About this property

Big Bend Bungalow B

Our Big Bend Bungalow Casitas are spacious with spectacular views of the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend National Park to the East and South. With two queen beds, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, sink, and eat - at bar, the casita also boasts a private bath with a large Saltillo tiled shower. A stucco wall around the front provides privacy. The prime location is on State Highway 118 in Study Butte; minutes from restaurants and shopping and the Western entrance to Big Bend National Park. Also minutes from local outfitters for rafting, jeeping and ATV tours. After a day of hiking or rafting, you will appreciate the Casita's proximity to numerous restaurants, fuel and grocery stores. We are located just off Highway 118 so there is no need to hunt for the casita in the dark skies or on rough, high clearance vehicle required roads in the area. The casita has one of the best, unobstructed, views of the Chisos Mountains of any rental in the area.

Cute casita

We loved our stay at casita b, it was actually bigger than I thought it would be. The location was absolutely perfect for daily visits to the national and state park and visiting the terlingua ghost town as well. Absolutely loved it, I would stay there again

Excellent stay - bring your own coffee!

The casita was wonderful for our family. The beds were comfortable and the kitchenette allowed us to eat some meals there. The only thing lacking was the coffee. The pictures show a Keurig coffee maker, so I came prepared with coffee pods, but there actually was not a Keurig. There was a small coffee maker, but there were no filters for it. I would've brought filters and coffee for it if I'd known. We were able to buy the tiny filters that fit it and some ground coffee at the grocery store. We left those filters for future tenants.

Great location and peaceful!

A friend and I stayed here while visiting Big Bend National Park. The casita was spotless, close to the park and provided a great place to rest in between park adventures!

Perfect for a short stay

My partner and I stayed for 4 nights and 3 days. Place was cozy, clean and more spacious than we thought it would be. Beds were comfy and the shower had good temperature and pressure. We were close to alot of spots like the gas station, and some eateries. At most, restaurants and the general store were about 10 minutes away. The road leads straight to big bend national park, about 30 minutes. The only downs were that some dishes weren't clean when we got there and we could never connect to the wifi (the owners never got back to us and I messaged them through the app the first night). Besides that though, we'd stay here again!

Very nice, but needs some electrical work.

We have stayed in the other Casita before, and this one is the same. It is as advertised. However, attention needs to be paid to a couple of electrical things that aren't to code. The light switch cover in the bath does not cover the box, and both the bath and the kitchen should be protected with GFCI outlets.

Casita in Terlingua

Overall the location of this property was good. We were able to explore the National Park, State Park, Terlingua and Lajitas. The casita was fine for what little time we spent there, however the inside of the property was not clean and the host did not communicate promptly. It was cute but just missed the mark a bit. Recommendations- cleaning needs to be a priority, larger refrigerator since many will want to cook given the remoteness of the area, more communication from host.

This was exactly as described. It was clean and about as close to Big Bend that you could get outside of the park. The heat/cooling worked great as well as the wifi. It is bigger than it looks from the outside. Would stay there again.

Perfect little stay!

We had a lovely stay in this little bungalow. It had everything you need for a visit. We visited both BBNP and the state park nearby (don't forget to visit that). A little coffee maker to brew some coffee was wonderful as an afternoon pick-me-up after a long morning of hiking, along with a mini-fridge to hold the basic necessities. It also had fully running water, with a full bathroom and drinkable water. Sometimes that can be hard to find around here! I will say there were flies, but it is the desert so what can ya' do. It's how it is! We just used the little fly swatter and killed them, but maybe some fly tape would be good in the corners of the building. Thank you so much for hosting us and we loved the visit! :)

Nice property, close to Big Bend NP and Terlingua sites. Clean, quiet and good A/C. Only downside was lack of communication from property manager. Sent two inquires and never heard back.

Great typical house. We spent very good time. The view is magnificent. It would be perfect if the property was provided with wood for the burning fire pit, portable cooktop, some pans to cook.

Had issues and no response for almost a day

When we first arrived the door was wide open. Not giving a great impression of security. Texas had just been hit with cold weather and the place was freezing!! Luckily there wasn’t anyone already in the place. Also, had issues getting the heat to work. After numerous YouTube videos we were able to get it to work. Not sure why it didn’t work when we just toggled to heat and bumped the temp up. I reached out to the host who didn’t respond that day. I reached out to VRBO who asked for a video showing it was blowing cold air. The door would shut if you slammed it shut. Because we didn’t get any answers in a timely matter we all packed our stuff anytime we had to leave. VRBO was a pain to deal with. Terrible customer service from them. If we had not had any issues with the first night, the place would have been perfect. Great location and just what we needed to visit Big Bend for a few days.

Convenient and easy

Great location for accessing the area. The fire pit and grill came in handy and made for some great nights. Beds were comfortable and house was clean and nice. Only complaint is that it’s right on SH-118; road noise isn’t an issue but the house is a car length and a half off the road.

Perfect little casita

We had a great time staying here. It’s about 30 minutes from big bend, there’s a little grocery store close by, and the restaurant our host suggested was fun and had nice staff. The casita was perfect for our needs, full bathroom, comfy bed, kitchen with a mini fridge and microwave. Our host supplied keurig coffee and even left us a bottle of wine! There is a fire pit outside with wood. There is a charcoal grill available (you supply the charcoal and lighter fluid). We watched the sunrise each morning from the front porch and stargazed outside from the picnic table. If we return to terlingua we would love to stay here again. Thank you!!

Great Location

Great Location and views of the mountains and even stargazing. Easy checkin and air conditioning worked great. The listing was inaccurate in that it listed fire extinguisher and first aid kit, neither were there at least that i can find. I'm a Safety guy, so maybe that's no big deal to others. Also, we connected to network, but no internet. The info in the house gave a phone number to call for any issues. I tried contacting it for 2 days then got a reply that person had sold and another person now owned the Vrbo. Overall clean place, few amenities (eg; no broom, no flyswatter,) Fire pit was nice, and picnic table. Would stay here again.

Big Bend vacation

Great location. Right on the highway. Very close to Big Bend! GPS was a little off for finding the place- but the host gave easy directions to find it. Other reviews commented on the loud road noises- but honestly we didn’t notice it a whole lot. Issues- No Wi-Fi during our stay. Due to location we did not have phone reception. We were able to use the gas stations guest Wi-Fi finally to contact the host. The response was they sent someone to look at it but it was never fixed during our stay. This was a huge inconvenience to us. We had no way of notifying our family we had made it safely. We have pets at home that we couldn’t check in on. Also- our son has food allergies that we would not have had any way of contacting emergency services if needed. We took that chance going into a remote area but it was advertised that there was Wi-Fi at this location. There was no broom! I felt awful leaving a dusty home from our adventures. Outdoor seating was nice for supper to watch sun set!

Overpriced

While the location was good for staying near Big Bend, the road noise is very loud and the one AC/heating unit is not user friendly for someone passing through town.. No instructions are provided on how to use it. We froze the first night because we could not figure out how to switch from AC to heat. The owner did respond to email after the first night and told us how to switch it to heat, but no further instructions were given. Then the next 2 nights we were up all night switching from heat to cool when it would get too hot. I’m sure if you stay during the summer when you want the AC on continuously it will be fine. Not ideal for winter time though. We were only there for 2 full days and one of those was waisted because we were all completely exhausted due to no sleep, which doesn’t mix with with young children. I might would expect this from a budget motel but not when paying this rate.

Husband and wife of 34 years, and daughter and her fiancé are helping manage. We have owned property in this area for many years, but it was only a vacation spot for us until we decided to purchase a couple of businesses in Terlingua. We LOVE Terlingua and the whole Big Bend area!

Why they chose this property

This casita is conveniently located near the West entrance to Big Bend National Park. This property has solitude, and beautiful views of the Chisos mountains to the east, and Big Bend mountains to the south. Maticulously kept its 2 years young!
