Leave the hustle and bustle behind, relax, unwind, and enjoy what this unique property has to offer. Perfect for large groups of friends or families. Tranquil lakefront home (weedy in summer months), spectacular sunsets, large spacious rooms, everything is here for you to enjoy. Outdoor features include deck, firepit, dock, kayaks, canoe. Star gaze into the vast sky at night or maybe catch a glimpse of the northern lights.

Beautiful, spacious home has loads of natural light and roam to room throughout. Everything is here, just put away your groceries, unpack and enjoy your stay. Beds for 14. Main floor offers large kitchen/dining area with 2 refrigerators/freezers, living room, sun room, 1/2 bath, laundry room, spacious master bedroom/bath. The lower level boasts another large living room, poker room, game room, full bath and 2 bedrooms.
In the loft you will find a large open sitting room which leads to a large bonus room with 3 beds and a large closet. Dish cable in the main & lower living rooms and also master bedroom. Starlink Wifi. Games and plenty of things to do inside and outside! View the gorgeous sunsets from the deck, kitchen or living rooms patios year round!

Quiet location and almost at the end of a dead end road. Outdoors offers upper and lower decks, large fire pit (firewood provided, please do not bring your own). Stargazing is amazing on a clear night. Many eagles, swans, ducks around the lake. Listen to the owls at night or the coyotes howl. Deer wander through the yard in mornings and in the afternoons. Might catch a glimpse at a bear. Several lakes to fish from for northern, bluegill, LM bass, rockmouth bass, and yellow perch.

If you are looking for a secluded, quiet get a way without the hassle of tourists, this is the experience for you. Lake here is quiet with an abundance of natural beauty. Located at the mouth of the Shakey river feeding the Shakey lakes system. Lake at house gets very weedy and marsh like in the late spring/summer/early fall months, although the channel stays open and is great for kayaking either through the winding channels back to the Shakey river or over to the large open recreational lakes. Beach area at house not ideal for swimming/muck bottom. Shakey Lakes Park is a very short drive away and offers swim beach and ice cream and snacks. Located on a small chain of lakes that you can enjoy fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and motorized water sports.

My cabin renters do put in/take out kayaks from Lake House dock.

There is also a cabin that sleeps 6 on the adjoining property which is also listed. If you are needing more space for reunion's, large gatherings, etc. Please inquire about availability and cost if this is something you are in need of.

I am available through text or phone if any questions or concerns arrive during your stay.

The Menominee River and multiple boat launches are very close. DeYoung's family zoo is a must while you here. Many waterfalls close by in Marinette County, visit small quaint towns within a short drive. We are also within 2-3 hours of many Upper Peninsula attractions along Lake Superior or Lake Michigan.

Gathering for friends and family.
This beautiful property perfectly accommodated our group of 14 and we learned there is another rental adjacent to the property that sleeps 6 if we should have a larger gathering in the future. There was plenty of space with two large family rooms, a bar room, and a game room. The spacious kitchen was fully stocked and we spent hours gathered around the large dining table that overlooked the lake as we ate, shared stories, and played games. We spent time on the upper and lower decks, enjoyed kayaking the peaceful waters just before sunset, and ended the night visiting around a warm fire. We all agreed to return next year and make this our annual spot.

Beautiful home on the lake.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The fire pit down by the water was wonderful. Plenty of space in this house to spread out. The deck was great for watching the sunset. Lots of hospitality items when we arrived. Communication with the host was immediate. Thank you!

Off Grid Bach Party Fun
A bunch of my friends and family stayed here for my bachelorette party and absolutely LOVED it. It was the perfect get away of peacefulness and fun. All the girls got their own beds and even complimented how comfortable the mattress and sheets were. We had such a beautiful view of the channel. Heather was extremely on top of it with communication and helpfulness if needed. Would highly recommend!

The Perfect Weekend Getaway
This beautiful lake house is just what our group needed for a little weekend getaway! The sunrise kayaks, beautiful scenery and wildlife, quiet location, large yard and campfire, and incredibly beautiful house with rooms dedicated for games/cards exceeded our expectations! The house and property have everything you need for a great weekend. The host was incredibly kind and responsive and having the house to ourselves made it feel just like home. Highly recommend and we would love to stay again in the future!

Amazing House
Our stay was amazing. We had 14 people in our group. Friends and family. We enjoyed our stay! The house was great, clean, well stocked. We all agreed we needed to stay another night. The kitchen and dining area sat our large group well. The deck overlooks some pretty scenery. Some of us went kayaking and did some fishing off the dock. We sat around the fire pit until 2am one night. We had great weather and and even greater time in eachothers company.

A Great Family Reunion Spot
The Lake House more than met our needs and expectations for our annual summer vacation with our nine kids and one kid-in-law. It was spacious, clean and comfortable with modern amenities yet adjacent or close to wilderness adventures, including canoeing and kayaking through the beautiful, winding Long Long channel, hiking and swimming at nearby waterfalls, and making day trips to Lakes Michigan and Superior. The lake in front of the house was not great for swimming and the house's air conditioning was hard to figure out (it was set too low for our preference; probably a user error), but overall the location was ideal for boating, chilling around a fire, preparing big family meals, and spending time together. Heather also went above and beyond as a host, dispatching her brother with an industrial-grade jack when my van suffered a flat tire on our first day at the property (the tires were shot, we didn’t run over anything on the property). We had a wonderful, relaxing time and highly recommend the property and host.

Family New Year's Trip
The stay was absolutely perfect! The place is beautiful and very large. Plenty of room for a large group. The loft is a perfect space for young kids. We had 7 cousins that ranged in age from 8 - 14 years old. The other bedrooms are VERY large and plenty of room for the parents. The dual living rooms are great as well with a fireplace in both. The downstairs was my favorite being a natural wood burning fire place. Highly recommend.

Gorgeous Stephenson House
The house was positively perfect for our size of group; clean, large rooms, fun digital activities and beautiful location. Our only negative was that we were vacationing for a family Thanksgiving and had to travel to Beecher/Pembine each afternoon/evening. That was on us; however, a little distant. Loved the house! Beautifully decorated for Christmas!

Beautiful house
Amazing house with all the amenities! Even a fully stocked toy room for the kids! Heather was lovely to work with and so responsive. Only downfall was the overgrown weeds in the lake, we did make the short drive to the beach and enjoyed some sand and ice cream there. Overall great weekend and tons of memories made with our family!

Perfect Getaway Close to Home
Beautiful accommodations, plenty of room, everyone had their own space and privacy. Kids’ loft area was stocked with lots of books, games, movies, etc. On-site kayaks, lots of firewood with gigantic fire pit. Nearby zoo for a fun day trip, quick ride to Shakey Lakes Campground for beach swimming. Lots of wildlife sitings to include a bald eagle, blue heron crane, fish, and frogs. Quiet, secluded, and peaceful. We would love to come again!!

A MUST RENT HOUSE!!!!
This place is absolutely gorgeous!!!! From the photos on VRBO we weren't expecting much, but when we arrived OMG we were all blown away at how beautiful this lake house was! So family&kid friendly!!! Heather & her husband are amazing host! Probably one of the best I've ever had! They are so thoughtful with what they offer in the house from the games to the dvds! Just SPECTACULAR!!!! The only part we were bummed about was the lake. It was so swampy we weren't able to swim in it, but Heather did warn us about the lake. I would rent this place again in a heartbeat!!!! Thank you for the memories!!!!!

This is a spacious, clean, remote, recently renovated property that our party of 10 enjoyed. The managers/owners are very responsive and offered great tips on how to take full advantage of our stay. Great fire pit, plenty of spaces to congregate, plenty of indoor activities (games, movies, satellite tv) if the weather is not cooperating, successful fishing off the dock, and some of the best kayaking we've seen yet. You might get to see a bald eagle circling overhead, as we did on one kayaking outing.

Beautiful Home and Great Host
From the moment we entered the house we felt so welcomed! It smelt wonderful and Heather left a few welcome gifts. This is the 5th home our group has rented and it is the 1st one that we haven’t had to bring any of the basic supplies of toilet paper, paper towels, detergents, hand soaps, beach towels etc. The house was so spacious with 3 different living areas to spread out in. The kitchen had everything we needed. Including a crockpot, a 12 cup coffee pot, a few 9x13 pans, a couple cookie sheets, a can opener, measuring cups and spoons, lots of different sized mixing bowls, and a mixer. We had a fridge issue with one of the fridges and Heather’s husband brought over a different one for our use. She was a wonderful host! The only disappointment for our group was the lake. We were expecting to be able to swim and play near the house in the water. Unfortunately, the area in front of the house is more like a marsh with channels that connect to the lake(at least during the summer). Our boat with a trolling motor was able to get in and out, but we had to all go as a group to the public beach to play. Heather tried to warn us about the lake, but we underestimated what she meant. It took about 20 minutes to get from the house to the main part of the lake by boat. 25 to get to the beach. The house did have a sand area which our kids played in a lot, but we had to go to the beach to swim. I cannot say enough good things about the house tho. If you are wanting to get away, kayak a little and hangout outside - this house is exactly what you are looking for!

Family trip 2021
My family finally got together post Covid and I wanted to find a great place for our family trip/reunion on or near a lake…. I hadn’t seen them for 18 months ! This property and the host were perfect for us! Beautiful, clean, organized, plenty of room! We cooked together, played games, made puzzles, kayaked, fished, walked, and sat around the cozy fire pit area in the evening. We rented the cute cottage next door which was the perfect quiet spot for my parents. The host was very helpful and communicated with us before and after our stay and I would highly recommend this property as the perfect spot for family time or a getaway with friends.

Amazing place!
From the moment you drive in & open the door, the fresh scent you are welcomed with is just the beginning of how this owner will impress. The view is beautiful, the firepit is beautiful, the master ensuite is gorgeous, great island with well appointed kitchen, & spectacular living spaces throughout. Winderful welcome basket, a little playroom with air hockey & basketball, a playloft with karaoke & more, comfortable beds, 4-car garage with bikes, pier with kataks & canoe, and the fishing was great too! Many memories made! And if this isn't enough, these owners are adding a bath to the loft and wanted to know how/what they could do to make our stay more fabulous next time. Well, they are looking into WIFI (too bad we even need it...haha!) And I suggested a small fishing boat to rent would be a nice addition to explore the rest of this great body of water. This owner was amazing to communicate with and will be a siperhost soon! Never felt so cared about by an owner!

WOW!
If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway with all the comforts of home, look no further! First off every bed in the whole house is so comfortable! From the mattress to the super soft bedding. The amazing view of the lake was breath taking from sunrise to sunset. Heather has every kitchen appliance and cookware you possibly think of. We didn’t have to bring anything with us, just the food and snacks for our stay. Another bonus was there two refrigerators in the kitchen which allowed extra storage for our beverages without compromising space for food. The loft area was perfect for our 5 and 3 year old to play and hang out while still being under our watchful eye. This would be the perfect hangout spot for any pre teen/teenager to have their own personal space. They had their own TV with a huge variety of DVD’s to choose from. Not to mention board games as well as a coffee table that was also a chalk board! Heather and Mike had a nice hardcover book explaining details about their house as well as a few local establishments to visit. We of course had to visit DeBacker’s Family Dairy Farm for ice cream and cheese! This was our first visit and certainly not our last! Thanks again Heather and Mike!

About the host

Hosted by Heather Lutz

Host profile image
I was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula and always loved the "Shakey Lakes" area. I grew up with the previous owner of the property and my family and I rented the small cabin from him in the summer of 2020 and absolutely fell in love with the property and purchased it in October. We have done some extensive updating thus far and over the next year will hopefully complete it with new carpeting in the downstairs and some fresh landscaping. When we are here working, the setting is very serene and relaxing. From watching the swans, eagles or the wildlife or just taking in some of the beautiful sunsets, we thought this would be a great place to share the experience with others looking to get away and relax.

Why they chose this property

The home is located in a very rural setting and is near the Michigan/Wisconsin border. You have many options for waterfalls, UTV/snowmobile trails, fishing, sightseeing, or simply staying in and relaxing. There are maps and guides located on the property to help you decide.

What makes this property unique

Everything is here for you to come just come and relax.
