Enjoy a peaceful lakefront retreat on Deer Lake, “The Lake of Changing Colors”, one of the clearest blue water lakes in the United States and a unique northern Minnesota treasure. Deer Lake is an inviting year-round vacation destination. The beauty is unparalleled in all seasons of the year. With high speed Wi-Fi internet service, Deer Lake Chalet is also a perfect work from home vacation getaway. Deer Lake Chalet sleeps 11 with 2 bedrooms, additional loft bedroom, living room futon, family room sectional sleeper. That number increases to 14 when the bunk house (air conditioned) is open (May 15th- Oct 1 - subject to the weather). The bunk house is available to paid groups of 12 or more or 75.00 per night for smaller groups.. Spend your days boating, fishing, and swimming with a private dock, beach and convenient lake access, then fire up the grill each night for dinner in towering pines overlooking Deer Lake. For a change of scenery, explore the thousands of acres of Chippewa National Forest, nearby hiking, snowmobiling, Nordic skiing and snow shoeing. With a fireplace, sauna, loft, and fire pit this Northern Minnesota chalet will quickly become your year-round home-away-from-home! (Summer check in/out day - Friday)

Winter Weekend

The house fit our every need. Check in process was seamless. Rooms were decently sized and decorated nicely. WiFi was strong and consistent. It was quiet on the lake and at night it felt like there wasn’t another soul around for miles. We can’t wait to return!

Great location. Accommodations smaller than expected.

We enjoyed this area very much. Unfortunately when we arrived at the property I had to spend the first moments of our vacation vacuuming the entire house, including the couches and wiping down surfaces because there were so many dead ladybugs all over. We appreciated getting a heads up from the owners that there was an increased number of ladybugs outside, however, we were surprised no one checked the inside of the house to vacuum the many bugs before we checked in. This home comfortably fit our family of 6, but I would not recommend it for more people than that even though the listing says it can accommodate more.

Fun fall getaway

Stayed here with friends for an annual fishing trip. The Chalet was great! Wonderful accommodations and the listing matched up exactly with expectations. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Beautiful property on a beautiful lake!

I can't say enough nice things about the property! The house was clean and well appointed. The fire pit and yard were great for evenings. The dining room table easily fit our 9 people (4 adults and 5 children). We spent all of our time on this beautiful lake. Fishing was spectacular off the dock and out of our boat. There was a small sandy beach with a shallow portion for the kids. There is a quick drop off but we found this quite nice as it allowed us to do some great swimming and jump off the dock. The kids really enjoyed the paddle boards and kayaks. We brought our boat and kept it at the dock. There's power right off the dock so we were able to plug in the batteries with an extension cord. The public boat ramp is right down the road from the house and a very short boat trip to the house. The lake itself is a beautiful teal color and very clean. Jon was great to work with and very responsive. The hill up and down from the lake is a steep one but is clearly stated in the description and we did not have any issues (great leg work out). We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Cozy Winter Getaway

What a wonderful escape for a winter weekend! The snowy view of the lake was beautiful, and we definitely enjoyed the warmth of the wood stove on a cold winter day. Jon was very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. Awesome stay and great hosts...maybe we will have to return for a future summer trip.

Stayed mid October, beautiful time to use cabin. The king in loft with foam top mattress knocked me out, everything we needed in well appointed kitchen, great views. Played cribbage in t-shirts on deck, evening used free Hulu, Netflix, would recommend and do again.

Peaceful Hideaway

This property is all that we hoped for and more. The home is nestled into a hill along the edge of a beautiful, clear lake. The furnishings are so comfortable, you feel right at home. The kitchen is well supplied, plenty of towels in the bathroom, games, books, & a beautiful welcome gift waiting when we arrived. We enjoyed the sauna, paddle boat & beautiful drives in the color studded forests that surround the home. The owners were also very attentive to any questions and quick to respond when we reached out to them. We would highly recommend this property.

Family vacation 2022

Good experience overall. Jon was very nice. Everything we needed was available . Only downside was the steep hill to the beach which didn’t really show in the pictures. Made it very difficult for one of our grandchildren who uses a walker. Beautiful cabin!!

Loved the sauna

Great Lake House

We had a relaxing time here. The cabin had everything we needed and the waters of Deer Lake are really amazing. Everything went smoothly. High speed internet was fast and stable (250 Mb) for a cabin connection, which we used for several meetings without issue. Enjoyed the sauna! Would recommend.

Perfect spot for a time-out to rest and rejeuvinate!

Our stay was exactly what we needed to take a break from dealing with a loss of a parent, 6 kids, homeschool, a crazy job and a world that won’t stop spinning. This beautiful, secluded spot gave us just what we needed. Some of our favorite things included the amazing view with perfect Fall colors and serene, calm water; the cozy wood stove during cool days, relaxing deck furniture and a great selection of books to read. We enjoyed the comfortable bed and the kitchen had everything that I would have needed for our large family if we had everyone with us! The sauna was a nice treat in the evenings and our sore muscles enjoyed the massage chair. The owners were attentive and quick to respond to questions. We were so thankful for our time spent here and can’t wait to come back with our kids some time.

Absolutely Beautiful!

The Deer Lake Chalet is a beautiful, relaxing, peaceful place to stay. It was very clean and well furnished with high end quality amenities. I really enjoyed spending time on the deck. Admiring the view of the lake and beautiful sunrise, while sitting in the cushioned egg swing, with coffee. The master bedroom is in the loft, with a beautiful view and very comfortable bed. The owners are so kind and gracious, going above and beyond to accommodate. We hope to return sometime in the future.

Fabulous location for family vacation with amazing hosts!

There are so many great things to say about Deer Creek Chalet and Jon. We had such a great time! The home was so clean and well kept. Beautiful fresh flowers and snack basket to greet us upon arrival. Towels and sheets were highest quality and plenty for all. The deck was large enough that we could all gather comfortably and enjoy the gorgeous view of the lake. Jon was so attentive and available to all questions. He even dropped off new yard games for the kids! There was a wide variety of board games for rainy day fun. The Sauna was incredible and such an added bonus! Jon connected us with Rich, a local photographer who came to the house to take family photos - precious memories captured. Can't say enough great things about Deer Creek Chalet and Jon and Carolyn as hosts, except - "see you next year"!

Lovely home. Lovely lake

Deer Lake Chalet is a lovely comfortable lake home with a beautiful view of the very pristine blue blue lake. The cabin is totally comfortable and equipped with everything you can need. A quiet inlet with great swimming. A bit of a hill to go up and down but great exercise. A plus of a sauna and nice firepit. The owners were the kindest most attentive I have met in VRBO experiences. Highly recommend!
