Just right
Although the rental was more than we usually pay it was in line with rentals in the resort town of Bend. Having a private cozy cottage on the river with a full kitchen, clean bathroom and comfortable bed beats staying in a generic condo. Location was terrific and John responded to my questions even though he was out of the country. Thank you John!

Charming little river cottage
Clean, well-equipped and very comfortable. We brought our dog and the location is perfect for a dog -- there is a river trail and a huge river park just next door.

Perfect Retreat to the Mountains - especially for walkers
We loved the time that we spent at the cabin -- perfect in every way, in spite of the intermittent smoke from a nearby forest fire. Places like this are a city and state treasure.

Perfect location
This is a cute rustic home right on the Deschutes River. It was walking distance to everywhere. The kitchen as well equipped. The deck sitting river side was a perfect place to relax after a day of hiking. We would definitely consider staying here again!

What a perfect location to stay! Both on the beautiful river, and walking distance to the Amphitheater. The owner lives next door and was super nice. My only complaint is with VRBO screwing up my reservation.

River House
This little house is perfectly located on the river! Mirror Pond, Drake Park, Downtown Bend and Old Mill are all within easy walking distance. Not to mention restaurants, food trucks and breweries. Our 9 year old Golden Retriever was able to easily enter and exit the river. Although the deck could use some new paint, it had plenty of seating, a big table and umbrellas. Watching the tubers float by is an enjoyable activity and Bendites are a friendly bunch who will chat as they float by. There are two kayaks that are easy to get in and out of the river, as well. Our granddaughters enjoyed just jumping off the deck and swimming. There is a really nice barbecue on the back porch, as well. The inside of the house is immaculate. The carpeting is very new, furniture is comfy, and the bed is extremely comfortable, as well. The kitchen is very well stocked. It has everything you could possibly need no matter what you were cooking. The pots/pans are quality and the stove is gas! There is a microwave and dishwasher, as well. We were there a week and enjoyed every second. John was out of town when we were there but quickly responded to our question about the TV and immediately sent someone over to help us! If you want to be on the river in Bend, this is the place!

Amazing Little River House
We stayed here for a week with our two dogs while I was working in Redmond. It was the perfect jumping-off spot to explore Bend and the surrounding area. A lot of things were an easy walk from the house or a very quick drive. Our dogs adored the yard, as did we, enjoying the river and the wildlife (human and otherwise) that floated by. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was a good size with great water pressure in the shower. There was a LOT of construction on the street, but having off-street parking meant it never bothered us. If you have never been to Oregon, know that they have a bottle and can deposit, so you'll want to hold onto those and return them at a BottleDrop location instead of tossing them into the recycle bin. A few heads up for other folks staying here: - The backyard is NOT securely fenced, so if you have a wanderer, you'll want to tether them. They can also crawl under the deck (even our 70 pound goobers). There is a small fence, but it is not secure - There is only a curtain for a bedroom "door", so if you are sound sensitive and have someone who will be staying up later, you'll want to wear earplugs - There are no laundry facilities in the house, but there is a great laundromat about a 1/2 mile away where you can do your laundry and walk across the street to Sunriver Brewing or Boss Rambler for coffee/beer/food My partner and I kept saying how we would gladly live there full time if (A) we had the money and (B) had 99% less stuff. It's so special.

Cozy Cottage
We had a wonderful stay at this super cute and comfortable cottage right on the river in Bend. The small, cozy cottage had a super comfortable bed, and gas fireplace. Kitchen was well equipped. The backyard right on the river was fenced so our dog could come and go as he pleased and there was plenty of outdoor seating for coffee by the river in the morning. The location was great, very easy to get to anywhere in the city. We would definitely love to stay here again.

Great Setting and Location
We were extremely satisfied and impressed with our stay at this riverfront cottage. The location was perfect for our purposes and provided a great base for walking on the river trail, into town, etc. We ventured out for multiple activities in the surrounding area and also enjoyed many hours just sitting on the dock by the river in a very relaxing setting. The house was well stocked with supplies and equipment, which made it easy to fix meals at the house. We look forward to a return visit.

I am a semi-retired real estate investor who fell in love with Bend and can't find any place I would rather live. There is so much to do here if you like the outdoors, but the community feel is what really makes it special.

Why they chose this property

This was my vacation home in Bend before I decided I had to live here permanently. There are not many homes on the river in Bend, which makes it quite special. You can walk through Drake Park along Mirror Pond to downtown Bend in about ten minutes, and the other direction is the Old Mill District. I love this location and neighborhood so much that when I wanted a bigger home, I moved next door. It is rare to find a place that is so close to everything and because of the river still seems a bit wild.

What makes this property unique

It's really all about the river and the central location.
