches -- all close by. Big Sur is a scenic drive just 40 minutes south on Highway One. In addition to the main house, there is a charming guest house with full accommodations.

The Main House: The main house features a king master suite with sliding glass doors that provide romantic, breathtaking views of Point Lobos and Pebble Beach and access to the home's expansive deck. There is also a queen bedroom with separate bathroom and dressing room that also has access to the deck via sliding glass doors. Two additional bedrooms each have two twin beds.
Guest House: The guest cottage is a charming, cozy 2-room cottage with a king bed, full bath, kitchenette and laundry. This unique cottage provides ultimate privacy from the main house should you so desire. Yet it is close enough to provide additional guest accommodations for friends or family.

We allow a maximum of 8 guests, including infants and children.

Please note , no Events of any kind are permitted at The Acorn Ranch Home.

Great ranch house for a large group of friends

Unique old ranch, very well equipped, with horse, cows and turkeys walking around for a peaceful feeling and lots of fire places for group nights. Being across from Point Lobos Park a huge plus. Our group of 8 loved it.

Good times in Carmel

We were very happy with the house. It is a very unusual house with lots of interesting and unique features. All of the amenities were high end. The horses, cattle, and turkeys roaming the pasture were enjoyable.

All that we had hoped for.

I take an annual golf trip with 7 other men, We look for a place where we can relax, chat and eat together in a low key environment. This home really filled the bill! It easily accommodated 8 of us. The large well stocked kitchen with a table for 8 in front of a large fireplace was the perfect area for breakfast and dinner. After dinner we convened in the living room, also in front of a roaring fire. It was a bit chilly during our stay so we didn't get to spend as much time outside enjoying the grounds as we would have liked. Expansive decks with an amazing view of the California coast from Point Lobos to Santa Cruz would make for the ideal place to unwind with a glass of wine and share time with friends or family. During our stay the owners of the property were very helpful. The home is well appointed. Our group left looking for reasons to return.

Heaven!

We had a wonderful stay at The Acorn! It was SO hard to leave! What a heavenly spot to enjoy in between fun outings. 3 Generation Family Birthday Celebration

We celebrated our daughter and sons 35th and 32nd birthdays with their spouses, our grandsons (4&1 years) and 2 golden labs. The house was spacious, furnished with everything we needed, had the most spectacular view, close to Pt Lobos, beach and Carmel, and provided our family with the perfect setting for a fun and relaxing vacation! We loved watching the horses in the pasture as well as the coyote, bobcat, turkeys, heron, bunnies. It was truly magical for our grandsons. Hope to come again! Thank you very much!

Mixture of wonderful and kindness.

We happened to be at The Acorn during an atmospheric river event and gale-force winds. I cannot say enough about the support and understanding we got from all the Whislers. Even though the weather was challenging, the house was solid and warm and comfortable, especially with the two fireplaces. The view was as spectacular during the storm as it is on beautiful sunny days. It is a VERY special place and we WILL be back.

Lovely Stay

What a wonderful home

This was our second stay at the Acorn. It is truly perfect for our family. So comfortable. We had four adults and two small children. Both the house and yard were exactly what we needed. We are from the East Coast, while our son and his family live in San Francisco. The Acornhas already become part of our family tradition. We are hoping to return many times in the future. Point Lobos state park, right across the road on the ocean, is spectacular. Sincere thanks to the Whisler family for making the Acorn available for guests!

Serenity at The Acorn

I cannot say enough about how lovely The Acorn was. The views! The history! The peace! We saw 4 types of hawks, osprey, deer, wild turkey. Simply breathtaking. From the moment we stepped inside, we knew this was exactly where we wanted to be - the house is stocked with plenty of linens and paper products and has a nicely set up gourmet kitchen. We will be back for sure!

Absolutely Gorgeous

We came for Rennsport with some friends and stayed in the Acorn house! We loved having fire in the kitchen with our coffee and breakfast and the fire in the den in the evening with our wine. The house and property have so much history and we loved getting to read and see all the stories throughout the house. Thanks so much for sharing that with us. We will definitely be back!

Gorgeous home, Incredible views

We spent a week at this lovely property with five of our good friends. The home was perfect. Enough rooms, bathrooms and wonderful living/dining spaces for all of us. From lounging with our coffees in the living room, nightly card games and meals in the huge dining room to lawn games and BBQ dinners with an ocean view, this wonderful home was a treasure. Patrick and Sarah were wonderful hosts. They not only prepared us with everything we needed to have a successful stay, but keep us informed of local events that might have impacted our visit. We will definitely be back!

Family weekend at The Acorn

Lots of space for our family of 8 to spread out. The house has a large LR, dining room, master bedroom. The other three bedrooms are small but did accommodate 6 people. We loved the outdoor spaces and the two horses who would come to the edge of the lawn (fenced) to visit. The views from the house are gorgeous and it was hard to leave them today. The fireplaces were wonderful at heating the LR and dining areas in the morning. The owners let us bring our two King Charles dogs at an extra cost. They enjoyed their stay as well. You are across the Highway from Point Lobos so it’s an easy walk for those inclined 4 of our group walked over. The three year old won’t go in a stroller so we went to the park instead. You are 2 miles from the Carmel Crossroads shops and restaurants and another 5-10 minutes into Carmel proper. There are three beaches that are a short distance away. Pebble Beach is probably 20 minutes by the time you navigate Carmel. Easy for a wonderful lunch and great views of the golf course. I can add more later Susan and Robert Crist

Relaxing ranch overlooking Point Lobos & Carmel Bay

Very charming ranch with lots of comfortable furnishing and rustic charm. Overlooks horse pasture which was very cool . The views at all times of day are amazing. Close to everything … grocery , gas, Carmel sunset beach , Point Lobos tidal pools , short ride to Big Sur . Very relaxing location! Highly recommend!

Feast for the eyes

Great trip. Loved the property, history and beauty. It was charming and so inviting. The owners were great communicators, there was a bottle of wine to welcome us, and every supply you’d need. The one glitch we had was having to go through the bathroom to get into the Queen bedroom. I don’t think this would bother everyone, but one of our members did not feel comfortable with this.

Fabulous location, spectacular views.

This was definitely a magnificent experience. The history and pictures add to the story of this magical place. We loved seeing the horses in the pasture in front of us, as well as deer, coyotes, and wild turkeys. Great owner that is very available to contact. Highly recommend staying here. The Gorgeous Acorn Ranch Home

This lovely, creative, comfortable and joyfully quirky historic home has big windows and peaceful decks to enjoy the views of Carmel and the ocean. The beds are heavenly and it was nice to wake up to the turkeys and watch the horses in the pasture with breakfast. It's a quick drive into the town and Carmel Valley. It was the perfect stay for us with 3 generations of family as we celebrated my niece's wedding. A big thank you to Bud and Mary's family for sharing your family's home and history with us for a few days. We hope to be back.

Truly A Hidden Gem

Wow, what an amazing place! It was spacious enough for my young adult children and their partners but ample living spaces to hang out in. Kitchen had everything you could want for cooking. My kids say it’s the best family vacation we have had in a long time. Perfect for a well behaved dog, and there is even a dog run with a gate. We will definitely be back!

Breathtaking View

The property is as advertised…and better. View of the Pacific over a horse pasture filled with wild turkey, geese, rabbits and other wildlife. The house is a treasure - large and exquisitely designed. Sara was very responsive.

Gracious charm!

The Acorn (as the property is named) is a charming, very comfortable, and beautifully located home. Overlooking a field, Carmel Bay, and Pebble Beach in the distance, the setting is serene. We enjoyed seeing deer, turkey, coyote, and horses nearby, and waves pounding rocks in the distance. The home is very gracious - we so enjoyed the kitchen / great room, separate living room (both with large rock fireplaces), and extensive decks. Our retreat group of five adults were very comfortable in the various bedrooms and bathrooms. Well-located to Carmel, Carmel Valley, Monterrey, and Big Sur. A hike in Point Lobos Park, within walking distance from the house, is not to be missed. And the Whisler family are wonderful, experienced hosts. All in all, a wonderful stay.

We're in love!

This was/is the most wonderful home any of us have ever been in. It has a fabulous combination of family history, antiques meaningful photos, maps and community. It has all sorts of cool little details, architectural and otherwise. Three of us were either real estate agents or brokers and couldn't stop exclaiming about little things we'd noticed. AND I haven't even mentioned the location and view! It was a dream come true and we hope we can find a way to return..
