Relaxing trip to the Roost

My family and I had a good experience staying at this property. The onsite property manager is helpful and friendly. The location is 25 minutes from Possum Kingdom Lake and 20 minutes from Rocker B. We would stay here again.

5 Star

Just what we were looking for. Private, secluded, beautiful, and fun. The kids spent most of the day fishing. Definitely recommend and will book again.

Peace and tranquility!

We had a great weekend staying in "The Roost". It's so pretty and quiet. We were greeted by deer each morning and enjoyed the fire pit and sunset in the evenings. And Jim made us feel right at home. Would definitely stay here again.

Very cool

Jim is a great host. We woke him up at 1230 because we were lost and he was super nice about it (sorry Jim). Very cool property. The roost is a neat spot. We were in town for a concert. Will bring our kids back to stay and explore the property!

Peaceful Escape

The owner contacted us prior to our trip to provide instructions, met us when we arrived and gave us a tour of the entire camp ground. The cabin we stayed in was tucked away, was clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed long walks and fishing in each of the ponds. The owner even let ours on barrow a basketball to play some hoops. We will definitely be back.

Why they chose this property

Marluc Bella Vita Ranch is a 188 acre wildlife, nature and sports retreat facility located between Jacksboro, Texas and Possum Kingdom Lake. We specialize in serving families and groups of all kinds. Our Lodge accommodates. 35 people The Field House sleeps two adults and is located at the sports complex. The Wilderness Roost has four beds and overlooks wildlife feeders. The cabin sleeps five people The sunrise view over the valley below is spectacular. Our 29 foot class A Motor Home (we call the site “Reflection”) is connected to water, sewer and sleeps three people. Our 16 foot trailer (we call this campsite “Serenity”) sleeps two people. The “Refuge” and “Top-of-the-Dam” campgrounds are Group Campgrounds for use by families or camp Groups and each can fit up to 10 tents/small RV’s. There are six secluded tent/RV sites each with power and water, fire pit, charcoal grill and picnic table. Our gun range has a short distance pistol target plus rifle targets at 50, 100, 200 and 300 yards with three hard wooden shooting stations that will seat left or right hand guests. There are three archery bales placed along the range as well. The Gun Range is only available to guests booking the entire ranch campus and it’s facilities. Please do not attempt to use without Ranch Manager approval.

Fishing in the lake or upper pond and use of any of the trails for (non-motorized) mountain biking or hiking (10 miles of trails, five all-weather) is available to any guest at no additional cost. There are also three deer stands overlooking wildlife feeding stations on the trails that have seating and heaters available on first come, first serve basis. Rest stops with seating are located in the trails as well.

The sports complex has a picnic area with charcoal grill, field house (see above for cost), a lit basketball court, a sand volleyball court, an observatory with telescope, and a soccer and baseball practice field complete with goal and backstop. adjacent to the picnic area.

What makes this property unique

The ranch holds a wildlife property exemption through the state and county and the heavily wooded portion surrounds a new 4 acre lake with 10 miles of all-weather trails around the lake and the upper meadow where wildlife can be viewed from several deer stands. In addition to deer, dove, wild turkey and varmits such as coyote, bobcat, raccoon, skunk and armadillo there are numerous varieties of birds and fowl and we are constantly placing new covey's of quail on the property. An outdoor basketball court, sand volleyball court, sports field and field house with picnic area are available for bookings as well as a gun range (to guests booking the entire ranch facilities including the sports field, campgrounds and cabins.. A new one acre Crappie pond was added below the lake in October of 2020.
