The perfect family gathering
This was an amazing house for a family gathering. We loved our visit. The house is hidden away in the woods, giving it a very secluded and peaceful feel. My MIL was the first to arrive at the house, several hours before the rest of us. Since the house was so set apart and it was very dark at night, she became scared being alone. Plus, there was no cell service. Only wifi. However, the house manager checked on her every half hour until we arrived to help her feel at ease. He reassured her that she was safe and that he was watching over the house for her safety. There were 10 of us staying at the house. Everyone had their own room and bathroom. Space is not a concern here. There was also plenty to do. We loved using the indoor racket ball court! We played many games in there. And, we are a soccer family. So, the house manager gave us some tape to make soccer goals on the walls of the court. We had a mini family soccer tournament. My family also spent a lot of time playing air hockey, in the game room. The indoor pool and spa were amazing. We all spent much time playing in the pool, relaxing in the hot tub, or sitting poolside watching the fun. The huge round table was so fun to have the whole family gathered around for dinners. And the large family area was just perfect for playing family games. Hiking is very close. We enjoyed a couple of long hikes looking at the changing colors of the trees. Midway is very quaint town. We went Into town to walk around and eat at the restaurants. Everyone in town was very nice. We truly loved the house. And the house manager was the nicest, most helpful man. However, We do have some recommendations. The house would do well to have some lighting in the back yard at night. It is so black at night. Nothing can be seen. And there are no curtains or window coverings on any windows. It can be alarming for some to not see who or what is looking in. And no one felt comfortable outside at night. In addition, the bathrooms didn’t have window coverings. This was especially an issue in the master bath. There are two large windows in the master bath showing an open view to the toilet, shower, and tub. These windows are placed to view the front door entrance of the house and the entrance to the house manager’s apartment. I never felt comfortable in there knowing that at any moment people could see me. Also, We needed more towels than were provided. The house could also use extra blankets. It was chilly.

Perfect for family reunion
This was a gorgeous property up a private drive in a beautiful canyon. We enjoyed the fantastic mountain views. It was perfect for a large family gathering with a ton of space for both large and small groups to gather for a wide array of fun activities. The pictures don’t even do justice to how wonderful this place was. We stayed in early September when the temperatures were into the 100s in the valley. The house had no central air but even with the higher temperatures, it was manageable with cooling units in each bedroom and with open windows to allow the fresh cool mountain air to circulate through the house. The pool was very fun for all and was right off the main living area. The outdoor area was blissful. Loved the fireplace outside and all the seating. Lots of fun to be had inside with the pool, billiards table, racquetball court, and much more. Huge garage—we fit 8 cars and a motorcycle in it at one point! There was even more space for parking outside. The garage also had a dumbwaiter to get your groceries and such lifted up into the kitchen, this was a novelty for our family and was very convenient. Overall the house was perfect for our family reunion, we all wish we could have stayed longer. We would book it again in a heartbeat.

Family Reunion at Stone Hill Lodge
We had a family reunion with all of our children and grandchildren at Stone Hill Lodge from June 29 through July 6 and, for the most part, had a wonderful time. Our grandchildren really enjoyed the grounds and loved watching the salamanders grow and change in the pond while we were there! The children also enjoyed the indoor swimming pool and spa. The biggest problem is that this home does not have air conditioning which was advertised when we made our reservation. The downstairs got very hot each afternoon (near 90) and there was no way to cool off the area. The grill part of the range is always “on” and emits warmth all day. The bedrooms have fans, but this only moved the hot air around. We also thought it strange that only one window in each of the rooms was able to be opened. It would have helped a lot, especially at night, if we could have opened all of the windows to let the cool air flow through the home. We asked the caretaker about this, and he said the owner only likes to have one window per room open. Not sure why . We had a lot of fun swimming in the Homestead Crater, enjoying Utah Olympic Park, riding on the Heber Railroad and boating in Deer Creek Reservoir. We also went on many hikes which were close to the house. Overall, we had a very enjoyable time at the Stonehill Lodge.
