About this property

The Wine Bungalow on Leelanau Peninsula

Retreat to the heart of Leelanau Wine Country!
Unwind with your loved ones in this open & inviting bungalow nestled in a nook of hardwoods. With 4 modern bedrooms, each having access to a full bathroom, this property is perfect for a 4 couple get-a-way or 2 small families.
Approximately 15 min to downtown Traverse City, home to several beaches, kayak & bike rentals, decadent local restaurants, and unique shops.
Over 30 wineries at your “back door” with the closest one, Mawby, only 1 mile away!

The Wine Bungalow has a beautiful European winery feel with modern touches. A total interior remodel was completed May 2021.

The layout is spacious, with natural wood finishes, white granite custom countertops, and splashes of color throughout. Every room has a marvelous view of nature surrounding the home.

Everything in the Wine Bungalow is brand new, including; walls, fresh paint, flooring, bathrooms with tiled showers, a glorious kitchen/great room, wet bar, light fixtures, furniture, decor, linens, appliances, and outdoor deck.

There are 2 cozy sitting areas, one on the main floor and one on the lower level. There is a large gathering space on the main floor with a unique shaped kitchen island, adjacent to the wet bar and steps away from a slider opening to the new deck overlooking a lovely wooded knoll.

All 4 bedrooms have a queen bed and access to a full bathroom; 2 en suite and 2 bedrooms share 1 bathroom. (3 full baths in all)

Our goal is to create a super comfortable, luxurious Northern Michigan "get-a-way". Allowing guests to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The Wine Bungalow is a perfect spot to breathe in the pure Up North air, sip on a glass of award winning local wine and let your vacation begin!

The Wine Bungalow has a very desirable location; it’s on the Leelanau Wine Trail, 5 minutes to adorable downtown Suttons Bay, 1 mile from majestic Grand Traverse Bay, easy access to the TART trail, 15 minutes to Traverse City, near Leelanau Sands Casino, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and many golf courses and inland lakes!

Weekend Getaway

Perfect place for a weekend girls’ trip! The house was clean, cute, and spacious. Although not a super walkable area, it was easy to get to anything you wanted - our favorite winery was only one mile away!

A truly outstanding experience!

Wow! What a great time we had at the Wine Bungalow! The house was beautiful & well appointed with all the amenities we needed to make us feel right at home! Great beds! (We all slept like the dead every night;) The kitchen was loaded with everything my cooking husband needed, plus more! With all the great wineries just around the corner, we had lots to do, sip and see. Hansen’s grocery store in Sutton’s Bay is where we did our food shopping, since it’s just down the road. Lovely store & the employees were so nice! What a breath of fresh air! We’ve stayed at many VRBO’s & the Wine Bungalow was by far the coolest, most fun, swanky & memorable time! We will all be back for sure!! -The Valentines family and Friends ❤️

No AC

There was no AC at the house and it was very very hot (in the mid/high 80’s). I wish the listing of the house would have said there was no AC or we would not have stayed there- or the owners should have told us.

Winter Wonderland

We had a wonderful winter weekend at the Wine Bungalow. The home is beautiful, perfect for our family & friends. Location is great. We rented fat tire bikes from Einstein Cycles in TC and they delivered them. We rode the Leelanau Trail to HopLot Brewing Co where we rented an igloo. Ride back was a bit harder given its a slight elevation gain but all in all such a fun beautiful ride. We also hit the sledding hill which was a pleasant surprise. We look forward to returning!

Beautiful Bungalow in the Leelanau peninsula, close to all the wineries. Perfect for a wine tasting weekend with family and friends! We had an amazing time, Heather and her partner were great hosts and had everything you would need for a nice weekend getaway available.

Great Location, Big Bedrooms, Tight Common Area for Eight

Had a nice week long stay. Location is very good, within a quick drive of much of what the Leelanau peninsula has to offer with beautiful cherry orchards across the street, wineries within a mile, and quiet neighborhood. The bedrooms were plenty big for our group of six adults, an infant, and a toddler but the common areas were tight for a party our size- theoretically eight adults could sit around the center kitchen island but there is just seating for six at the table on the outdoor deck and the living room has loveseat space for just four. A heat wave when we arrived and the fact that three of the bedrooms are in a basement made central air a feature to have been desired to help combat the hot upstairs and mustiness down, but once things cooled down later in the week ceiling fans and the provided box fan helped keep things more comfortable. Overall a pleasant experience.

The house was extremely clean and very well organized. It had all the essentials anyone would need.

The house was very close to so many local attractions. You can tell the owners methodically thought about how to lay the house out and what supplies to provide to give their guests the best accommodations possible.

I LOVE to travel and I LOVE using vacation rentals!
I first tried Airbnb in 2015 as a guest on a 3 week trip to Italy. Instead of staying in traditional hotels, we decided to immerse our selves in the culture and stay right where the locals lived. It was amazing! We stayed in Rome, Florence, Casale Monferrato and Venice.
Upon returning to the States, my former husband and I decided to become hosts ourselves! We shared our beautiful, one of a kind home in the woods, in Traverse City, MI. We had just finished remodeling it from a Girl Scout Lodge to a family home. We also had an adorable cottage on the property that we listed, and rented them both successfully for 4 years.
After we sold that property, I bought another home in the woods where my 4 children and I live. I continue to love hosting people from all around the world that want to experience their travels as a local.
I am very excited to have a second listing coming May 2021. Both properties are perfectly located to access the 30-some exquisite wineries on the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail. The Woodland Goddess Estate & The Wine Bungalow.
I am a practicing chiropractor, entrepreneur and active Mother. My parter and I love exploring new places and traveling the world, especially the tropics to scuba dive.

Why they chose this property

The Wine Bungalow is located on the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail. Within 3 miles are Black Star Farms, Mawby, Ciccone, Willow Vineyards, Shady Lane Cellars, and Suttons Bay Ciders.
Only a 1/2 mile to the TART bike trail that connects Suttons Bay to Traverse City. 3/4 of mile to Grand Traverse West Bay and M22. About 30 minutes from Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore.
