Drive past beautiful rolling hills and apple orchards to find out vintage cottage nestled in the woods. The Cottage on Sawmill Lane is the perfect location for a relaxing getaway. It features spacious common areas creatively built around the central core of a vintage single wide mobile home. A very relaxing, all season sunroom welcomes you to the Cottage. From there you’ll enter the kitchen, with a cozy nook for reading or playing with toys while Mom and Dad cook. To the left of the kitchen are two sleeping areas with the bathroom sandwiched between. The addition on the back of the Cottage is a large living room with vaulted ceiling, two sleeper sofas, a sliding door leading to the back deck, and a spiral staircase leading to a sleeping loft. The Cottage is located on Sawmill Lane, just off Heister Valley Rd, along Shade Mountain. It is a ten minute drive to Susquehanna University, 40 minutes to Bucknell University, 10 minutes to Shade Mountain Golf Course, 78 minutes to Penn State University, and just 5 minutes from thousands of acres of state forest land. The Cottage is situated on 150 acres of woodland, ideal for hiking, exploring and cross-country skiing. You’ll find a stream for wading, a firepit with firewood provided, a gas grill and abundant wildlife. The Cottage sleeps 6 comfortably. You’ll be pleased to discover this vacation spot that is rustic enough to be comfortable for families with kids and pets, but also cozy enough for a romantic getaway.

Do not recommend with lung problems.

We loved the property and the setting. However, the cabin smelled musty and moldy. An animal chewed on something(wood?) in the cabin all night. We left the next day and did not return.

So comfortable and cozy

This place was just comfortable from the beginning. We had to contact the owners once and they responded within minutes. They were great. We had an amazing time hanging out by the fire pit, walking the trails and just reading by the water. Had everything you needed just bring clothes and food. We will hopefully be able to make it back some day.

We had a very nice time, it was peaceful and relaxing. The place was spacious and had a cute little creek out back. There was a grill out back but unfortunately it didn’t work. We would definitely come back!

Enjoyed our stay at Sawmill Lane. All was as advertised. Peaceful and quiet. Love the stream in the back yard. It was relaxing to sit on the swing and listen to the water and birds. The trails thru the woods were fun to walk.

Great Location, cleanliness/price questionable.

The overall location and outdoor experience was very positive. Our dogs were able to roam the property and we didn't have to worry about them bothering neighbors because there weren't any close. The property was vast with hiking abound. The owner was pleasant and communication was good. The cleanliness of the cottage was questionable and our biggest complaint. There were fresh linens but there were dirty dishes in sink upon arrival, the "clean" silverware in the drawer was a mess and needed washed as many were crusted with food. There was a bag of Brussel's sprouts that had been left in the microwave that stunk up the microwave. The cottage also had a musty smell. The cabin policy is clean up after yourself because there is no maid service which is fine but apparently no one checked to make sure previous guests actually cleaned up. My family did have fun as we spent most of our time outside due to the nice weather.

New Years Trip

Spent a long weekend with 6 adults at the cottage and had a great time! The sun room and living room are ideal hang out spots and we did some hiking on the trails around the property as well. There’s a small creek running through the back and a fireplace which was all very cozy. If you have a full house, the bathroom is a bit inconvenient as it’s located between 2 bedrooms and you cannot access it without walking through one of the bedrooms. We did have some trouble with the heat, but Neil was very responsive and offered several solutions while waiting for a fix. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely recommend!

cottage tucked up in the woods

Description of the home was accurate. Our group of friends enjoyed dining in the all season sunroom. Some of the space is tight and close. Loft is nice but spiral stairway could be a challenge for some. There was ample. comfortable seating.. Lovely wooded area for a pleasant get-away.

Great place for a camplike experience

Property was exactly as described. Cabin in a wooded area. Quick drive to Selinsgrove. Really enjoyed the firepit. We got in around 2 am Friday Evening/Saturday morning and left around 6:30 am on Sunday morning so we didn't get to stay long enough to really enjoy the place so what we paid seemed like a lot but everything else around was sold out. I would really love to come back and stay again. No phone, no internet, no tv. I loved it. Found a book on the history of their church and the steeple. Very weird. Exactly like my old church back home in Missouri right down to the pipe organ. Then i read it was converted to United Church of Christ. Same as my church growing up. I read member names and it had several in common with my great grandmothers name that is not a common name at all. I'm probably related distantly to people in the area. I never felt more at home although i had never been there and don't know of any relations anywhere in the region. It brought back a lot of childhood memories. Even the Holstein cows on a picture on the wall are like the ones back home growing up in Holstein, Missouri. I'm gonna make it back someday. I have to. Overall place was filthy and hadn't been used in awhile. Had a musty old smell about it. I grabbed a broom and opened some windows. Not a deal breaker although the giant spider by the door with web wasn't really big on my welcome list. There was plenty of hot water and awesome water pressure. The sheets were clean. Lots of firewood. Easy to find at night. The creek outside is beautiful. Had a nice walk in the woods. I loved everything about it except the spiders.

I liked the property wish they had more lighting around the house , and wish they had at least wi-Fi

It was great experience but wish they had more lighting and wifi service tv really didn’t matter the internet and wifi is the most important thing to make people feel better at night and that’s it it was good tho very good experience and it was very well held together this is my personal opinion

Quaint and quiet property

My family and I stayed at this property to attend a graduation at Susquehanna University. It was a fairly quick drive to Selinsgrove even though the property felt like its off the beaten path. We loved the wooded setting and enjoyed an evening campfire. The house itself was clean and the décor was what you'd expect from a cabin in the woods. The layout of the home was interesting in that you had to pass through one of the bedrooms to get to the bathroom and second bedroom. In spite of that, we enjoyed our stay and would rent again.

Weekend stay

We had some problems with plumbing, but didn’t get the impression that this was typical. Issues were addressed immediately and the rest of our stay was nice. Neil was very responsive and accommodating.
