Beachwalk 6 Bed/4.5 Bath FAMILY Getaway - 3rd house from Lake Shore

Shore Thing is located near the beautiful sandy beaches of Lake Michigan, in a prime Beachwalk location (3rd house from Lake Shore Drive!). The house is located in the acclaimed Beachwalk community.

Shore Thing has six bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms, plus sofa bed in the finished basement. We have plenty of space for your family get-together, with plenty of bedrooms and plenty of gathering and entertaining space inside and outside! Plus, the perfect location close to Lake Michigan and the Beachwalk pool. Shore Thing is one of only a handful of wheelchair accessible homes in Beachwalk, so everyone in the family can be included in the fun!

The first floor has an open plan with the kitchen and living room, with plenty of space for the entire family to gather. Eat in kitchen, 4 seats at the kitchen island, 10 seats at the reclaimed wood kitchen table. The living room has a fireplace and Smart TV with YouTube HDTV. The finished basement features another separate large living area, with ping pong table, wet bar, full bath, board games, HDTV, and Nintendo Wii gaming system. The basement sectional also has a pull out couch.

There are also plenty of outdoor spaces for the family to enjoy! The front lower porch is screened in and has a picnic table for six with additional seating. We have a brand new large Weber natural gas grill. The upper porch has seating and views of Beachwalk Lane, and the 3rd floor porch has views of the dunes and across Beachwalk.

Shore Thing is child friendly with booster seat, pack n' play, and ample games and toys. We also have beach chairs, coolers, and wagons.

There are 6 bedrooms across 3 floors, 2 on the first floor, 3 on the second floor, and 1 on the third floor, plus a sofa bed in the basement.

The master suite has a king bed, plus the private master bath with a large newly renovated bathroom and access to the 2nd floor deck. The second floor also features a queen bedroom, with access to a private back deck, and to the "Jack N Jill" bedroom. And the 3rd bedroom on the second floor is set up for the kids with a twin-over-full that also adjoins the Jack-N-Jill. All three second floor bedrooms have flat-screen smart TVs.

On the 3rd floor there is a daybed with trundle, the perfect escape for the tweens, older cousins or the aunts or uncles who need some space. The 3rd floor also has a desk for the family member who needs to check in at the office during the vacation (hey, it happens!), Smart TV, and access to the 3rd floor deck with gorgeous views! Conference calls or maybe some yoga al fresco, anyone?

The first floor has two bedrooms. The wheelchair-friendly bedroom has a queen bed and full bath with accessible sink and shower. And a kid-friendly bedroom with twin over full bunk beds.

Captain Jack's Loft sleeps 4 with a queen bed and sofa bed, plus bath and full kitchen (Listing 1533858). Contact us if you need space for a bigger group, we have discounts for groups booking multiple properties!

The Beachwalk community features various amenities unique to our community. Highlights are the pool and kiddie pool, basketball court, tennis courts, playground, cafe, and man made Lake Kai that is ideal for family fishing, kayaking, or paddle boarding.

While Lake Michigan steps away is the major highlight, there is so much more to experience in the surrounding area! Shore Thing is located less than one and a half miles from Washington Park, the Michigan City Zoo, The Blue Chip Casino, and Lighthouse Place Outlet Mall. Just down the road is Mt. Baldy (a fun, easy family hike!) and the Indiana Dunes National Park. Slightly further are many more beaches in southwest Michigan, and many breweries and wineries! Great restaurants and shopping can be found in Downtown Michigan City and every town in Southwest Michigan.

Fun, Food, Family

Three generations enjoyed the home. Grateful for the ramp and wagon to move kids and STUFF to and from pool. Beach sunsets, ice cream and day trips to surrounding little towns made this a wonderful vacation.

Great location and house for family fun

We loved the house in Michigan City. It was a cool weather weekend but the walk to the beach was very easy. It rained one day but the house is equipped with a family friendly basement! Jason was very quick to respond to any question we had. Great host!

Terrific family getaway property

My family and I spent the weekend here celebrating my mom's 75th b-day. With ages ranging from 2-75 years, I had to make sure the property would be comfortable enough for all and spacious for the teens and kids to run around/hang out. The home was well-stocked with kitchen essentials, rooms were comfortable and the property allowed everyone to have fun for the weekend. Would highly recommend.

Exactly what we were looking for

We spent a week here with our three adult children, their spouses and our 4 grandchildren ages 5 and under. It was noisy, hectic and there were lots of tears and laughs. There was good space for everyone and we all enjoyed the beach, the pool and other nearby attractions. The house was clean, well stocked and just as advertised. We cooked all our meals at the house and the kitchen was easy to navigate. Would absolutely stay there again.

We traveled as a party of 9! Grandparents, parents, and kiddos of all ages. Location and amenities were fantastic. The house and property were amazing! The beach was fantastic and so easy to get to. 10 out of 10 recommended. We would have loved to stay another week!

When we arrived trash bins were full and did not get emptied until late Friday. We thought they would return them along house but did not so we moved them before checking out. Parking was pretty tight

Fabulous house and location

The house is clean and beautiful. Table fit all nine of us and downstairs ping-pong table was a great hit. Close to the walk way to the beach. Went swimming every day. Sandy Beach, warm water. One day of bigger waves, but mostly gentle. Watched beautiful sunsets. Would definitely do this again.

Whether you’re 7 or 77, or somewhere in the between…

Our family ranges in age from 7 to 77, half male / female, and there is something for everyone! A perfect location and one of just a few that are handicap accessible. The screened in front porch is loaded with beach goodies. A well designed kitchen for meal prep and consumption, with a large table for gathering and games greets you as you enter. And things only get better with multiple bedrooms and baths (2 on the main floor) to accommodate all. We hope to return next summer!

Perfect for our extended family

We had a wonderful week of celebrating my husband’s birthday with the family. Everybody had a great time. The location was easy to get to and the Beachwalk community was perfect to suit our needs. The house was clean and well equipped. So much activities packed in a week, the lake and beach, pool, tennis, hiking, biking, shopping, kayaking, and of course reading.

First Lake Trip

Very well appointed house with lots of room. Wonderful memories made. Great location on Beachwalk with easy access to beach and pool/rec complex. Accessibility for our disabled family member was a must and this location did not disappoint.

Vacation at Shore Thing

Our extended family was able to meet in a central location and enjoy Lake Michigan and the Beachwalk community. Shore Thing is handicap accessible (with a zero entry shower with seat) on the main floor which was very helpful for my 80-year-old father who uses a walker. The beach is very close which meant that we could go back and forth from the house to the beach quite often. The owners were very accommodating and met our needs promptly..

Three generations together for one week in one house for a vacation is a grandparent's blessing. This house is logistically easy to navigate and stocked with supplies. Great access to beach, pool, restaurants, stores, markets, ice cream, fruit orchards, and most importantly, the t-shirt factory. It helps you make memories.

Loved Our Stay!

We loved our stay at Shore Thing!! The owners were very responsive to any needs we had & were very easy to work with. The house is located within walking distance to the beach, pool, ice cream shop & the neighborhood was just adorable! This house was comfortable, pretty & very well stocked with plates, silverware, glassware, towels, more than any home we've ever rented. The layout was perfect for our large group & we spent a lot of time eating & playing cards around the large kitchen table as well as the screened in porch. Plenty of bathrooms, comfortable beds, cozy linens & a few upstairs decks for a little getaway spot! Our kids enjoyed playing ping pong in the finished basement & we made good use of the washer & dryer as well as the extra refrigerator down there. We so appreciated the wagon that was provided to help us get all our chairs, umbrellas & other supplies down to the beach. If you're planning a trip to Lake Michigan, we would highly recommend the Beachwalk community & beautiful Shore Thing for your group!

The best week!

This house is even better than described and pictured. Our entire family loved it, as well as the Beachwalk community. The location of the house is also ideal- very close to the beach and coffee shop, which our teenagers enjoyed. The house was beautiful and clean, with anything that you may need for your stay (except beach towels, as mentioned in the description). Our teenage girls loved reading in the late afternoon in the hammock on the second floor deck. The boys loved the ping pong table in the basement. My husband and I walked every morning in the beachwalk community and loved the way it is planned out and all of the pretty homes. We didn’t use the pool because we are beach people. We are already planning a return trip to Shore thing. Oh and the property owners were super responsive and helpful with answering all of our questions.

A Winner!

The new owner is very responsive via text and email. Shore Thing is a good place for a large-ish group- we had 13 ranging in age from 2-70, and all were comfortably accommodated. Plenty of entertainment options for all... ping pong, Wii, and such at the house plus all the amenities of Beachwalk. We're headed back next year.

Family vacation!

It was our first time visiting Michigan City and we loved it! The house was perfect for us and the location near the beach, pool, and tennis courts were awesome! The little ones especially loved the donuts in the morning and I e cream at night!

We are a family from Chicagoland who found Beachwalk when looking for a place to get-away and enjoy nature. We love that it's just a short drive but in the summer months it feels like a tropical paradise! There is so much for everyone in the family to enjoy, from time on the beach, swimming, nature hikes, fishing, tennis, basketball, and nearby wineries, breweries, shopping, casinos, and more!

Why they chose this property

We love the location of this home, the third house from Lakeshore Drive. It is so close to walk to the beach and to the pool, and you don't have to worry about a golf cart! This house has so much space for the family to gather but also have privacy in 6 separate bedrooms.
