Togwotee Mountain Lodge: We're Going Back There Again
Togwotee Mountain Lodge provides a rustic, cozy mountain inn and cabin experience with convenient access to both GT and Y-S National Parks for Summer and Winter vacations. First I’ll tell you about the staff. They were some of the most friendly, helpful and competent we have ever experienced at comparable facilities! The cabin and grounds staff were very attentive to our needs, often checking in with us as they went about their duties. Requests were tended to quickly. The lodge desk and restaurant staff treated us with warm, friendly service, often answering in detail questions about the area. They genuinely liked serving us and felt like friends by the time we left!! Particularly, I'd like to mention staff members Charlene, Danny and Michael in the restaurant/pub as exceptional, not to neglect others we encountered. (Management: take note!) The Lodge sits at 8900 ft elevation on US highways 287 and 26 away from the major tourist routes and tourists--this was nice after busy days in the parks. Although remote, basic needs for multi-day lodging/touring are available. The lodge property has a gas station (24hr self-service) and a small convenience store with laundry facilities. The lodge building has a restaurant and pub. A great place to come "home" to after long, busy days in the parks. My family of 7+dog stayed comfortably in two cabins situated next to each other nestled in the pines. We stayed 5 days in early June when the Summer session just started--our first REAL escape from Covid!! The cabins were clean and in good condition and offered two flat screen TVs and internet service. The beds were comfortable and bathrooms satisfactory with new, clean towels. They also contain small kitchenettes. They are well insulated (up-to-date, well-insulated windows and doors) with responsive electric heat for the very cool mountain mornings and lake evenings. The Lodge offers its own set of mountain activities: horse-back tours in Summer and is a major venue for snow mobiling with full-service rental services. One negative: kitchenettes are aging and need updating. One refrigerator failed but was replaced within hours of our complaint. Since we hit the place essentially pre-season, the restaurants were not fully staffed so no breakfasts or lunches were available yet. We were directed to Hatchet 5 ml away for breakfast. This was disappointing, BUT not all areas of both national parks including the restaurants and lodging facilities were open or fully opera
