Lakeside Cabin in Southern Illinois with Hot Tub!

Lakeside Cottage With 1 Bedroom And A Loft, Sleeps 4

Escape to our cozy lakeside cabin, perfect for families or romantic getaways. With 950 square feet of comfortable living space, our cabin comfortably accommodates up to 4 guests. The cabin's fully stocked kitchen and open dining and living areas are perfect for sharing meals together, and the fireplace creates a warm and inviting atmosphere during cool fall or winter nights. The main floor has one bedroom with a queen-size bed and full bath, while the upstairs loft is a special hideaway with two twin beds. Guests can also enjoy the screened back porch that overlooks the lake and has a private spa.

We offer a range of amenities to make your stay as comfortable as possible, including an outdoor spa, outdoor fire pit (wood not provided), gas grill, outdoor furnishings, dishwasher, washer and dryer, stove, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, central heat and air, kitchen utensils, cookware, dishes, towels, linens, hairdryer, iron, and complimentary coffee supplies.

Our cabin is situated on Hohman Lake and is near the Shawnee National Forest. It's the perfect location for guests looking to hike and explore nature or visit nearby wineries. Renters may also swim or fish from the docks and bring their own kayaks or canoes to use on the lake. Please note that motorized boats are not permitted on the lake.

Please note that our cabin is an unplugged getaway, and therefore there is no cable or satellite service, internet connection, or landline phone service at the cabin. However, cell phone service for texting is good, and voice service is fair. If you need to stay connected, both Metropolis and Paducah public libraries have computer rooms available for use. Guests are welcome to bring their favorite movies for the DVD player or watch DVD’s provided at the cabin.

Southern Illinois Visit

Check in process very easy and good instructions. Exit instructions were easy to follow. Very relaxing stay. My husband's and I when we retire want to buy a home on a lake. So it was a nice trial and the lake was so clean and inviting. Rachel and Jerome definitely have a gem. A must stay for anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle. Relaxing in the hot tub was a definite plus❤️

Amazing cabin

This is our second time going to this area but first time in this cabin and wont be our last! This cabin had EVERYTHINg you could want or need. We spent mornings kayaking the beautiful lake and fishing. We then spent our evening on the porch eating dinner! 10 out of 10 place for an unplugged relaxing weekend!

Fun on the Lake

The property & cabin was beautiful. My sister & I enjoyed the serene setting, the enclosed screened in back porch, there was a hot tub, everything you needed was there. All you had to bring was your food. Rooms were very nice, beds were comfortable & it was wonderful to get away & relax. We loved the lake. Many places to visit, too.

Peaceful relaxation

Location is away from the crowds. Screened porch was a great thing since it rained the whole time. Hot tub a bit difficult to understand how to use it. The ability to sit outside was nice the lake is amazing and very relaxing.

Beautiful home

My husband and I stayed here for our four year wedding anniversary. The house was super clean and provided anything you would need. The view was amazing and it was so relaxing. The neighbors are a little close with but it was mostly quiet.

Cozy Fall Getaway

This is a great lake rental. It is very clean and has all the essentials. We enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit and fishing from the dock. This was our fifth trip to this house and I hope to visit again.

So cute!

This little lake cottage was outstanding! Beautiful views. Very clean. Nice dock and multiple areas to sit and relax. Hot tub on screened in porch is perfect for 2 people. The road to the house is rough in spots so go slowly. There is no wi-fi or tv reception so plan for that but very cute house and close to Paducah. Would definitely rent again!

My husband and I took our kayaks with my husband fished the lake i got some reading time in he caught about 40 to 50 fish that he releases back for you. Morning coffee on the pier so quiet. We swam. Saw supermen in metropolis and a small drive to paducah. It was a great trip just what we needed

This place is beautifully decorated and on a nice quiet lake. We drank our coffee on the porch in the morning and had cocktails on the deck and patio in the evening. We fished everyday and caught a lot of fish and turtles. We through all of them back. We took in a couple of local flea markets and hit a couple of Amish stores on the way back. We had lunch at the Land Between the Lakes (nearby anyway) on our last day and ate at the Mexican restaurant in Paducah on Saturday night after flea market shopping.Other than that we cooked all our meals at the house as there were plenty of pots and pans there to use. I did buy a cutting board at the flea market and left it behind for future use. It was the only thing I could not find. The neighbor's dog Jackson was also a very nice addition as we were missing our fur babies. We will be back but probably in the fall when the leaves are changing and it is more comfortable sitting outside. We saw a copperhead in the water near the lilly pads so we did not swim as we intended to do. Luckily we didn't catch it. We still had a great, relaxing time though.

Exactly What We Needed: Peace and Quiet

The cabin had everything we needed and it was very comfortable. Central AC and hot tub made the stay perfect! The dishwasher and washer/dryer were a great bonus and it really felt like home for a few days. The bed was on the softer side, but we slept very well regardless. We could see the stars at night and had fun grilling up a meal. Felt safe enough as a LGBT+/ Interracial couple. The neighbor's dog, Jackson, is a big, VERY friendly, white dog who liked to check in on us when we were outside by the fire. He'll sit by you and watch over you, as if he wants to protect out-of-towners. Adorable and great company. Neighbors were also very kind. Paducah, Kentucky (~20 mins away) is a cute town to visit and the downtown square was safe enough to walk around in. Be sure to bring: food, firewood, and mosquito repellent. Cons: T-Mobile and Verizon had very little, if any service, at the cabin. You can get a bar or two outside by the water, but it was spotty and long calls would get cut off. Bring entertainment (also had DVD player w/ some movies). There are water snakes in the lake. They are relatively small and we had no issues, but don't be surprised if you see one! Please be cautious driving on the country roads; deer are very unpredictable, especially in the morning and evening hours. Overall: great stay and we finally got to escape the city for a few days. Weekend getaway

Sweet little lake house. Plenty of considerate extras with a variety of dvds, boardgames, cards, and books for an evening in! The kitchen has everything you may need. There is evidence of the hosts thoughtfulness throughout the home! The neighbors are close but that didn’t interfere with our trip at all! The hot tub was great. (we really appreciated that the host left the instructions for us-Super helpful!) The lake is as close as it appear in the images! The dock is right out the back door and down the stairs. Overall just a great little place to get away. We really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you

Cute cabin with a beautiful view

The cabin was was immaculate. The photos don’t do it justice. We enjoyed the views, swimming in the lake. The hot tub was a nice touch. We visited Paducah and Metropolis. Neighbors are friendly and their dogs visiting was a bonus. It was so peaceful. The only thing I would recommend is to have the spider webs cleaned off the dock and the patio furniture. There were a lot of spider webs. Apart from that it was perfect. The washer and dryer were a big plus.

Lovely Little Lake House

What a peaceful retreat! My husband and I loved staying here. They have fully stocked kitchen supplies--including coffee--but make sure you bring condiments, foil, and cooking oil. It was easy to find and the screened in porch with a view of the lake is just heaven.

The Lakeside Cabin provides an unforgettable getaway experience that our family has enjoyed for years. We fell in love with the peaceful atmosphere of Hohman Lake and the opportunity to unwind from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We especially love sitting on the dock and watching the beautiful sunsets (or sunrises for the early risers). We're thrilled to be able to offer this same experience to others. Plus, the cabin is conveniently located next to our other VRBO property, making it the perfect option for larger groups or families traveling together.

What makes this property unique

Our family's favorite aspect of the Lakeside Cabin was the lack of cable TV and internet. It allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the beauty of our surroundings and spend quality time reconnecting with each other. We understand that some may view this as an inconvenience, but for us, it was an opportunity to unplug and recharge. We want to provide that same opportunity to our guests who are looking for a place to disconnect from technology and focus on spending time with loved ones.
