About this property

⭐The Blues Room - Downtown by MUSC⭐

Summary:
The Parson Inn is located in historic downtown Charleston one block from Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Our Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood is considered the "Gateway to the Peninsula". There are a number of local restaurants, bakeries, and other small boutiques. A spa, yoga studio and an Italian sandwich cafe are within steps of the the front door. The Blues Room has a shared bathroom with one other guest room. Parking is provided onsite for one car. License # OP2018-00253

The Space:
The house is a traditional Charleston single house built in 1852. It has been renovated but still has its historic charm.

The Neighborhood:
The neighborhood is surrounded by the Medical University of South Carolina. It is a vibrant community that is just a few blocks from King Street, where you will find restaurants, bars and shops galore. Our neighborhood has restaurants, a yoga studio and a spa within steps of the house.

Getting Around:
You can either walk, bike or Uber to most any place. Parking is supplied onsite for one car and there is street parking available for other cars. The MUSC parking garage is also just steps away. We suggest an economy size vehicle to navigate the narrow downtown Charleston streets.

Beautiful Stay!

Miss Karen and Samantha were wonderful and accommodating. The property we stayed out was well stocked and clean. The parking was comfortable. We felt safe. And anything we needed. They were only a text away!

Great Value

Room is just as advertised. Great location, clean and we enjoyed our time there. Good restaurants in walking distance. The bottle of wine that was in our room was a nice surprise!

Quick get away

My friend and I stayed a night here and it was absolutely amazing. Perfect distance to everything. We biked everywhere. The room was perfect, just what we needed for someone who had never been Charleston (my friend is from Oregon). I would absolutely go back!

Karen, the owner was a super super host. Our room was great and she left us a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio, a welcoming had written note. The room came with a shared bathroom that was beautifully finished in tile from floor to ceiling. Thanks Karen

Perfect Location for MUSC!

We came to shadow at MUSC, and we were in the perfect location! The house and room was perfect! Super cute, and the amentites and communication were great! It’s a walk to King Street, but the walk is beautiful and takes you through campus! Will definitely think about coming back :)

Charleston Visit

The online picture makes the room look a lot more spacious and modern than it is. It wound be helpful to have a place to store clothing vs living out of a suitcase. The bathroom situation is not ideal, but we knew about that ahead of time. It helps that the bathroom is cleaned daily. The noise factor is an issue. Given the property is next to a major hospital, expect frequent landings of the medical helicopter at all hours. The property reminded me of a hostel set-up and people come at all times of the day, some louder than others. Karen did generously offer bikes to us to explored Charleston, which was wonderful. We very much appreciated that! Karen is super nice in person and was responsive to messaging while we were in Charleston. She made some really good recommendations of places to eat and visit. Being a host myself, I would recommended sending out check-in information sooner, since we spent most of our arrival day traveling on planes, and it wound have been helpful to familiarize myself with check-in details ahead of time.

Hostel vibes

While we were apprehensive about the shared bathroom, it was never an issue. I do recommend shower shoes due to the wet hair from other guests. Maybe I’m just a clean freak. I don’t like sharing with strangers, but I have stayed in countless hostels in my travels and this seemed okay. I do recommend shower shoes due to wet floors, hair and mildew. As a woman, I get it, we shed, but I don’t love stepping on a strangers hair when I shower. I simply wore my sandals in the shower! No biggie. As for the room, my friend and I were excited by the pictures of the room. The picture shows a small, quaint room that appears crisp and clean. The room was rather cramped and tired. I’m 5’9” and hit my head on the slanted ceiling dozens of times. We just didn’t feel like spending time in our room. Also, due to the set up of the home, I felt like even our conversations could be heard across the hall. For sure the TV is heard downstairs. Hostels are fun and that’s exactly what this felt like. A place I would’ve killed for in my early 20’s. Just missed the mark for us.

Great room and host!

We really enjoyed our stay here at the Parson Inn. Karen was a great host and was very responsive and checked in a few times to make sure our stay was going well. The bathroom was shared with another room but she made sure to clean it multiple times a day. This place is also in a great location and was a quick walk to downtown !

Another Great Stay in Charleston!

We are regular VRBO travelers and would rate the Parson Inn as one of the nicest, best located, and real value of all the places we have stayed. This is our second time at the location, we just had to come back! The place was very clean, modern, had everything we needed to feel at home, and was an easy walk to all the sites we wanted to see. Also just a few blocks to dozens of restaurants and cafes. Communication is always prompt and is greatly appreciated. We would highly recommend the wonderful Parson Inn!
