Wanted to take the family out of town for the holidays, and my way kids wanted to do a little skiing. It was a great place to stay and not a bad drive to the slopes.
Would stay there again in a minute
The house exceeded our expectations in every way. It was perfect for our brief visit. The hosts were very accommodating, the location was ideal and overall, it was a perfect place for us. We’d like to book again in the future.
Charming house within walking distance of downtown Harrisonburg
Myself and some coworkers rented this property for a work retreat. We stayed here because of its proximity to downtown (0.8 miles) so that we could walk to/from work.
The house was very nice and clean, and each person had a private bedroom.
Admittedly, we didn't spend all that much time at the property. We'd walk to work early in the morning and walk back later in the evening after dinner and activities. That said, the house was comfortable and we had no major issues.
Will stay again the next time I'm in Harrisonburg! Thanks!
this is our second stay in 2021 and it just got better. We love the closeness to campus, the detailed amenities, and this trip really enjoyed relaxing on the porch after the football game. Hosts are fabulous and pay attention to all the details needed for a great stay! We hope to be back again soon and love our Harrisonburg home away from home! Thank you wes and dionne!
My husband and I come to Harrisonburg frequently and have found this lovely home to stay at. Just a couple blocks / easy walk to a nice little coffee shop (Greenberry’s). Wesley the owner is fantastic and easy to contact. Check in and out couldn’t be easier! We’ve stayed a couple times and will be back!
This is our 5th stay here and it gets better every time. Came to visit our senior jmu daughter with friends and family to have a chill wkend before grad. Wes is a great host and really pays attn to the details. Each time we come he’s added something to make our stay even better. Walkable to so many things (highly recommend greenberry coffee) and such a cute house. It’s our jmu home away from home. You won’t be disappointed if you book here!!
My husband and I and our two dogs came to Harrisonburg to celebrate the birth of our new grandbaby. This lovely home was so cute and perfectly located. Just a few short blocks to Green Berrys Coffee Shop made our morning walk special. Downtown restaurants were less than a mile from the property. Check in was a breeze, and Wesley was a gracious owner having Kcups available, linens and some basics in case you forgot anything g (soap, antacids, headache medicine, etc)! Absolutely perfect!
Wesley is a great host and the house is very cute. It is an older house and the rooms are small but we knew that. Only drawback is small kitchen without a dishwasher. Just need to keep that in mind when planning meals.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Disliked: Location
Not quite what we were expecting
Pros - easy booking, no deposit, no extra checkout tasks like at other properties (dishes, laundry, trash etc), fast response from owner, updated kitchen.
Cons- rough neighborhood, no privacy in living room (which had the only tv in the house), no dishwasher or washing machine (my fault for assuming), old property with a haunted feel (chains on the outside of the bedroom doors gets your imagination going...)
Just not what we were looking for in a vacation getaway. But no fault of the owner.
Our daughter is a freshman at JMU and we were finally able to come for a weekend to visit. We wanted a place that was close to campus yet give us the room to cookout and chill and meet a few of her friends. This house was PERFECT for that. We loved everything about it. The details put into the house for guests is top notch. linens, towels, shampoos, conditioner in every room, a nice supply of TP, basket of items in case we may have forgotten them, coffee, snacks, trash bags, dish soap! We walked the dog around the neighborhood, played games in the backyard, brought our own portable grill and cooked out, sat on the swing, walked to coffee nearby....a truly wonderful weekend during an off year with COVID. Felt like we were finally able to get a feel of Harrisonburg and JMU. Wes was extremely helpful with any questions and super responsive. We have several years left making this trip and sure hope to make this our JMU home away from home. Thank you!!!!!
My son is a member of the JMU baseball team and we came to town to watch him play fall scrimmages. The house was perfect for my husband and me, our younger son, and my son’s girlfriend. We will definitely return.
Great experience all around! Clean and comfortable, this house is conveniently located 1 mile from JMU. We walked to the tailgate and football game. Lots of extra special touches that made our stay that much better. See you next year!
The house was perfect. Great location and size. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely book again. Check-in process was smooth and the parking situation was ideal. Walkable to campus.
Clean and comfortable and an easy walk to downtown. Front porch is nice for morning coffee and post ride beers. If you need a place in Harrisonburg would recommend this house.
Quick visit to Harrisonburg for a wedding and it was a pleasure to stay at this property. We enjoyed time on the porch and were able to walk to a nearby park and coffee shop.
Wonderful home for family to be together. Our daughter's little place across the street from campus wouldn't comfortably accommodate all of us ... but New York Place was perfect! Super clean, everything we needed: parking, flexible spaces for gathering, dining, resting, etc. Wes is a very responsive and personable host. Great location with easy access to everywhere we wanted to go. It's even better than the photos show it to be! We're looking forward to returning.
This is our third time staying here for a Harrisonburg/jmu visit. It NEVER disappoints. Wes is great and so accommodating. The home is thoughtfully decorated with such attention to detail—Soaps and shampoos, lotions, to the tray of items in case u forgot something ! This weekend a bowl of chocolates for Valentine’s Day was left for us! So nice !!!! We will be returning again and again. Thank you!!
Wonderful clean home. Easy on and off the highway. Definitely a really nice stay.
