We’ve come here a few times now and it’s a great spot. Awesome property and a plenty of room in the house. Kitchens are decently well stocked for cooking while here.
This is a really interesting property. The original house and the later addition are a bit different but it makes for a charming and functional vacation home. The huge and relatively lot is beautiful and allows for lots of room to play and enjoy.
The location on the lake is ideal (about mid-lake) and offers great views of the lake and mountain.
We love this house and the sweet siblings that own it! It feels like home and that’s why we keep returning. You can find a better spot on the lake for fishing and swimming! The house has a lot of space for each person to have great personal space and it’s so close to Bridgewater! We can’t wait for Summer of 2025!
Been coming to SML on vacation off and on for over 20 years. This is my favorite rental so far. Location on the lake was great. Multiple refrigerators was awesome. Plenty of space for my crew to spread out. Quick response from Ted for any questions.
This is our second summer spending a week at this lake front property. In short, the week was great fun! Although this is an older property, there is plenty of room, comfortable beds, abundant hot water, well equipped kitchens (yes kitchens-there are two). We swam, fished, skied, napped...Although the home does not have high end finishes it is comfortable, clean and a place where I am sure lots of sweet memories have been made. The grandkids were particularly fascinated with the "prehistoric" jacuzzi in the primary bedroom! Lots of stairs, but hey, that justifies the second serving of dessert!
Amazing home with plenty of room for multi-generational families. We had a wonderful time sitting outside and enjoying the lake. Only about 50 minutes from Liberty University which was very convenient for graduation. We loved the home and the amazing view.
We enjoyed our stay so much. The area is beautiful and the house is large, but cozy. Lots of room to spread out, which was great, but the house has three levels, so would not be good for anyone who doesn’t want to walk up and down stairs often. The view is incredible with about 220 degrees of shoreline. We built a fire one night and even took the kayaks out on a sunny day in late November. Heavenly! Also, we brought a pickleball net and set it up on the tennis court which was just down the street from the house. Very fun! Couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend Thanksgiving with a family of 11 adults.
The location and property is really awesome with a nice amount of grassy area. House is very nice and big, two kitchens is nice for a bigger group. Kitchens are well equipped to with everything needed for cooking. Had been here under a different friends reservation before and would come back again.
The location of this property is amazing - located on a peninsula at the end of a private road. The dock has a covered area where we hung out while the kids played in the water. There is a fire pit right on the point on the peninsula. We cooked over the fire 2 different nights during our stay. It was very quiet and restful there too.
The location of the property is amazing .... this is not an over the top property but is feels like home and I thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Will be going back.
We have rented several different homes at the lake over the years and this was hands down the best. Plenty of room, reasonably flat lot and the house design is very interesting (2 kitchens, lots of deck space, bedroom layout). The dock left a little bit to be desired but it worked well for our boat and 2 SeaDoos.
Overall it is an outstanding home, full of character and super clean.
Five stars for sure!
We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at the Comer house! We felt like guests in their home and could see the house held lots of happy memories! The location could not be better and our big extended family had plenty of space to spread out!
Love this house for our annual family vacation for 8 adults and 4 children. This was our second year to stay here. Lots of room, huge yard with a dock, fire pit, and sand play area. House and furnishings are somewhat dated, but very comfortable, clean, and well maintained. We rented a pontoon boat for a day and were able to pull it up to the dock easily. Will stay again in future years.
This was our third year at Hickory Cove. It rained all week, but this home is large enough to get together in the basement or on the porches and watch it as it rains. ;(
Ted is a amazing to work with. I had issues with the VRBO site and he immediately went into action to get things worked out for me.
You will not find a better piece of land at Smith Mountain Lake or a home more furnished with your needs in mind, than this one. Even in the rain our boys m enjoyed the fishing and waking up to the deer laying outside the doors, it’s beautiful!
We are praying something opens up for us next year!
Our family had a wonderful week in this terrific home. This is an older home with dated bathrooms and kitchens, as the pictures show, but it is spacious and comfortable and worked very well for our family. The property is lovely and the location and views could not be better. We would happily stay here again!
We were in VA for my daughters graduation from LU. We have friends on the lake and this property was an excellent location for our getaway. We had my family of 5, grandparents and my sister-in-laws family. There was PLENTY of room to spread out, but we spent most of our time in the upstairs kitchen/living area. We like to all be close to food. :) Between traveling to LU we were able to cook out on the included propane grill, play some games and relax and watch the sunset. Our friends came by with their boat so we didn't use the kayaks, and it rained the one night we were going to do the firepit, but that's ok, we enjoyed each other and were able to "get away" if we wanted some alone time. It's a very nice home and felt like home while we were there. Internet/Wifi was great and the lake was calming. We had a wonderful time!
If you are looking for a place with fantastic 360 views of the lake and mountains, then this is the place for you! A clean house with separate sleeping areas for 3 families and a yard where our young grandkids could just safely run and play—and “fish”! Best Easter egg hunt ever! Parking was good for 3 cars, with more at the end of the driveway. So many places to just sit and relax to enjoy the view. We enjoyed the fire pit on 2 evenings. Both kitchens were well stocked, grateful for the water dispenser. My husband enjoyed looking at the family pictures and learning a bit about the family—it really did feel like home! No one wanted to leave the “water house”! (2yo nickname!)
We had 10 adults that stayed and a family of four that visited for dinner on NYE. The property and lake view is fabulous. The house is large with plenty of room for a large group. The kitchens are well stocked, linens, and towels were provided. Check in and out was a breeze. The owners communicated with me promptly prior ti checkin and also when I had a quick question while we were there. A great place ti stay, thank you for sharing your home!
We had a wonderful time. Lots of room, more than we were anticipating. Location and views are great. Wish we had taken a set of binoculars to look across the lake.
We experienced a lot of bugs and the showers had hair that had not been cleaned up.
The home has some of the wear and tear you expected in an older house, but the pictures accurately portray what to expect.
The property itself is probably one of the most picturesque lots on all of Smith Mountain Lake. A firepit sits at the end of a point of land where you can enjoy a 270-degree view of the water. The calmness of watching the fire reflect over the water at night was extremely relaxing. We also enjoyed kayaking on the lake in the day time.
The owners communicated well, and it was a very enjoyable weekend for a group of 10 college friends who were in the area for the Virginia Tech Homecoming football game.
We traveled from Ohio and stayed here for our son's wedding. The house was super clean, well stocked, and incredibly roomy. We spent lots of time on the many porches and dock enjoying the sunny weather and view. Beautiful property! Wish we could have stayed longer!
Beautiful home with amazing view of Smith Mountain!
Plenty of space with 2 kitchen areas, home is dated, but extremely comfortable! Very comfortable beds & plenty of them! We would definitely stay here again!
My family has stayed at this house previously and has hard a wonderful time. My husband and I both love the location on the lake and the views of the sunrises and sunsets will take your breath away. The house provides a lot of space for everyone to spread out and do their own thing. Awesome lake home.
