About this property

English Mtn Retreat Close To The Smoky Mountains!

Come enjoy our English Mountain Retreat, close to the Great Smoky Mountains. This 1 bed / 1 bath condo is newly remodeled and updated with a brand new fully equipped kitchen. The bedroom hosts a soft and comfortable king size bed and tv with a roku. The bathroom has a separate vanity area from the toilet and bathtub. The living room has a beautiful stone wood burning fireplace with brand new queen pull out sofa and recliner. New smart TV mounted on the fireplace, and wifi available with high speed internet to connect all your devices. There is also a desk area in case you need to work while away from home. A washer and dryer is available in the unit, which is very convenient. There is a nice spacious wrap around deck to enjoy the views of the Smoky Mountains.

Our unit is on the lower level of the building. The lower level is accessed from a staircase on either side of the building. Unfortunately there is no elevator available so our unit is not handicap accessible.

The English Mountain Condo Resort is quiet and away from all busyness, but a short drive to many of the attractions that make this area great. Approximately a 30 minute drive to Pigeon Forge, 40 minute drive to Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountain National Park. Very close to the Forbidden Caverns, easy access to Dollywood, and many other area attractions.

Very nice get away!

The view was beautiful! Budget friendly! A little bit a drive into town which we knew that when we booked it. We were sent 2 different direction options from the owner which really helped! We would definitely stay here again! Very thankful there was a fireplace in the cold nights! Got down in the 20s! Our daughter got to play in the snow and she had a blast!

Beautiful Scenery

Overall, a great location to stay is you wanna be away from civilization... property was great... Property Owner not so much, left several messages through text/e-mail/ and phone calls with no response for over 24 hours... Had to get ahold of Verbo for them to get ahold of the property manager to get ahold of us for the codes. He did apologize, but being over 8 hours from home or was a huge inconvenience.

mountain getaway.

This cozy little condo was perfect for our little getaway! my kids camped out in little tents in the living room and we enjoyed a nice king sized bed. Bill was always quick to respond to messages along with being very informative about the property. We are already looking for an excuse to go back.

Nice and Functional

The apartment was reasonably priced. It is a quiet little place with some quirks worth mentioning. The Wifi is not working! This would have been a show stopper if the listing had been properly noted. Cell coverage here is very poor. The drive up to the condo is pretty hectic and traffic makes the travel quite dangerous at night. The tub is very dangerous and slippery. It nearly caused a serious accident due to a fall. Condo was dirty upon arrival. Cleaners were smoking at entry and it was very unpleasant to smell cigarette smoke on and in the condo from smokers. Dishwasher door does not open, garbage disposal in sink does not work and tub faucet badly leaks when in use. Black mold in bathroom. Owner was good to issue a partial credit but needs to update listing from multiple reviews. All in all, buyer beware of these additinal items.

First ever vacation

First time I left Florida ever- and trust me if you want that “mountain” experience this is it lol 😂 many ways up and down the mountain to this condo some scary as ever some are quaint with beautiful views the whole way down! Pigeon forge was a blast for us and the kids, I loved going hiking and seeing waterfalls, and experience so many new things! This was rite by the town you want to be by! The only commute was actually up and down the mountain then bam your in town- perfect!

The condo itself is very nice. I believe that recent updates have been done. For just the wife and me it was pretty ideal. Getting there is an adventure if you come in from the west. Very steep and curvy. The road from the east is much less if a challenge.,

This property was on the bottom of the list for places we have stayed. The dishwasher, garbage disposal and internet/TV did not work. The bedroom was dirty there was garbage and left behind socks and stuff behind the dresser under the bed was filthy. Thank fully the condo or somewhere near there had an open wifi you were able to at least connect to so you were able to watch TV in the bedroom as for the living room thank goodness my son brought his PS5 otherwise the TV in the living room would have been a waste because there was no internet. No mop to be able to clean properly. Just a couple of hangers I purchased a bundle and left there for future renters. The fireplace was lovely with the colder weather overall it was still a relaxing place to stay. I would say they make enough on there rentals to be able to fix the things wrong and hire a real cleaning person who will do the job right. The mountain coming up to the condo had some pretty sharp turn winter could be tricky if you don't have a truck or SUV. Otherwise the bed was comfy although pretty dirty when we took sheets off at the end of our stay. Overall not a bad place for the price I guess.

Weekend Stay

The bed linens and towels could have been newer and cleaner.....they were stained. The towels were very worn out. The pillows were also very worn out and very flat. I would suggest purchasing new towels and washcloths, pillows and bed linens for a more comfortable stay for the future. The dryer also did not work so we had to lay our wet clothes outside on the deck to dry.

Basic Condo On the Mountain Top

The truck up to the condo was a bit dangerous. Many hairpin turns and this should definitely be listed in the description for those who have never stayed in the area or mountains to give them a fair warning. The steep hills are not an issue. I had to call the property manager at 2p after several attempts to message her, because we still had not received our access codes to the gate or the lock box and were set to arrive by 4; they were suppose to be sent to me that morning. When we arrived the condo was still dirty from the prior guest, all the linens were in the tub. I had to contact the property manager again. They had someone come clean it. But it was a big hassle; they did refund us our cleaning fee. We ended up just staying the first of 3 nights because it was honestly too dangerous and stressful to drive the mountain at night coming back. Given all the issues we felt best to just find a hotel in town.

Nice place and very quiet and remote.

The drive into the property is challenging. The bed was bad for two reasons. First the sheets were coming off during sleep about 3 times a night because they were cheap and second the bed was worn out and canoe like as we rolled to the middle all night long which helped with the sheet issue. The dishwasher was broken and they required all dishes to be cleaned so hand washing was needed, and the microwave was a dial knob setup which helped me burn my popcorn. Other than that it was good.

Horrible drive up the mountain

The co do was decorated nice. The drive up the scary mountain was horrible. The car behind us burnt his clutch, and we almost slid off the mountain. There is No cell service, would have been nice to know before hand. We wouldn't have booked here. We have a disabled child and need to be able to call for medical help if needed. The couch , one cannot sleep on the pull out. The springs, omg .. We only stayed the one night due to all this. And had to get a hotel in town and pay double. Great place if you want to be succeeded and unreachable to the world. It was beautiful up there.

A place to lay your head far away from town

13 miles from town is a 40 minute drive. Don’t stay in winter without a 4 wheel drive. Very few people around complex. Sits next to a recovery center that we had no problem with. No sheets for pull out or hand soap. One trash bag. 1/2 roll toilet paper. Housekeeper gone on vacation and owner in Michigan. She was helpful by offering another unit. We had already unpacked. Did not feel safe to go to other unit at night to get what we needed. Pool was dirty in the two days we planned to spend swimming. As leaving met the property manager. He said he cleaned the pool but didn’t know how to use the vacuum. The fill in maintenance lady had to. He would ask her if she was willing. Bathroom floor was filthy wiping up black from corners before my grandson could get out of shower. Crumbs and food under pull out and recliner. The owner agreed to one night refund. But didn’t send a full night much less prorating tax and cleaning fees. Would not stay there again.

Quiet, secluded and cozy

Booking this place I was a little skeptical only because of the price but truth be told it’s a very nice place for a very fair price. If you want to get a true mountain experience without being in the hustle and bustle of pigeon forge this is the place for you. For us it took 30-35 min to get into town. Be warned, once you get up the mountain there is no service, although the Wi-Fi works great once you get in the apartment, so make sure you have your gate code and lock box code saved before getting there (ask me how I know lol). For people who aren’t confident drivers you may prefer something closer to town as the drive up the mountain is very steep and narrow. Personally I had a blast driving it. The views are amazing to say the least. The apartment was very clean, the bed was very comfortable which is something we always have issues with. This trip we slept amazing. Bill the landlord communicated with me very well with some minor things I had questions about. I hope they plan on keeping this place awhile because next year we want to book again just to do Dollywood. If you need an answer wether to book or not this is your sign to do it. Book it you won’t regret it!

Great views but terrible drive up very steep climbs.

I enjoyed everything about the property except there was inadequate blankets and pillows for the sofa sleeper. 1 towel but no bath mat, no complementary shampoo, body wash, or hand soap. Only had dish soap. We were only there for a weekend, and normally when we rent there are complementary items, however i know everyone is different and offer different accommodations, it would be a nice addition to have those available. Especially extra pillows and comforter for the pull out sofa. The trek up the mountain was so much worse then expected. I drive an SUV and it had rained that day. At some points my tires were just spinning during one of the 2/3 steep climb parts. If you love being in the mountains regardless of the drive up then you should have 0 issues. If you get motion sick (like me) don’t like heights, or fear of driving on thinner roads i would Recommend staying somewhere else. Or being sure to map out “scenic route” before traveling as GPS doesnt take you that way what so ever, and you have 0 cell service up there. Its easy to get lost on the roads because of this. On our way out we got lost, which worked in our favor as we came out in Gatlinburg where we were wanting to go anyways. But just be careful and print out directions before leaving to go. The stairs are kind of noisy and people walking on the side walk are right outside the bedroom “wall” which is al windows floor to ceiling. Thankfully noise wasnt too bad. Other then these few things, it was enjoyable.

Very well-themed, kept well, good view! The washer and dryer unit was very nice, and so was the balcony! The only issue is it’s a little ways from the national park on some twisty roads without service. Would stay again!

We have spent most of our lives in the great state of Michigan, and all the beauty that it has to offer. We fell in love with East Tennessee the first time we visited several years ago. The area fits into who we are, we love to be outdoors, to go on adventures, to explore, and to experience new things. We love to travel, go hiking, tubing, kayaking, and also have fun by trying new experiences, and listening to live music of all different genres. This is a new adventure for us by purchasing a 2nd home and offering it up as a vacation rental for others to enjoy our happy place.

Why they chose this property

Since the first time we visited East Tennessee several years ago it had always been our dream to own our own place there. We looked at many different properties during out search, but when we found the English Mountain Resort we knew that was the place we wanted to be, and when we looked at this unit we knew that was the one for us.

What makes this property unique

We have transformed our condo into our own. We love the cabin feel that we gave it, the fireplace, the comfort it has, and the views of the mountains. All the pictures on the walls were taken by us on our different hikes in the area. It's not a very big place, but it's ours, and we love it.
