Come visit the horses, chickens, donkey and mini horse and don't miss Ricky, our resident otter, floating on his back while you have coffee from the deck. Catch and release fishing. Ping pong. Hot tub. Fooz ball. Outdoor propane firepit. BBQ. What more could you add for? It's a pippy Longstocking dream come true! Pellet stove upstairs and wood burning stove downstairs. Beautiful setting

The property was the perfect setting and location. My daughter got married at a venue only 10 mins away. It was the perfect location for our family. The kids loved all the animals. And the view was amazing.

Wedding Weekend

We picked this property due to it's proximity to a wedding venue (5 minutes!). What started as just a convenience turned into a family vacation weekend. The heavy winter had turned everything green and flowers everywhere. We had a great BBQ on Friday night for just the 6 of us and enjoyed it on the back deck overlooking a flower surrounded pond. Canoeing the next morning after a perfect hike added to the stay. 4 adults and 2 kids getting ready all at the same time was no problem with all the bathrooms in the home. Thank you Linda for mini holiday and for making the check-in process easy!

Beautiful property for a relaxing weekend with friends

My friends and I rented the Linda's property for a get together to celebrate some milestone birthdays and we had the loveliest time! The house is so beautiful, the ponds and grounds so calming. There are wonderful little strategic benches and chairs placed all around. It was fun walking our dogs in the morning and checking out the horses and other animals as well. Linda was great too with communication leading up to the trip and had great advice. All in all would highly recommend Linda's home! We hope to stay here again one day.

A wonderful weekend get-a-way

We gathered with some friends and family. There was a lot of adventure for kids to be kids right there on the property. Plenty of space for everyone. We all enjoyed visiting with the animals and Mike. We even got to bring our own fury familiy member!

Beautiful Property in the Country

We had a great time, the propery was a dream! The backyard with the pond was so cute and we enjoyed the sounds of the bull frogs at night. The house is at the end of the long gravel road so it can take a little bit of a drive to get there. The beds and cots that were provided were smaller and in poorer condition than expected but we made it work. The microwave was not operational which meant we couldn't heat up our food. Overall we had a great stay and enjoyed our time!

Best morning coffee on the deck overlooking the lake

Fun farmhouse, great property, for multi-family gathering. The kids loved playing ping pong and foos ball, the adults all landed on the back porch listening to the morning chatter of all the birds. Easy drives over to Nevada City, Yuba River, and the area. But really, we also just liked hanging out at the house together.

The property was so beautiful and exactly as advertised. We wished we could stay longer! So peaceful. The kids loved seeing the horses. The extra house on the property was perfect for the littles with an earlier bedtime. An awesome space!

Family Memories Made

Our family spent 4 days and 3 nights. From the moment we arrived we knew we would be making memories. The kids loved canoeing in the pond, swinging and playing. We were able to book riding with Amanda and the kids all had a blast! The ranch manager, Mike, was super friendly and even let the kids help with feeding the horses. The only drawback was the master bed wasn’t super comfy, but everyone else in the house loved the beds. We had an incredible time and will definitely book here again!

Beautiful property for a weekend getaway

The house had plenty of space and everything we needed for a weekend getaway. Peaceful and well maintained. Ranch manager was kind and knowledgable as well. Internet is okay if needed for heavy bandwidth/work, but you'll soon forget while enjoying the beautiful space.

Country get away

We loved our weekend at the ranch! We got a chance to say hi to all of the animals with a furry escort from dogs. The wood and pellet stoves made our evenings cozy as the rain poured outside. What a view!

Relaxing family time

Family get together with enough space. Every home has is quirks, this one did not have many, and none of it really mattered. Every aspect of this place met our needs, the house, yard, animals, pond with a kayak, hot-tub, ping pong table, firepit. We enjoyed every aspect of it. Even Mike, the caretaker and his wonderful dogs made us feel so welcome. Linda was very communicative and responsive as well. Thank you Linda!

Bizarre

First, we had a great time at the property, however, the ending was rather strange. As our house rental history ratings proves, we always leave our rental homes clean, neat and orderly. The night we arrived back at our home, I was asleep and received a call at 11:25 pm from the rental home owner. I missed the call. A couple of unsettling and confusing texts with photos followed at 11:26 pm: a picture of a rip on the jacuzzi cover and a picture of garbage items on the ground (second photo apparently not intended for me). Upon our arrival, the house cleaners were still cleaning and the jacuzzi was next on their list. The rip on the cover was already in place, before we touched the jacuzzi. In fact, there were previously placed pieces of duct tape on the cover, in various areas. The kitchen appliances are in need of repair: -Refrigerator filter leaks water onto the floor. -Microwave above stove does not work. -Oven door does not completely close; we taped the door shut to use. -Island sink leaks water onto floor; we continuously wiped to avoid slipping. -Found cigarette butts on the floor in the pantry The unruly texts from the rental home owner continued the following morning after our trip. I was informed by VRBO that all communication to the guests should be on the VRBO platform. What a bizarre and disappointing ending to the weekend!

Potential to be amazing!

I'll start off by saying that the property is absolutely amazing with the ponds and the horses. However, there are some key things that should be advertised better and experience could improve. First, the road to the house is gravel - like - maybe 10 minutes or so of gravel, this should be advertised. You should know what your vehicle is going to need to handle. Second, there is a swamp cooler in the living room and one small window AC unit in the master bath. There is a ceiling fan in there and one standing fan as well, but there really needs to be more fans in the house. We happened to go during a heat wave and it was 100 in the house when we arrived. The owner could have had the person that lives on the ranch turn the units on before our arrival so we at least had somewhere cool to go to when we got there.. The downstairs is not it when there is no air moving down there. Second, it got down to 75 in the house in the middle of the night and that was it. The owner has notes in the house saying to open the window at night but a lot of the windows don't have screens or the screens that are there, have holes in them. I wasn't really comfortable with this and we are clearly out in the country and I didn't want any critters climbing in through the windows that could potentially harm my dogs or child. The wifi wasn't that great (but it was there) and we had zero reception with Verizon. My husband enjoyed fishing in the ponds and I enjoyed seeing the horses from a distance. We had allergy flare ups before our trip and the swamp cooler made it significantly worse to the point that we ended up leaving after one night because we were so were so miserable. The only other thing to note is that there aren't any window coverings. So, expect to have sun in the rooms when it comes up. Thankfully, I had brought travel black out shades for the room because that would have been very hard for my son. The outside is decorated with lights really well at night to keep it illuminated but this was very hard for him (he wanted to look!) while going to sleep. Overall, if we were to stay here again it would have to be during a very cool time of year. The owner did say she'd give us one night free if we booked again and I did appreciate that of her. The decor was as stated and the wood working was very intricate and detailed for those that pay attention to stuff like that. Super cool details.

Amazing place

This was the first stop of our trip and I'm bummed we started on such a high. Nothing will be able to top this location! The house was big enough for our group (5 adults and 8 kids). We stayed during a heat wave but were cool enough inside. There is a swamp cooler for the living room and the master bedroom has a window AC. The downstairs rooms were cool enough just because they were downstairs. We didn't have cell phone signal, but the wifi was good and had no problems getting online. But we didn't stay here for the house, we stayed because of the property! Our kids (and some of the adults) rafted in the pond by the house. (We brought our own supplies but there was a canoe to use and life vests for the kids.) The kids went fishing (there were fish, but our first time fishermen were just happy to fish and catch nothing). They caught crayfish, frogs, and tadpoles though! The kids took a horseback riding lesson with Amanda (which was so nice because she was great and it was right on the property). We walked around the lower pond a few times a day. There isn't anything really close to the property to do, but that is expected because of the location and what we wanted. It was a fun and peaceful location and we didn't need to go anywhere else. (The caretaker of the horses, Mike, told us about a nice place, South Yuba River State Park, to go float around in a river about 30 minutes away so one day we did that but it would have been just as nice to stay home because the property was so perfect.) Before we even left the kids were asking when we would go back! I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful property, great quiet getaway

Linda’s property is absolutely gorgeous! The home was lovely. Waking up to seeing the horses and the pond was such a treat. For 3 moms and their preteen daughters girls trip, this was the place to go. If we come again, we will be booking horse lessons next time! The sunsets were breathtaking. The space was great and so much fun to be had. Thank you Linda for opening your home to us. We hope we can plan a trip back soon!

Heavenly little ranch!

Linda’s place was an absolute delight! The home was so cozy with plenty of room for my group of 10, no one felt crowded at all. The property was incredible, waking up and seeing horses roam was so fun! We did horseback riding lessons with Amanda and it was such an easy going and fun experience. The kitchen was perfect for cooking while also being able to interact with those around you. The quietness of Smartsville helped us relax all weekend! I would give it more stars if I could.
