This spacious and welcoming home with 6 Bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and one huge Guest Quarters with additional 1 bedroom, 1 studio and a full bathroom with kitchenette and a private entrance. High Open Beam Ceilings in the Great Room with many windows to make it light and airy.
Large roof deck off the Great Room for relaxing and BBQ with some ocean views. The kitchen features Stainless Steel Appliances, Granite Counter Tops and beautiful Gas Cook Top. In addition, a beautiful pool and deck area for all to enjoy. The house has several big smart TVs with Netflix, youtube and amazon video. High end appliances in the fully equipped kitchen. Outdoor BBQ and shower by the pool/spa will add extra quality family time for your vacation. Every bedroom has AC too.

Disappointed

There are some positives regarding this property such as close proximity to Magic Sands Beach, plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms, comfortable beds for the most part, nice pool, and plenty of dishes, appliances, etc. in the kitchen. It's also close to Walmart, Target and Safeway. Note: We paid to extra to get in at 2 pm. We arrived at 2:20 and the cleaning service was still there; they had no idea that we were coming early. The home is in need of a good Spring cleaning (cabinets, walls, windows, shampooing of furniture, cleaning of drapes, etc.) and exterminating (lots of bugs on floors and cabinets - our 4 year old grandson woke up one morning with at least 18 bug bites on his legs and arms - he was fine when he went to bed). We went to use the inflatable pool toys and all of them had holes in them and some of the float boards were tattered and torn. When we arrived the laundry room was extremely warm (figured it was due to washing of sheets by cleaning company), but was still extremely warm the next day. Contacted mgmt regarding this and light bulbs that were out and/or broken. They sent out the maintenance man who replaced a couple of bulbs (not the broken ones) and he told us there was nothing wrong in the laundry room. He didn't know his stuff because my husband noted that the dryer vents were not hooked up inside. We got locked out of the house one evening because the batteries in the door lock were dead; thank goodness someone was awake and was able to let us in. The maintenance guy came over to replace those and acted like it was no big deal. Also on our last night there, it decided to rain (rare for Kona side of island); we discovered a leak in the roof in the back kitchen/sleeping area which filled 2 large bowls of water and still rain over on the counter top. Also, you need to know that you are expected to wash all the towels and sheets (except 2 loads) before you leave; this took away several hours of my vacation time.....not happy. The neighborhood appeared to be nice except for the home directly behind this house which looked like it should have been condemned! NOTE: The owner was informed about all of these issues and pictures were sent to him. He was thankful for the info and hopefully is getting them addressed.

It did the job

It was great to be able to stay together. There were huge cockroaches and a lot of little lizards, which I guess is just a Hawaii thing. The house was falsely advertised. The pictures make the pool and hot tub look much bigger than they are. The listing says 7 bedrooms, the description says 6 bedrooms plus the extra ohana with two more rooms, in reality it was 5 bedrooms plus the ohana so we had to rearrange our sleeping plans. It was clean, plenty of towels. There were some leaks when it rained. All in all it was good, just not as nice as it appears.

Excellent Location

Loved the location and proximity to Magic Sands Beach. 3 families shared the property and never felt cramped. Plenty of room to relax in.

Great Location, lack of amenities

We enjoyed our time in Hawaii, and it was great that your rental property was spacious and so close to the beach. However, we experienced some major inconveniences: The garage was so full of items that we could not park a car inside. Without the safety of the garage, we had to load and unload our car every time we wanted to go somewhere. The electronic opening mechanism for the garage door also did not work. Upon entering the rental property the door to the pool was unlocked and ajar, as well as the door on the top floor to the lanai (open about 6-8 inches). There was a major shortage of bath towels. There was a major shortage of toilet paper, The hot tub did not work and was very unkempt. We booked the property specifically because it listed a hot tub. The bbq was out of propane. This was a major inconvenience for meals that we had planned for our stay, and we had to spend more money to purchase food from restaurants. The roof had a significant leak into the middle of bedroom 7 (underneath the lanai), and it rained quite a bit during our stay. It actually dripped onto one of our laptops, but luckily not enough to damage it. However, it did create a safety hazard. The air conditioner in the master bedroom was not strong enough to cool the room. Granted after submitting our complaints to the property manager we received a message that state that the property was under renovation (which we were not aware of). and they offered us a small bit of compensation. Overall we tried not to let the inconveniences affect our time in Hawaii as we mentioned the location was an amazing proximity to the beach and to town and we're quite sure that once the renovations are complete that it will provide a great location for someones next trip.

Magic at Magic Sands Beach

This house could not be in a better location! Within walking distance of Magic Sands Beach, and close to downtown Kona. There’s even a grocery store just minutes away. Our group of 18 (including 6 kids) fit perfectly in the house. We loved having a pool and hot tub, as well as a huge deck with enough table seating for everyone to enjoy meals together on the lanai. There were plenty of beach towels for everyone, along with boogie boards, snorkels, and sand toys for the kids. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again for an authentic Hawaiian experience!
