Quiet and comfortable
We had everything we needed. Ideal for 2 people, and the courtyard was a nice extra. Our only challenge was handling the ferry schedules, but we managed to visit Olympic, North Cascades, and Mount Rainier National Parks in a week. Whew!

Perfect Little Hansville Getaway
We loved our stay at Scott’s beautiful space! It’s small, but so well laid out and also has additional private outdoor spaces, so it seems much larger. His design aesthetic is lovely and thoughtful, and his artwork that adorns the walls is really beautiful. We enjoyed how close it was to hiking trails and just a quick drive from the beach. We’ll definitely be back!

The property was wonderful, pleasant and refreshing. I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Had the weather cooperated we would have taken advantage of the outdoor seating.

A Great Place
This studio is wonderful! everything you need to be comfortable. A very functional kitchen, full size refrigerator, and a nice eating bar. The living/sleeping area is very accommodating and the wardrobe closet/cabinet has plenty of room. Another great feature is the private "zen" deck off the living area, private, quiet and interesting. I was visited by a hummingbird while sitting there one morning. Point No Point beach is about 5 minutes away by car. I went there almost every day, the beach is different each day and always has some wildlife to watch, seals, otters, eagles, and a bird/wetland area with trails. A very relaxing escape for me. I was also working remotely each day and always had a fast internet connection - no issues.

The Perfect Studio
This is a wonderful place to stay in a gorgeous area. The studio itself is very clean, comfortable and private. The owner has put a great deal of thought and care into the design and function of the space. It has everything you need while you explore the beautiful surroundings close by. I would highly recommend this little studio for anyone looking for a nice relaxing getaway.

About the host

Hosted by Scott Kuykendall

Host profile image
I moved to Washington State from a Connecticut suburb of New York City after living and working on the I-95 corridor for 25 years. By trade, I'm a graphic and web designer still working for my clients on the East Coast, but also moved here to establish a career as a fine artist and to be able to enjoy the phenomenal beauty of western Washington while being close enough to Seattle to easily take advantage of all that city has to offer.

Why they chose this property

I wanted to be able to offer a space here for guests to find out for themselves just how special this area is. I grew up in the West Texas desert and have always wanted to live in a place with a spectacular view with miles and miles of scenery, mountain views, and best of all, close to the ocean, since I lived on Long Island Sound in my previous life. I found it here... a friend asked me what I liked so much about this area. I said, "This place makes me feel more alive!"

What makes this property unique

Spectacular views of the Olympic Mountain Range and Puget Sound. Temperate climate - Hansville is located within the "Rain Shadow," a microclimate that gets more sun and less precipitation than Seattle, despite being only 20 miles away. A fantastic beach at Point No Point is only minutes away. Wildlife is abundant and it's common to see Bald Eagles, otters, seals, the occasional Orca. The beach nearby is known for migratory bird life, as well as whale watching. Fishing is plentiful, the Olympic Peninsula is easily accessed with all it has to offer. Seattle is an easy trip on the ferry from nearby Kingston or Bainbridge Island. Above all, it's peaceful and serene. The nearby communities of Poulsbo and Winslow on Bainbridge Island offer upscale dining and cultural activities.
