UPDATED: Fall 2021 we added central heat/air-conditioning with a split unit, new washer/dryer combo, new dishwasher, dining chairs, new carpet in bedrooms.

Welcome to the "Z" Resort on Whidbey Island! Come experience Island living and recreation just an hour and a half north of Seattle. Whidbey Island is the gateway to the San Juan Islands where you will experience some of the best boating in the world. You may access the north end of the Island by car across Deception Pass Bridge or travel via ferry from Mukilteo to Clinton on the South end of the Island.

The "Z" Resort will accommodate a quiet getaway or a family friendly experience. The great room design has generous living and dining space, expansive chef's kitchen with gas range/oven, dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator. There are 2 private bedrooms: One King size bedroom with private bath & shower and another Guest Bedroom with queen size bed and adjacent full bath with tub. The family room with water views and a vintage pinball machine has another queen size bed. There is a wood stove in the living room for those cool winter nights, but also has central heating with a split heat/air-condition unit in the main room to cool things off in the summer. The home is equipped with a big screen smart TV complete with all your favorite apps, DVD player and stereo system.

The home is sited on a canal lot with a private dock for moorage up to a 55 feet power or sailboat. Shallow draft is required at low tide. There is an expansive wood deck with outdoor patio furniture and seating for a large group. Depending the season, you will enjoy great crabbing and clamming on the beach, fishing in the Puget Sound, wonderful walks on the Beach or just relaxing with family and friends!

The home was updated with a new washer/dryer, dishwasher and carpet in bedrooms in Nov 2021.

Dogs allowed, up to 2 with 75# weight limit. Fee of $100 per stay. Please bring blankets and towels for them and do not allow on furniture without a blanket.

Please note, we do have 3 security cameras on the outside of the house that are disarmed during guest stays: One is above the garage door, one at the front door, and one at the back deck.

great location, neglected house

We enjoyed our stay in this terrific, quiet, beautiful neighborhood. However the house, which could be terrific, is sadly neglected and in disrepair. The yard is a mess with three-foot weeds everywhere, including growing from a crack in the driveway in front of the garage and in the flower pots. The large gas grill has rusted out so badly the bottom has fallen out and lays on the deck. Blinds are broken in view windows. Springs on the cool looking low-back sofas are broken and you sink almost to the ground. The towel rack in master bedroom apparently fell off the wall and has not been replaced. The towels should all be cut up to use as rags and replaced. On a positive note, the house was pretty clean, the location is great and the host is very communicative. With some repairs and attention this could be a wonderful place.

the minute i walked into this property i didn't want to leave. although this was larger then i needed it was very well stocked with amenities and very clean. this was my third rental over the years and was an extremely good experience. when i needed to extend my stay they were very accomodating and pleasant to deal with and quick response. the views are amazing!!! if you gonna stay on oak harbor make this your first choice

Special small family gathering

We loved staying at this sweet, comfortable home. The big kitchen with lots of cooking equipment was great for making big meals, and it was so nice to have a big table to gather around! The view, skylight and open floor plan are inviting, the neighborhood so quiet, accessibility to the cobblestone beach is wonderful, and we just settled right in. Everyone slept well on the beds - so nice to have 3 rooms to spread out in. There were extra blankets and pillows, plenty of towels, great water pressure for shower and a nice bath. We didn't use some of the goodies like the wood stove, cool pinball machine, or old school video setup, but enjoyed their presence. Our hostess was wonderful, touching base, thoughtful and helpful about details, and she really cared that we should have a good visit. We really appreciate this home and will be back! It was especially peaceful for us, as we had some family members in their 80s.

Good location.

If your looking for a place with a dock for your boat this place is hard to beat. Everything functioned fine except for some pocket doors. Windows needed some cleaning to enhance the views. All in all a great place and we will be back.

This home on Whidbey Island was well equip with kitchen items, electronics, linens, & bedding. It was roomy for a number of people. The kitchen worked great for a number of "cooks". Whidbey Island has a number of Washington State Parks to explore - historical sites. The draw back of the home is that the bathrooms not easily accessible for older or less mobile visitors. We had a good vacation in the large main rooms and kitchen.

Beautiful part of Whidbey!

This house was open and full of light. My family and I enjoyed our stay despite a few quirks. If you’re looking for privacy-this isn’t the house for you. Many of the pocket doors are broken and doorways are covered by curtains. It wasn’t too big of a deal for us. The house was a blast from the past-think 90s. It wasn’t the cleanest upon arrival, but the owners refunded our cleaning fee and offered to send the cleaning crew out again. We spent lots of time on the deck enjoying the views of the canal. It was fun seeing all of the boats go by. All in all we had a relaxing vacation and now we want to live in Mariners Cove too!

4th of July Gathering

Great stay at the Z Resort! Beautiful fully equiped home - a few little quirks, but felt instantly relaxed and at home. Very relaxing place to visit. Really nice neighbor who checked on a few things for us. Wonderful spot to visit and we could bring our dog, which was wonderful. I loved the options on the coffee makers! A note about the 4th - there were fireworks along the beach very close to the house - it was loud (our dog was fine, but it might be too much for a scared dog or young kids). The house has a very open floor plan with lots of windows and light - great for us and our family, but just something to note! Thank you for opening up your home - we had a really nice stay and it's such a beautiful community!

Great family home with private boat dock and sound access

We enjoyed our recent stay. We were able to have our boat safe and nearby without having to launch each day. Dam into the private dock is not always passable due to tide level, so a little homework was necessary but not a big deal at all. This obstacle was worth dealing with to have the boat there. House was clean and well stocked. We plan to return. Thank you!

A nice, relaxing getaway

We loved our stay at this property. We choose rental homes over resorts/hotels because they have personality. You could tell from the friendly, responsive hosts and the details around the house that this property is a part of a family. We enjoyed peaceful walks around the neighborhood, playing the retro board games and pinball machine, and simply just hanging out as a family. The town of Oak Harbor is a short drive and has all the stores you could need. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well stocked, and the appliances worked great. Our favorite was the super quiet washer/dryer. :) Some tips for staying here: * If you are used to blackout shades in your own home, you may want to bring a sleep mask. We live in the PacNW, so I am certainly not complaining about sunshine...but the sun does brighten up the house a little early. The small bedroom was the only one that stayed dark, much to the delight of my teenager. * To close and lock the wood door, lift up and push in from the outside (this was a very convenient feature for getting wood into the house for the fireplace. Much appreciated)

Needs renovation and through cleaning

Every carpet was stained. Both showers appear to have black mold in the grout. Human hair on surface of one shower drain. Both beds had human hair on the sheets. One even had stains and skid marks. The bedding pillows and pillow cases were extremely stained. We had to replace everything at our own expense. Under the guest bathroom sink was a box of syringe needles, syringes, and both marked and unmarked vials of liquid. The kitchen floor was sticky so we cleaned that too. The BBQ was dirty and crusted making it unusable. This is by far the worst house we have ever rented through VRBO. On the positive side the beds were very comfortable. The view of the area was beautiful and it was a friendly and quiet neighborhood.

Perfect home base for a week of job/house hunting.

Comfortably and homey. Beautiful views, enjoyed walking the beach a few times. The beds are comfortable, the neighborhood was quiet, even with construction on the house next door. Fully equipped kitchen made cooking easy. We didn't use the televisions, wood burning stove or music system. We did play a few games of pinball. As mentioned this was used as a home base for a job and housing hunt, so we were really only at the property at night. We would stay again.

Great family getaway!

Great location with beach just across the street a we loved the house deck with dock attached! The house was just perfect for our group of 7. It was well stocked for those who love to cook! Definitely could use a little update on decor and maintenance on a few areas. Broken drawer and shelf in the kitchen and light switches were a struggle to figure out.

Exactly what we were looking for.

So many good things to say of this property including its amenities, location, and the property management. It decided to be kind of stormy while we were renting, so we fully appreciated all the indoor rainy day activities. We played with the pinball machine, played pool, but discovered that we really love ping pong 😀 . Also played some old (retro) board games. The small back yard was perfect for our dog. We brought our portable dog corral and our gas firepit so any time it was not raining we ran outside to play with her and sat by our fire. We didn’t use the deck as when we arrived we found that the umbrella on the deck was left open and during a wind storm it shattered the glass table. I contacted rental management and they immediately jumped into action and within 20 minutes they had a cleaning crew come and clean it up ! I was very impressed by the immediate response and resolution they provided. The neighbors were soooooo friendly and welcoming, anytime we were out in the neighborhood there were waves and smiles and a few introductions. Lots of things to do on Whidbey island so many beaches, hikes and forts to explore. The house itself has an awesome atrium which provides a lot of natural light. If I had suggestions for the owner/ management it would be to update the couch, as it definitely has seen better days. We didn’t mind, but some might. The other thing would be to get the pocket doors fixed so the rooms can be separated. Again it was just my husband and I so it didn’t matter to us, but if there were 2 couples it would be better if there was a way to shut the doors to the 2nd bed room and the master bath. That said, we really enjoyed our trip to this property, and turns out , it was one of our favorites! We would definitely rent again. Thanks again for sharing this wonderful place with us!

Great vacation rental!

Location was perfect for our family fishing trip! The property manager was very quick to respond and bent over backwards to make sure we had a pleasant stay and a great time! Would definitely book again!
