The home is in a beautiful setting and fit all of our needs for a few days of ice fishing and relaxation. 5 stars in this category. The water on the other hand was not so great. I understand it's in iron country but it was pretty gross both stained and smelly. We could not drink the tap water, didn't feel clean after a shower, and bought gallons of water from town to drink and cook with. I suggest the owner do better at maintaining the filtration system or install a more robust one that can do the job. If not then be very clear in the listing that the water is virtually unpotable and to bring your own. I don't like giving negative reviews but this is the truth.
We love this Cabin! Very Clean! Spacious and perfect place to relax and enjoy the Northwoods! Chris is fantastic, very responsive, generous and kind. We love our trips to the Northwoods! Will be back!
We loved our week at the cabin and hiking the old growth forests of the Northwoods and U.P.! The cabin is spacious and well equipped with all that you need for a relaxing stay. The night sky is brilliant plus we had the bonus of experiencing the northern lights during three nights of our stay! Chris is a responsive host but we really had no issues throughout the week. We hope to return in the future!
Great, quiet property out in the woods on a beautiful lake. Boat slip for a boat, but a little bit shallow. Great outdoor space for relaxing. Host very responsive
We had a peaceful relaxing time. Went to Bond falls and up to Porcupine Mountains including Lake in the Clouds. Also went to the lumberjack show in Minoqua. The location is great. Not in a busy location and so quiet while sitting by the lake. Weather was great and we enjoyed Swimming at Black Oak Lake just toward Land O Lakes. The beds were really comfortable. Nice size bedrooms and nice bathroom. Enjoyed sitting by the fire pit two nights, but last night rained. We brought our projector and screen so watched a movie since you had internet. That is a plus. Thanks again for sharing your cabin.
The place was near perfect. The location & the scenery were outstanding. Unfortunately, the tap water was poor. As we showered, it discolored our hair and finger nails; we used bottled water for cooking. It was still well worth the price.
The photos of the dock and the pier from the listing are not accurate , all is failing apart! So many stamps and dead tree in the water + shallow water - unable to fish from the premises But the major concern is a water in the cottage - yellowish to brownish all the time and incredibly stinky ! Honestly don’t know how someone can lease a place with such a bad water, shouldn’t be some kind of minimum criteria that owner should met before list the property for rent? The lining sheet wasn’t washed too - glad that we brought ours.
Had an absolutely wonderful time staying here with my two small dogs. We did have a few rainy days during our stay and really appreciated all of the books and records to give me something to do. As soon as I entered the house and began to look around I said I couldn't wait to come back. The house was just filled with so many thoughtful little touches from the notebook full of stories from past guests to a stocked bar and chilled glasses in the freezer.
Chris’ cabin is great! It’s in a perfect location between Land O’ Lakes and Boulder Junction. We easily jumped about to the best restaurants and art studios the county had to offer!
Overall we had a good week at Chris’ cabin. We had our 16’ fishing boat and there was plenty of room onsite for parking the truck & trailer. It was easiest to back in from the road rather than trying to turn around in the yard. We chose not to moor the boat at the pier to avoid trying to navigate around the stumps. The property is conveniently located only 2.5 miles from the public boat launch.
The deck was very spacious and we were able to use the gas grill for most dinners.
The king size bed was very comfortable and all linens were clean.
There was an issue with the water iron filter and Chris responded quickly, but due to timing we didn’t have a plumber come while we were there. We are confident that Chris will have it resolved soon. We were able to manage with it while we were there.
Everything was great!!! Chris was very responsive to any questions that we had....where to leave the garbage, etc. The home was clean!!! We didn't arrive until dark and needed to go to dinner, but wasn't sure if the heat would be turned up. It was so great to be welcomed with the lights on and heat ready to go!!! Cabin had the basic items that we needed.
I would just suggestion hand towels and wash clothes. Great location! Planning on returning next year. Thanks Again!!!
We have stayed here multiple times both during the summer and winter. Always an enjoyable time for my husband and I along with our dogs. The view is always amazing and the stay is always without any issues. We will be back again soon!

Why they chose this property
There's no better place to get away from it all. Phenomenal fishing, or just watch wildlife on the gorgeous lakes. Close to many great golf courses, and superb bicycling paths all around. Ten minute car ride to the General Store for fresh coffee and breakfast, or all your staples as well as adult beverages.
What makes this property unique
Surrounded by six wooded acres, and only one (excellent) neighbor, you are truly alone out here as much as you want to be. The lake is twenty steps from the back porch, and a long pier amidst the lilly pads takes you to a relaxing bench out on the water.
