About this property

Lakefront Family Retreat w/ kayaks, near Lake MI!

Beautiful home nestled on the shores of all-sports Duck Lake! Perfect for families looking to make lifelong memories at a quiet, scenic retreat. Spend leisurely afternoons by the dock or out on the water. Challenge a friend to some pool, ping pong, or foosball. Take a swim in Lake Michigan or hike some trails at Duck Lake State Park--only 2 mins away! For the thrill-seekers, Michigan's Adventure is 8 mins by car. Location and amenities make this a true northern gem!

The space
Spacious home with lots of beds and plenty of indoor amenities and entertainment!

Dock is in the water from Memorial Day through Labor Day. When lower level lake access is open (seasonal, depending on weather -- open approximately from April through October), guests can enjoy use of 4 kayaks, 2 paddleboards, and a paddleboat. Some lifejackets available. Guests are encouraged to bring their own to ensure correct fit.

IMPORTANT: Home is equipped with an indoor and outdoor decibel-monitoring system to ensure compliance with noise requirements. Guests who book this property agree to the rules and will be charged an extra $500 noise deposit, refundable if the rules are followed and neighbors are respected. Thank you!!

13 reasons this might NOT be the right vacation home for you. PLEASE READ before booking.

1. You're looking for a party house. . . or your group is rowdy and won't be able to respect our neighbors. This is a quiet setting (equipped with a decibel-monitoring system to ensure compliance!), as we love our neighbors and the peace of the area. For guests to stay here, it's important they agree to help maintain the peace of the area. NO MUSIC OUTSIDE the home, and no disruptive or loud noise (shouting, singing, partying, etc.) at any time of the day. Any music inside the house MUST NOT be audible outside the house. Each booking is subject to a $500 noise deposit, refundable if noise rules and neighbors are respected.

2. Your group won't be able to respect property lines. ABSOLUTELY NO TRESPASSING outside the property onto our neighbor's properties.

3. The sixth bedroom and bathroom are in the basement. There's an egress window and quite a bit of natural light; however, no lake views. (Most other rooms do have lake views!)

4. In the summer, the ground by the lake can become a bit soggy. This occurs for a variety of reasons, but we can't control it unfortunately.

5. Due to the on-demand hot water heater, occasional variation in water temperatures during showers can occur.

6. Steps to the lake and seasonal lake access closures. Approximately 50 steps down to the water. Additionally, due to safety concerns, the lower level lake access is closed from approximately November-March.

7. Swimming requires use of a ladder off the dock--no ability to walk into the water.

8. The upstairs rooms share one small full bathroom (for room with Cali King and crib, room with two queens and two singles, common space with two queens). The bathroom is off the common space. Main floor has two full bathrooms, which is a bit disproportionate to the distribution of beds.

9. No garage.

10. Narrow (but long) lot. ABSOLUTELY NO TRESPASSING onto our neighbors' properties!

11. Surrounding area has only a few local restaurants and convenience stores. More restaurants and commercial attractions are nearby in Whitehall, North Muskegon, and Muskegon, but there's a limited offering within 15 minutes.

12. We do not provide firewood, but it is sold locally.

13. Home is not baby-proof.

OUTDOOR LIVING: Deck w/ outdoor dining area, fire pit, gas grill, viewing deck overlooking the lake, dock (seasonal availability), 4 kayaks, 2 paddleboards, paddleboat, swing set, beach chairs

INDOOR LIVING: Multiple living spaces, fireplace, large dining table with extra chairs, Smart TVs, game room w/ ping pong, foosball, and pool table, TV room, lots of beds (sleeps 22)

KITCHEN: Fully equipped, coffee maker, Keurig, cooking basics & spices, pots & pans

GENERAL: Free WiFi, air conditioning, complimentary toiletries, linens & towels, in-unit laundry machines, hair dryer, keyless entry

PARKING: No garage, but ample outdoor parking in the long driveway

Other things to note
For safety, Duck Lake access (lower area) closed seasonally, approximately November-March (varies depending on weather/ice on lake). Kayaks/paddleboards/paddleboat unavailable when lower area is closed. When open, use is at the risk of the guest.

Dock is available Memorial Day through Labor (may vary slightly depending on weather)

Great holiday family gathering

What a wonderful time we had at this fabulous home on the lake. It is immaculate, cozy, roomy and the lower level was a hit. Excellent communication between host. Gourmet kitchen was well stocked! We had a group of 15 and never ran out of plates, silver or cups the whole time. Beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the fireplace and outdoor fire pit.. I highly recommend this beautiful home for your next vacation

A wonderful location for our family

"What a really good place for us to stay for the weekend" was the unanimous comment from our group. Plenty of sleeping spaces, sufficient bathrooms, efficient kitchen and dining area, and enjoyable activities in the house and nearby. Our family of 14 persons, living in three countries, has never been together before. We needed a place that made this experience a valuable time together. This house was perfect for us.

Great place

The house is very large and the amenities were all you could ask for. The 48 steep, wooden stairs to go down to the water was a lot. Especially for me with a bad leg. And most parents had to carry their kids. But was great once you got down there.

Amazing Home

This home is amazing! Anything you could possibly want or need is provided. The kitchen has great appliances as well as anything else you may need for ease of cooking in. The large table allows for everyone to eat together!! We didn’t have any outdoor time between the snow and our schedule, but that didn’t matter because there are multiple TVs as well as a pool table, ping pong table, foosball table and many board games. The beds are comfy and the bathrooms are well stocked and really nice! If you have a lot of people or want a lot of space to spread out, this is the place for you!!!

Michigan-finally

This is a beautiful property sitting on Duck Lake which has an inlet into Lake Michigan. Numerous kayaks and paddle boards are provided, as well as life jackets to fit a wide range of children up to large adults. The dock and ladder are good for launching the watercraft and for fishing. It's also a great spot for watching the sun set. The house is spacious with a well-equipped kitchen. A feature we appreciated was table and seating for twelve in the kitchen/dining area, which is duplicated on the large deck. The lower level is well done with a great game room, a "theater/TV" room, and a bedroom with full bathroom. A second refrigerator located in the lower level is great for chilling drinks and storing extra food. In the evenings, we made use of the fire pit for roasting hot dogs and s'mores. Campfire games and stories were a big hit. My family enjoyed the water activities on Duck Lake, as well as the beach at Lake Michigan. Proximity to the Silver Lake area provided an adventurous day at the dunes. Considering the activities our family enjoyed, this property is a possible repeat. Thank you Rachel, Hannah, and Pete.

Great experience

Lots of room for kids and/or adults. Table games, tvs and places to sleep without sharing a bed or sleeping on the couch. Exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommended.

Perfect for family time

We had a great time enjoying family. The house was perfect for our group and the kids loved the game room. Other than a slight difficulty at check in (sounds like this was self resolved, I was not the first one there) and communication with property manager (again related to check in but all was well in the end)it was a great stay. Would definitely book it again. The perfect place for time with family.

Great Family Retreat

This place is great for a big extended family to stay at. Plenty of rooms and beds to spread out in. The lake was just big enough and was very pleasant to boat and swim in. The family had a blast with the many paddle boards provided by the dock.

Everything you need for a great vacation.

We had a wonderful week at this home. This house is set up perfectly for all ages We had 3 families staying here along with a year and a half year old a 3 year old and a 4 year old. Everyone had their own space so we all got good night sleep. Kitchen was very well stocked -plenty of dishes silverware glasses -we never ran out -and the best is the great large fridge and another one in the basement. Perfect for all the food we brought with us. Grocery stores are a little bit of a drive. Great deck overlooking the lake with plenty of chairs and gas grill was a real plus. Shed by the lake had all the life jackets we needed even for the little ones and 4 kayaks and 4 stand up paddle boards we used to paddle across the lake to the state park and to Lake Michigan. Wonderful week Hoping to be back next year.

LOVELY HOME ON THE LAKE!

We had 18 family members ranging from ages 6 months to 90! There were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. The kids loved the large room with 5 beds upstairs so they could all sleep in the same room. The house was nicely decorated. The basement was amazing with the pool table, ping pong table and foosball table. We loved it. The deck was nice to hang out on. The lake was beautiful. There were so many kayaks and stand up paddle boards, all of our family members could go on the lake together. The kitchen had everything you needed and plenty of room in the house to hang out with everyone at once. We had a great time!!

Amazing family weekend on Duck Lake

This house is *awesome* to host a large group right on a beautiful lake. We loved duck lake. It is quiet, had minimal motorized vehicles on the water and tons of nature. The ping pong, pool and foosball tables in the basement were top notch. Having two refrigerators was very helpful for a large group. We highly recommend this house.
