Hidden Gem

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was well appointed, and we enjoyed most evenings in front of the beautiful fireplace. The large porch with another fire place and jacuzzi were icing on the cake. The cabin was a short drive to Hatley Pointe resort where we spent most of our time. 10/10 recommend. We can’t wait to return with our kids in the near future.

Treetops experiance

Nice, rustic getaway. We enjoyed the hot tub. The cover was broken and heavy. We had difficulty getting it on and off. It should be replaced. Otherwise, fresh mountain air in a quaint, remote setting.

Do not book this property!!!!!!

would strongly advise against staying at this property. It was advertised as accommodating six people, but in reality, it only had two beds. The sofa was not a pull-out, and the air mattress provided deflated overnight, leaving us scrambling for sleeping arrangements. To make matters worse, communication with the host was atrocious. On Thanksgiving night, he suggested we find another place to stay in order to receive a refund—completely unacceptable. After that, he ignored my messages for two days.I ended up having to purchase a new air mattress myself, and it turned out to be the worst holiday experience of my life. The property itself had multiple issues: the locks didn’t work, the cleaning was subpar, and the towels were absolutely disgusting.I requested a refund, but of course, it was denied. Save yourself the headache and don’t book this place.

Best deck is no exaggeration!

Having stayed three times, the last being the entire month of Oct. 2022, I feel qualified to suggest that the deck with its large wood burning fireplace and hot tub is indeed a wonderful outdoor area. The deck is covered and surrounded by large trees and provides a great spot to watch deer as they pass by the house, sometimes in small herds of 5 or 6 animals. The forest floor is alive with chipmunks in the morning and a variety of birds will flock to the 3 feeders if you provide seed! The house is comfortable with a well-stocked kitchen. Bedrooms are large with sliding doors to the deck. Both baths are nice size and come with plenty of very plush towels. All in all, a great place to enjoy the beauty of Wolf Laurel any time of the year. Parking can handle 3 cars with no problems. Dan Morris, who manages the property, is attentive to any needs that might arise.

Beautiful retreat

My husband had a medical emergency while staying at the cabin, and the property manager and home owners were very communicative and supportive through the process. The cabin and location are beautiful, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking serenity - especially on the large outdoor patio!

A great cabin in the woods!

Having stayed twice and planning additional time in Oct., it should be apparent that we like the house and the great deck fireplace! The kitchen is excellent and has most anything one could need. Comfortable beds and furniture inside and lots of tables and chairs on the deck. An all around excellent Wolf Laurel rental!

Our stay .... interesting

Once communication was established, we had clean lodging and plenty of firewood ( We make alot of fires )and it was a pleasant stay . A beautiful property in a beautiful place . Bring your own grub unless you are a country club member or invited guest , and this is only when it is open for the season . If you want nature and getting back to some good ol' fire tending , this is your place .

Delayed

The property manager , Daniel Morris accommodated our date change due to illness to today , til Thur the 11th . He was aware but sent no one to make sure this place was cleaned per Covid standards . Dirty towels were in the kitchen floor , trash is full and the beds looked like they were just slept in . This is a first for a VRBO governed property we have ever experienced . This along with no returned emails or phone calls , not just today but prior to our leaving home . We had questions. Hopefully this is an isolated incident and hopefully someone will be here tomorrow , 11/8 to clean this place . Donald

That Fireplace! however...

I rented this property for two reasons, the fireplace for one obviously, and the close location to the Appalachian trail and Big Bald. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the cabin, the grill and the location and 1000% enjoyed the peace and quiet of the deck and fire...however it should be disclosed that there are multiple cameras on the property, one of which is facing the fireplace/deck area. Any vacationing traveler would consider this area a private, rented space/area. I def understand the cameras facing the driveway and the front door, I would probably do the same thing but not in an area where the renters will be actively using. Felt like an invasion of privacy in our opinion and I know, the response will be that the cameras are not monitored when the unit is actively being used, however it takes away from the experience a bit. Again our opinion, not all I'm sure. That aside the cabin is great, well stocked and is perfect for a getaway. I highly recommend going to Weaverville to Twisted Laurel. Great beer selection and amazing food.

Great house but things to know

We are very familiar with Wolf Laurel after having a family house there years ago - we knew what to expect and inquire about. Its a private access mountain resort/development with (some) amenities. Not much of anything within 25 minutes of driving. Bring food, expect to prepare your own meals. House and patio faces west and in general is very dark most of the day. I liked it. Some may not. Very woodsy feel. No AC. Be prepared with sleep with windows and doors open (there are screens). I liked this aspect. Some may not. Saw loads of deer around. This rental is a nice cabin style house that comes very well stocked. Loads of kitchen accessories, spices, towels, etc. and a tremendous deck that is partially roofed. Its not new and is worn or stained here and there but very typical for a mountain house and not an issue for us. The view from the house/deck is strictly woods as the trees tower above. Fine for me - others probably prefer a vista view. Maybe in winter there is a view. Hikes are around, including the mountain-top you can drive to before hiking. There is a club with restaurant, bar, golf. Current covid restrictions prevent use unless you are with the homeowner -IF they are members. Not clear if this house owner is a member. The other "club" on site is the pool, tennis, pickle ball club. It's very nice. They only require that the homeowner you rent from is a member in order to use these facilities. This rental owner is not a member. A bit misleading here since I communicated that we wanted to play pickle ball. I also emailed owner to learn if he was a member. Never got a response. In general, nice house, less than optimal communication. No big complaints though. Just know that VRBO renters are treated as somewhat second class here since there are amenities on site that are restrictive to them. Typical of a gated resort community. Hope this helps.

The huge deck is everything!

Girls' weekend would have been considered a wash out as much as it rained during our stay, but the huge covered deck allowed us to move freely inside and out whenever we wanted! Super comfy bedding, too. We had a great time!

AT Re-supply

We were able to re-supply and host our son for a zero-day who is out on an extended section hike of the Appalachian Trail. Access to Big Bald was easy and worth the short trek to see a spectacular view of the Appalachian mountains.

Perfect Place for a Quick Getaway!

The cabin is a cozy two bedroom with a great deck and fireplace inside and out! Internet was solid and kitchen had everything we needed. Location was perfect! Gated community offered lots to do. Quick access to Wolf Ridge skiing Tubing, a nearby hike and super convenient access to Big Bald scenic section of the Appalachian Trail. The online photos of Big Bald do not do it justice! The views are breathtaking! Would recommend this VRBO to anyone!
