We always have the best time here. The location is the absolutely best and the cabin is what you should expect for the very very reasonable price.
I have stayed here maybe 5-6 times now, with kids & with friend and it never disappoints.
We found this cabin after a last minute search for a rental after finding out a wedding we were attending was farther from home than we thought, and I am so glad that we found this cabin! It’s the perfect size for 2 people and a dog! The view of the river from the porch is absolutely stunning, especially during fall when all the leafs on the trees were turning beautiful shades of red, orange and yellow! The manager is great at communicating and was so accommodating when we needed a little bit of an early check in to make it to the wedding on time as well! 10/10 I’d definitely recommend this cute little cabin to anyone thinking of booking it!
It’s perfect for one or two ppl that are in the area for hiking or fishing and don’t want to camp. It has everything you need and is right on the river. Incredibly peaceful stay, 15 min from Viroqua or Kickapoo Valley Reserve. It’s a great location right outside of Viola.
Really a beautiful property. No hot water. Porta potty. But beautiful

Great location but not overly comfortable
This location was beautiful, the river was lovely to watch and the deck and picnic table were great.
However - porta potty was clearly not emptied regularly as it was VERY full and smelled awful. You could smell it over the bonfire smoke and in the cabin itself. Cabin wasn't very clean and sheets were rough and the bed was an older mattress on lift floor. The inclusion of a box fan was really helpful.
The property and the surroundings are excellent the actual cabin is terrible. The place smells of mildew, the stove didnt work, the refrigerator didn't work. I had to put any perishable stuff in the freezer and that took 12 hours approx to get cold. The bed was ok. The sink only had cold water. I expected the porta potty. I did enjoy the environment and the beautiful area i just think the vrbo advertising was very misleading. The wifi was ok. All the creature comforts that were expected didn't work. The cabin isnt even locked from the outside. This place was like squatting in a shack. I could have paid for a motel 6 and spent as much and been more comfortable but it was a little getaway for me to recharge so it turned out all right.

Mold was so bad could not sleep in the cabin, deck & picnic table covered with mold. No bathroom as stated, outhouse, kitchen was a garden house, no hot water. Disputed my bill
There was a mix up with the cabin I rented. There was another party at the same time which ended up being ok. I was able to check in earlier than I could. However, when I got into the cabin there was mouse droppings, and cobwebs. I had to clean even before I could get comfortable. I brought an air mattress to sleep on alot easier than having to go up a ladder. As soon as you step outside I smelt what I thought was just the water, I was wrong, it was the garbage dumpster not too far away. It was adequate for one night.

Weekend getaway with an extra guest!
When we entered the cabin we’re we overcome by a strong smell of urine. When we opened the sleeper sofa we discovered the source of the smell. A mouse had made its home in the sleeper sofa mattress and there was a football sized nest. The mattress was loaded with mouse droppings. After cleaning the sofa sleeper up ourselves, our little furry friend paid us a visit and scurried up and around the sofa before disappearing. I believe we should not have to pay any cleaning fees after doing the cleaning ourselves!

So if you are boujee, this is not for you. Upon entering the light switches do not work. The lamp in the corner does. Very rustic. I like to camp so....no faucet on sink. No hot water. Had to boil water to clean up. Too trashed to figure out ladder. Slept on couch. Love the sounds of the river flowing by. Like i said, if you are boujee, not for you. Ill be back.

Would stay again but come better prepared.
Him - Below is a review written by my girlfriend. I brought her here for a surprise weekend getaway. Her review is quite thorough so I will only add a few of my own thoughts.
While the amenities or lack thereof are stated in the listing, they are not entirely accurate. For some reason, the cabins seem to be an afterthought. The potential for this little cabin is enormous! Sadly, it is seriously neglected. This is odd considering the associated campground is absolutely gorgeous and well maintained! There obviously has been no maintenance of any kind for some time. With just a little maintenance and attention, this would have gone from barely a 3 star to a 4+ star stay easily. The site is great, the view over the water is beautiful and as I mentioned in my header, we would be willing to stay again but will make sure to come prepared.
I wanted to make my gf a nice dinner a couple of nights so I contacted the host and specifically asked if there was pots and pans and such and was told yes. What we found was was one small pot, no pans, an electric frying pan without a cord and most utensils are even less than thrift store quality. I have no problem with mix and match utensils and thrift store kitchenware! But there was not even a decent selection of basics.
We knew there was no hot water, but there wasn't even a big pot to heat water up in! The listing says there is a grill....yup. one with the legs broken off and tossed into the weeds so it sits on the ground. Really?? You
Contact was very helpful and responsive! Beautiful area right by the river. Very relaxing stay. Cabin is nice to get out of the elements and sleep for the night. Had a wonderful stay!
This property is absolutely wonderful - it actually looks like a place hobbits would live. It's right next to a beautiful creek and has lots of open space with a fire pit. The house is definitely rustic - no frills but clean and very neat. LOVE this place!
The property is small, aging and rustic. This is a perfect place for a small group (2-3) looking for a DIY camping/fishing trip. Bring a padlock if you want to lock the cabin up. We also brought our own plates/utensils, portable toilet and bag camp shower (and tarp to hang up for privacy). If you are not into roughing it take a pass but if you need a old fashioned backwoods get away this is your spot!

The property is fine for what it is, but we felt misled by the listing. We were expecting temperature control and a bathroom. We arrived at night and only saw one bed (ad said it sleeps 1-5). There is a porta potty, and no bathing facility. You can bolt the cabin door while you are inside, but can't lock the door with belongings inside if you leave (which we didn't learn until after paying). Some of the boards on the deck were a little loose. Don't expect a reasonably comfortable stay - definitely rustic. Signage was poor as well. Showing up past dark, it was hard to figure which cabin was ours.
