Puamana 25A is a well-maintained, spacious vacation home offering 1200 square feet of comfort, privacy, and a fantastic location on Kaua'i’s North Shore! Though it has vintage character, the home is lovingly cared for and provides everything you need for a relaxing stay, including two air conditioned bedrooms, a fully appointed kitchen, and a cheerful, light-filled living and dining space. The beautiful bamboo floors throughout the house provide a touch of island luxury, and the two private lanais are the perfect spot to enjoy the mild tropical weather!

Situated perfectly for you to have quick walking access to all that Princeville has to offer, Puamana 25A is a fabulous jumping off point for your island adventures. Anini Beach, home to Hawaii's longest coral reef and perfect for swimming and snorkeling, is just a brief 8 minute hike away on a shady path. The Princeville Shopping Center is just 15 minutes away on foot, and has a Foodland grocery store and all the shopping and dining options you could want, including delicious, locally-churned ice cream at Lappert's! You can also visit the farmer's market every Saturday morning, and grab a bite before enjoying the free Saturday afternoon hula show. The Westin Resort is even closer, only 2 minutes walking, and offers access to a Starbucks, grab and go minimart, and upscale dining at the Nanea restaurant (head over for happy hour deals from 3-5!). For even more retail therapy and dining options, the picturesque island town of Hanalei is a 10 minute drive away, as are the iconic beaches of Hanalei Bay. For a quieter experience away from the crowds we recommend checking out the Kilauea Point Lighthouse and beautiful nature preserve just a short drive away.

If running around on vacation isn't your style, the Puamana grounds have all you need for a slow-paced, relaxing retreat. Spend the day lounging by the pool with a drink (no glass by the pool please), go for an evening stroll along the golf course greenbelt, or enjoy a stroll through the complex's vibrant tropical flower garden. For those looking to get around the island, drive time to the East Side (where the airport is) is about 55 minutes, and to the South Shore is roughly 75 minutes.

Beautiful cozy property with comfy beds

Loved the cozy beds, a/c, and laundry in unit. North shore is beautiful. Wish it wasn’t such a drive back into town on the east and south shores, but no matter what you’re still only 1.5 hours or less from almost everything on the island. We had a wonderful week in Kauai.

Property needs work, great location

Beautiful gardens and amazing location. The unit itself needs work. We arrived to a leaking sink in the kitchen, walls crumbling in several places, kitchen cabinet handles missing or falling off on about half the doors, particle board furniture in master bedroom being eaten away by tiny ants. Management was very responsive and had a general willingness to fix issues, but some of their answers were inaccurate (like telling me to look for things in a cabinet that doesn’t exist or not saying where exactly to find the crib even though I inquired ahead of time - had to make do without one for two days until someone could come and find it (or bring it in, not sure it was even there if a desperate mom couldn’t find it!)). There was also no dust pan for several days despite my multiple requests, which led to a maggots infestation and eventually to swarms of flies. All this made the stay rather stressful. The AC was nice to have, and the bathrooms were very clean and in good order, thank goodness.

Bliss found in Princeville, Kauai

Being so anxious to enjoy the island, we approached the condo with crossed fingers. Never to worry- it was perfect! The location and interiors were as listed. The amenities matched our needs and Jana, the owner, was wonderful. She was patient as I asked many questionsand proved to be a great resource. I am forever grateful to her, and to the ease ofbooking, etc. I will keep this location as my go to when I ever make a return trip to paradise!

Clean, Cozy and a Great North Shore Location

This is a great North Shore location for a price that can't be beat. The condo is cute, comfortable, clean and the owner was wonderful to work with. We have family in Princeville, but needed to make last minute arrangements for another place to stay due to a death in the family leaving many relatives needing lodging for the memorial. Jana was a gem to work with during this difficult time. To top it off, the location was perfect. For vacationers, the condo is a short walk to Anini Beach, a short drive to Hanalei, and so close to great north shore beaches and hikes. My only regret is taking so long to write the well-deserved praises for this place!

Perfect, even for the littlest kiddos!

Our family of four spent two weeks at Jana's Hawaiian home. Our kids (a 4 year-old and one year-old) LOVED the "beach-house," and so did we grown-ups. Her home was really easy to kid-proof and the closets provided hours of hide-and-seek entertainment! :-) Jana's home is gorgeous and was fully equipped with useful things for our family; beach gear, towels, a portable crib, an electric grill, and lots more. Every day our kiddos ran around in the grassy yard playing with limes they found under lime trees, chasing egrets and geckos, and sniffing tropical flowers. And after they went to bed, my husband and I sat outside on the lanai and soaked up the quiet. We can't wait to come back.

The inside of the unit is gorgeous.

Beautiful inside. Everything possible was provided. The bed was so comfortable! Beautiful walk in showers. It was pretty hot because the trades were low, so was a little shocked to have to pay extra for AC. Needed a couple more beach towells. Pool area is not very exciting. We were never given a unit number and could nor get a hold of the manager . We quessed it by looking at a pic from online. Overall a nice place to be conveniently located for North Shore activities. Beach access is a little sketchy - especially when muddy. I would recommend driving to Alini beach so you can bring all your gear.

Lovely except for the ants

Great location, quiet community, well-supplied. We had a problem with tiny ants that were everywhere in the kitchen from the moment we checked in. It was a Saturday and we immediately called and left a message with the property manager. Ants also in the bathrooms. Suffice it to say that the property manager's communications were terrible and reflected zero interest in addressing the problem. On our next to last day, someone finally offered to send a maintenance person over to take a look, but we did not want to interrupt our last day as we already has adopted strategies not to leave any food item unsecured.

Great Stay Overall

This was our second time renting a VRBO in Kauai and we enjoyed our stay at Pumana. The only hiccups we had were a miscommunication about parking and there were a bit more little ants than we expected. We made an effort to keep the kitchen countera clean, but there were little ants regardless. To be expected in a tropic climate, especially with the louver windows. The living room A/C and fans worked great. I can't speak for the master bedroom as we stayed in the green room, but the A/C in the smaller bedroom had a hard time keeping up despite it being a smaller room. Enjoyed using the washer and dryer, fully equipped kitchen (could use more food storage containers and baggies/foil/plastic wrap), and the beach and snorkel supplies. We also were bummed that there was no jacuzzi at Pumana, but definitely not a deal breaker for the price and experience. Got to experience lots of wildlife outside our door including chickens, Kane frogs, gecko/lizards, and cats. Thanks for having us!

Felt right at home in Kauai - would stay again

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed 5 nights (Nov. 4-8) at Kahuna Puamana 25A. We have stayed in many rentals over the years, and consider ourselves tough, but not snooty, reviewers. With 10 being perfect, our rating of 9 means nearly perfect. We agree with the comments of many previous reviewers that gave high ratings. The more one knows in advance (e.g., the age of the unit), the better are one’s expectations. We much prefer a “local” look and feel wherever we stay, and 25A was ideal for us. Our experience was wonderful and we would stay here again. Minor matters included none of the air conditioner filters being clean, kitchen window vane open/close mechanism needing repair, and a beach chair damaged by rust corrosion. With two vehicles (one with disability placard), parking was paramount for us, yet we were never able to get a clear understanding of what parking options were available beyond the one assigned parking space. The best we knew from property management was some visitor spaces at the nearby pool, and no placard spaces “by the pool or anywhere else in the parking lot.” Fortunately this information was not fully accurate. Upon arrival we learned there were visitor spaces near the 4 spaces allocated for Building 25, and there was a placard space at the pool, and one further away near Building 18. We strongly recommend (1) the Puamana Kauai map of the buildings be updated to show the location of placard spaces, (2) the VRBO website for 25A be updated to clearly state the renter’s parking space is any one of 4 parking spaces allocated and marked for Building 25, and (3) the VRBO website for 25A also be updated to clearly state there are visitor parking spaces along the roadway leading to Building 25. This is basic, convenient information that should be available in advance rather than through discovery or inquiry with owner or property management.

So homey and comfortable

Our family had a great stay here. There were four parking spots for building 25 residents, and you can park for free in one of those four designated spots. We really appreciated the thoughtful, homey touches like the stacks of Kauai guidebooks, decorative pieces, tea bags, coffee, and all the cooking essentials in the kitchen, and large drying rack in the back for our towels and swimsuits. It was extremely clean and roomy. Plenty of bath towels and beach towels. Wi-fi worked well for us. It was very convenient to have the washer and dryer in the unit. I contacted the owner ahead of time and was informed they don’t provide laundry detergent; however, previous guests may leave some behind which is the case for us. They only provide starter shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in each of the bathrooms, so if you are staying longer than a couple of days, you should consider bringing your own or plan to buy some locally. We also took full advantage of the lanai closet stuffed to the brim with snorkels, fins, three beach chairs, a beach umbrella, water shoes, coolers, and pool noodles. The only downside was that there weren’t a lot of restaurant options nearby that were open when we needed to get dinner between 5-7pm. The Foodland in the Princeville Shopping Center right by the entrance to Princeville was nice, but we had better luck driving further west to the cute tourist town of Hanalei to kayak and paddle-board on the Hanalei River, which ended up being one of our favorite activities in Kauai. Anini Beach near the rental was very peaceful and would be a great place to bring a packed lunch. All in all, we had a wonderful stay here.

Outstanding--So happy with our choice

I don't know where to begin or end because we just had such a positive experience. To start, Jana is an exceptionally attentive hostess. You see this easily in at least two ways. All communications were clear, prompt, helpful, and positive. The second is in the condo itself. We couldn't believe how well equipped the condo is. She has thought of everything and then some! The beach supplies are awesome...everything you could possibly need to have fun at the beach! Fresh fruit awaited us on our arrival. The condo was immaculately clean and the kitchen had everything you might need to make meals there if you wanted to. Try to go to the local markets and also to Costco (Lihue near airport) if you are a member because food is expensive in Kauai. Highly recommend Hideaways beach nearby though the walk down to it is somewhat slippery and steep. Worth it if you can get there though. Comfy bed! Also, it was like being in the country. This precise condo is a great spot. You don't hear traffic. You are not on the ocean but Princeville is on a cliff. We left the windows open all the time. No AC needed at all...lovely fresh air. I just felt so relaxed having a siesta each afternoon after some intense morning beach activity. Well, I better not write a novel...I will just say I highly recommend this condo if you want a well-equipped, quiet refuge for your vacation. Only thing you will hear are the famous Kauai Roosters! Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness Jana! I hope we can come back to your corner of paradise someday :)

Excellent place to stay in Kauai

The listing does not do justice to the place, which looks much better than the pictures show. The setting is pleasant, the Puamana complex is nice, quiet, low key, and very well maintained. The vegetation is splendid. There is a garden in the middle of the complex, from where you can cut flowers to put in a vase on your table, if so inclined. There are fruit trees scattered around and all the fruit is yours to pick. We picked limes, passion fruit, a pink grapefruit (the best I ever tasted) and a breadfruit, which I cooked. The unit itself was very clean and well appointed, every little detail was a pleasure. The kitchen had all the utensils one needs, and salt, pepper, spices, oil, vinegar, soya sauce, etc... Check it first before going for a food shopping expedition at the nearby Princeville Foodland (5 min by car, 20 min by foot-path). The service was impeccable - we called Claire, the manager, and everything was answered immediately to complete satisfaction. I recommend this property warmly. We went by foot to the sheltered Willie beach (by a nice path among trees, at the end of the adjacent Westin hotel), and from there over and around the rocks to Anini beach. We walked the Kalalau trail (not as muddy as others describe it), watched a splendid sunset at the Kee beach, visited the Lumahai botanical garden, visited the extra-fancy St.Regis Hotel (had to cross it to go to their beach) - not our style. We drove the Waimea canyon road and admired and photographed the views from the various outlooks on the way. Had a Friday evening in Hanapepe, with food street vendors and all the art galleries open (they do this every Friday, 5:00-9:00pm). Drove the dirt road to the west coast Polihale beach - amazing beach; we walked for 3 h (return trip) and did just a bit. It gives you that feeling that you can walk forever. Walked the Hanalei beach, with its beautiful mountain background, visited the Kilauea lighthouse. My husband and daughter took a surfing class at the Hanalei pier and a boat trip to see the Napali coast from the ocean and also dolphins and whales and they did some snorkeling/scuba diving as well. I walked a residential neighborhood, past Seagate lodge and filmed a beautiful albatros courting ritual.

Wonderful Stay
