About this property

Firewater Lodge Cabin Experience

Modeled after a historic wilderness log home, our family cabin is a blend of modern and rustic architecture running on geothermal energy. Featuring 25-foot vaulted ceiling, the main family room offers a relaxing lounge perfect for a wine hour. This beautiful log cabin is truly an unforgettable retreat. Nestled in the heart of Umpqua Valley and resting on the banks of a babbling creek, you will be overwhelmed at the stunning sights and sounds this location has to offer. “The Cabin”, as we call it, has been a family treasure for almost 15 years! Perfect for hosting family vacations, group retreats, or a couples getaway.

When you stay at the cabin, you will not just be enjoying the custom-designed, ethically harvested timber home our father dreamed of building, but also the many activities he enjoyed. Hike, taste wine or craft beer, fish, hunt for mushrooms, go panning for gold, and catch crabs on the Oregon Coast. All activities are close enough to the cabin that you won’t be more than 1.5 hours away.

Wonderful!

What a beautiful cabin. Spacious, clean, with all the kitchen utensils you could ever want. Had a problem with the dishwasher and the owner came over and fixed it the next day. Beautiful land. Enjoyed the wild turkeys! Would definitely rent again. Bathrooms were clean and well furnished. Lots of little extras.

Relaxing Escape…

We loved everything about our stay here!! Wonderful communication with our host, clean, and quiet were some of our first impressions! Check-in and checkout were simple and everything I could have thought of as a question is answered for me before I think of it. Open and comfortable living area made for a great movie night. We enjoyed playing in the creek and sitting by the fire pit! The kitchen was fully stocked, so appreciated! The beds provided plenty of space for all of us and everyone commented how comfy they all were…they definitely didn’t cut corners on the beds so great sleep was had by all! Really can’t thank them enough for the great stay and going the extra mile in so many ways!

Excellent location. Very peaceful and fully stocked. My 4 year old daughter told everyone when we went somewhere we lived in a “fancy house”! She had so much fun there! We will definitely be back.

Beautiful cabin in the woods, well stocked, clean and comfortable. Wished they had a propane fireplace outside to enjoy the outdoor patio, or a hot tub. It was fire season and no campfires were allowed.

Melrose Vineyard Wedding

My Wife, Daughter, her husband and our 3 Grand kids stayed at the cabin for my Son's Wedding at Melrose Vineyards. It was more than we expected! Great communication with the Host! Cabin was clean as whistle! Kitchen and cabin was well stocked with utensils, spices, towels, coffee, laundry and wish water soap. Everything you would need to make you stay comfortable. Cooking for the family was a breeze! The outside grills were great! The kids loved playing in the creek, seeing the deer in the evening, picking fruit, playing corn hole toss, and just enjoying to Oregon back woods experience. Plenty of games, coloring books, etc to keep them busy as well! We would this a 6+ if we could! Stay and you won't be disappointed! A true Oregon woods experience, that is close to many local treasures the area has to offer!

Well-maintained log home

Beautiful, well-maintained, clean. Log home made of large logs, with a high ceiling, and unique features e.g. a shower reminiscent of a mountain stream due to the use of a variety of stone/rock components.

A slice of heaven

Immaculate, well appointed and gorgeous home! The love and attention given to this home was apparent at every turn. After 2 weeks of road warrioring (we road-tripped from the east coast and camped for most of it), this home was such a treat for our family. The beds were comfy, the kitchen and bathrooms were beautiful, and the shared spaces including the backyard were designed for gathering. Our hosts were attentive and accommodating. The other family we traveled with had an RV and they had a separate space for the RV with full hook ups which was awesome and so hard to find in a rental. Do not hesitate to book this home if you are in the Roseburg area. I would give it more stars if I could.

Peaceful cabin on the creek

Overall 8/10 for us! Cabin was GORGEOUS! Just what you would hope for during a cabin stay. Property was remote, private and relaxing. Accommodations inside were awesome. From spices to extra towels and shower needs, this place is stocked with everything you would need. we played lots of corn hole, baseball and frisbee in the large yard. The creek was nice for the dogs and a cool place to put your feet. SO NICE listening to the birds and creek in the quiet moments. The beds are comfy and the kids loved the additional chill space upstairs with tv. We did have some disappointing moments that lead to no 10/10. #1- the ad for this property has a beautiful picture of a waterfall and swimming hole, at the top of the picture it states “ property grounds.” That location is 20 plus min. Drive away and has to be descended into via rope. What they do have is a creek, Good for dogs and putting your feet in. That was sad to find out once we arrived. #2 - neighbors large dogs coming onto the property first day in. We brought our two dogs, one being 20lbs, hoping to give them freedom but we were a little anxious after seeing that. #3- NO FIRES. No mention that may- Oct there is a burn ban until we arrived. perk of being out in that rural area at this particular home was the plan to relax, swim, smores , stare at a fire all night etc. We were sad a lot of that couldn’t happen. Overall we would recommend this house to friends, but would be honest so expectations were appropriate.

Spectacular

What a wonderful place to get away and enjoy life. Stunning log cabin with so many features. Beautiful backyard that we spent a lot of time in. Firepit was awesome as well as the grills. Everything so clean and so comfortable and perfect hosts who were always available for questions. We will be back again and again, as long as it is available. Highly recommended. Thank you to Jon and your siblings for making this available. Very impressive cabin.

A very special place

When we saw the description of this magical place we had to spend some time here. We stay in several VRBO properties every year. This ranks among the best all around. Every detail was covered. The kitchen is well equipped (quality cookware) and stocked. It is secluded, but that is what we wanted. We felt safe and the house is secure. It is a huge well manicured property with great indoor and outdoor spaces. Our dog was in heaven exploring every nook including the beautiful stream babbling through the back yard. The property is proudly hosted by the family who own it and who are very responsive. The lodge is very accessible with no stairs or obstacles, and would be comfortable for all ages. We highly recommend to all, and hope to return for a much longer stay.

Oasis in the woods

This was a wonderful cozy experience in rural Oregon. We had all the creature comforts of home. Excellent water in the showers, excess bedding, and any cooking utinsel we could ask for. Plus we had a lot of running space outdoor and access to a safe shallow creek and firepit. I would recommend this place to families with small children looking to get back to nature.

Beautiful home

An amazingly beautiful cabin in a quiet out of the way area. It has a well stocked kitchen and comfortable hanging out reading on furniture. We did a couple of great hikes and visited two wineries. We are hoping to bring the rest of our family soon.

A Dream

Photos didnt do this place justice! It was amazing. Just gorgeous. Cozy, private, just what we were looking for! Log house was spacious, modern, and comfortable, dare i say luxurious! The price was so reasonable too. Had everything we could possibly dream of needing! Would have been nice to know there was a gas grill there, we didnt bring steak bc we thought there was only a briquette style grill. Was a bit nervous when we saw the neighbors' place- was quite run down. But no one bothered us, and it was far enough away that it didnt detract too much from the appeal of the cabin! We want to return soon with our family! RENT THIS PLACE PEOPLE! you wont be disappointed!

About the host

Hosted by Jonathan Haeber

Host profile image
We are Erik, Brooke, and Jon – siblings and hosts for your stay at Firewater Lodge. This cabin was the dream home of our father, Mark Haeber, who passed away from cancer in 2020. His dream of finally building a cabin of his own in the Oregon forest was finally realized in 2010 when he built this home with his daughter and son-in-law.

Mark was a skilled machinist for decades and learned fluent Spanish on the job. He was an active outdoorsman and reverently respected nature and its bounty. Fishing, hunting, mushroom foraging, and homebrewing were among his many passions. He shared these passions with his two sons and loved to cook the food he hunted and gathered for family when they visited.

The name, “Firewater Lodge,” comes from our father’s love of a good fire on the porch and his deep interest in fishing and boating on the local lakes and rivers.

When you stay at the cabin, you will not just be enjoying the custom-designed, ethically harvested timber home he dreamed of building, but also the many activities he enjoyed.
