The location of this property was superb in that it was so close of a walking distance to the wineries and surprisingly wonderful restaurants. The property manager went to every level to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. It exceeded our expectations and made our trip a blast. If I am in Carlton or the Williamette Valley this will be our home
Great location for wine tasting. Fun house to stay, with all the art and collections. Spacious rooms and gathering areas. Only has 2 full bathrooms and 2 quarter bathrooms ie.1 with a shower and a sink and the other with a toilet and a sink. We made it work with 4 couples. Yes, we would stay there again.
Joka and Alexander could not have been more responsive or thoughtful. Their home is lovely and has every amenity possible. We had the best time and if our plans bring us to Carlton again, we will definitely want to stay here.
The hosts for this property were very kind and made sure that we felt welcomed. They stocked the fridge and provided other thoughtful items to make our stay more comfortable such as coffee, cream, tea, wine, etc.
The home itself was well suited for large groups, with plenty of space to spread out and also to gather together. Neighborhood was super safe and quiet and we were able to walk to the downtown restaurants and (our favorite) bakery in less than 5 minutes.
The house is full of interesting items collected over many generations and provided great conversation starters. Every bedroom had its own theme; you could imagine the joy that the hosts must have felt when they found and placed the items in each room.
We found it easy to get to all of our wineries, and appreciated the ones the hosts added to our list.
If you have the chance to stay at this property, take it! Joka was the sweetest person to work with and even added special touches to the house for our stay that were so thoughtful. The house was perfect for our family gathering with plenty of space and a great location. I cannot say enough good things about the house itself or Joka and Alexander. The communication with them was fantastic! It was truly a wonderful trip!
The house is as wonderful as it looks. My friends and I spent a long weekend exploring Carlton and wine country, and this is the perfect place to stay.
The house is so comfortable, most items that you need are readily available, and there is so much space to spread out or gather together without feeling on top of each other.
Loved this well appointed, historic and gorgeous home! Walked to wine tastings and fun in Carlton and enjoyed the warm and inviting living spaces throughout this HUGE and beautiful home!!
This property was perfect for my daughter’s 21st birthday girls weekend. The property owner was fun and attentive. The house is unique and amazing. We loved the comfortable outdoor space and indoor living space. Great for our group of ten. A special place to stay and the town of Carlton was a wonderful surprise.
Our stay was exceptional. Not only is the house beautiful with tons of space for our group of 10+, a full kitchen, so many spots for us to gather, but Joka really went above and beyond to make sure I felt celebrated for my birthday. Her and her son were very easy to get in contact with to help with check-in and provide recommendations within the area. Thank you so much for an unforgettable trip!
We loved the place, our rooms and the beautiful decorations throughout. Some liked to just relax in the house, others went for walks, some other of us went wine tasting---and tasted the wine the manager thoughtfully left for us! We walked to dinner and other meals. In all we had time to catch up with one another and enjoy being where we were with each other. Terrific time!
I stayed in the Alexander House with 8 of my friends/family to celebrate my upcoming marriage. We fell in love with the home the moment we walked through the door. The listing can’t even capture all the character, warmth, and beauty this property offers. So much space, lots of areas to gather and socialize with a large group, and amazing outdoor area with plenty of seating. We couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more!
The house was perfect for our stay in the Wilamette Valley. Walking distance to many restaurants, shops and tasting rooms, the location in Carlton cannot be beat! It is also very drivable to several Wilamette Valley wineries! Perfectly equipped. Well stocked kitchen. Beautiful Flowers and welcome gift was appreciated. The check-in process was very easy. Joka was always available in case we needed anything! When we come back, we'd love to stay again.
Excellent house with quirky decor. A second bathroom on second floor, where most bedrooms are, would have been well received.
Difficult to impossible, I presume.
Our stay was fabulous! 6 of us gals were in Willamette for my sister’s birthday and the Alexander house was perfect for us. Joka was incredibly kind and helpful. She had some welcome goodies for us on arrival and offered excellent recommendations for restaurants and wineries. They even dropped off a charcuterie board on our third day to help us celebrate the birthday. The house itself is huge and gorgeous and the beds were extremely comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed and we had everything we needed right there. Carlton’s adorable little downtown is a few blocks away and we enjoyed strolling down there to eat and shop. Thank you Joka for making a landmark birthday that much more special!
We had a really nice stay at this lovely, historic property in Carlton, OR. There were 11 people in our group ranging from toddler to grandma and we all had plenty of room to spread out. With 6 bedrooms, we had plenty of bedrooms too. It is certainly a very unique home with a lot of charm! The hosts went out of their way to send us recommendations before our trip and also make sure that we arrived safely. They even put out toys for our kids. They were fantastic to work with. The town of Carlton is so cute and the house is walkable to the community playground and pool as well as the shops, bakery, restaurants, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again sometime!

Great Home/Poor communication after stay
We reduced the number of guests from 12 to 10 before our stay and assumed that the "extra person" charge of $200 would be refunded. After our stay I inquired to owner on the refund and he responded "I just checked the payout and they left the additional guest charge in and you should definitely get that back." Nothing transpired for 10 days so I sent another email and response was "I didn't hear an adequate response. I am checking in again." Another 15 days passed with no response so I sent another email inquiring about the refund.
No response but the local host/manager did call. Her position was that the request is unreasonable as she left a nice charcuteire board along with a bottle of wine for us to enjoy. I told her that the board and wine was a nice gesture and we appreciated her thoughtfulness. I was taken aback that this was even brought up as I thought it a welcome gift and not something to be used as leverage in a dispute about a charge.
She also told me that a marble cutting board was broken. I check with the other guests and no one recalled a marble cutting board. Even though I do not believe the board was broken during our stay, I offered to deduct the cost of the board (manager estimate of $60) from the extra person charge.
Home was great for our group, the location was excellent, and manager was attentive to needs during the stay but being unable to resolve the extra person charge when the owner agreed to it has been disturbing.
We had a wonderful time staying in this well-appointed, eclectically decorated historic home. The bedrooms were all so cozy and comfortable, and the living spaces large enough for our group, yet soft and intimate. Our hostess was welcoming, kind and an excellent communicator. This was the perfect place for our trip. Thank you!
Overall it was a delightful experience in this very special house. We were treated like royalty with flowers and wine and fabulous snacks. The beds were comfortable. The oven needs heating attention. The decor simply over the top!!! A must stay!
Thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the Willamette Valley wine country and visits to six winery tastings. We stayed in this neighborhood home the end of August 2022, Monday through Friday. The town is well situated for daily excursions. Dinner options early in week were minimal, but several good grocery stores in the area. Beds very comfortable for our party of five (5) friends each having their own room. The gathering areas and dining options perfect for conversation. Two televisions, but I don't think we even turned them on. Very good water pressure. Upstairs the bath/toilet were separate rooms which proved to work very well. Two large full baths on the first floor. Manager Joka Moree was very welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay here!!
Love, love, love this place!
There were 7 of us who gathered here at the Alexander house. Some of the group has known each other for 50+ years ( yes we are senior citizens) We came from Florida, Ohio, Iowa and Illinois and Oregon. This house was perfect for all our needs and it was an easy drive from the Portland airport. We loved that we each had our own bedroom. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. Bathrooms had everything we needed. Kitchen is well equipped. And the house is beautifully decorated. There are several restaurants within walking distance and lots of wineries to visit in the area. The patio had nice outdoor seating for morning coffee and afternoon happy hour. Yoka, the host was easy to contact and delightful to talk with. Would definitely recommend this home to anyone who wants to get away to relax and enjoy some of Oregon’s beautiful wine country.
