Fantastic but…..,
The apartments location was fantastic, in the old part of Lyon. Cool restaurants, shops and bars surrounded it. The apartment was as per the pictures, the bedroom and bathroom were on a mezzanine level which was fine , except that being a very old building there were 18 inch x 18 inch beams in the ceiling holding up the rest of the building, this made some ceiling areas upstairs , particular the bathroom and particularly the toilet only about 5 ft high ( I am 6ft 2in so it was difficult but not a deal breaker). The outside terrace is unusable it is covered in pigeon feathers and dropping. The kitchen is very good and I enjoyed cooking in it . The orange refrigerator is very cool looking and works well but the freezer has not been defrosted in some time and is completely iced over and is unusable. A bonus for us having been travelling for a long time was the fact that it had a washing machine , we had purposely left some washing undone in the knowledge that we had a washing machine. It did not work. We had to stay in for an afternoon 4 days into our stay to allow a repair man to fix it however as the apartment has an I’ll laid floating floor he could not undertake the repairs without breaking the kitchen counter. Our DIFY contact said that we would be reimbursed for our laundry costs at the laundromat around the corner . I do not know at this point if that offer was honoured. The place is fantastic don’t get me wrong , but it shows the signs of a property which is neglected.
