I highly recommend this property, host kathleen is wonderful and the property itself is comfortable, clean and makes you forget your not home. Thanks Kathleen!
The home is lovely. Quiet farm area with quick access to shopping, food, and entertainment. The house had all of the amenities we needed and was very comfortable. Will for sure be staying again in the future.
Peaceful and beautiful. Convenient to all Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area locations. The owners are THE BEST hosts. Our family has stayed here multiple times. We’re always thankful to be able to stay in such a clean, comfortable, and well equipped home.
Perfect stay in rural Amana country. House was very homey, clean and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Hostess was great and her brother who we met is a great guy!! Wonderful place to stay!
Stop the clock was the perfect stay for our family. Only a short drive to our event in Coralville. A big yard for our two young boys to play. Loved the farm county. The Host family members we talked to were all very friendly. Would recommend to others that prefer a simple home instead of a hotel.
We stayed for family reasons. All live in vicinity, so it made a good place for our base.
The property was great and the hospitality of the host was fabulous.
Beautiful views out every window. Peaceful and quiet. We love staying here each time we come to the Iowa City area. Thank you for always making us feel welcome!
We had a wonderful time - very pleasant and relaxing. As we have relatives in the area, it was a great place for us to gather. The patio is awesome, great views including a huge old oak tree. We spent a lot of time there - coffee & breakfast in the morning, dinner in the evening. We’ll be back!
Stop The Clock is a cozy, clean house, with a great view. We loved coming "home" each night from busy wedding activities. The beds are very comfortable. We also loved waking up to watch the sun rise as we sat and drank our coffees at the kitchen counter. Kathleen is the best host, so friendly and helpful. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. We are from out of state, and she even helped us find the best local pizza place for our son's wedding rehearsal dinner. Everything was perfect!
We had a wonderful, comfortable stay. The setting was very quiet, everything we needed was on site and when a problem arose help was on the way immediately. Great experience. Thank you very much.
Location Location Location on this one! A Beautiful country home surrounded by farm land. We even got awesome farm fresh tomatoes delived to our door. If you are looking for a relaxing beautiful country home this one is for you. It made our getaway!
My best friend and I were looking for a quiet weekend away and this property delivered!
The house was so clean and well cared for. It felt like visiting grandma’s house. We loved it!
Add to it a beautifully cared for lawn and yard surrounded by fields and horses!
The location was so close to Iowa City, but we felt like we were so much further away.
The owner left a binder full of information - including the story of the house and it was beyond helpful!
She was also incredibly responsive and helpful.
Stop the Clock’s location is perfect. We have stayed in this beautiful home several times. The location provides easy access to Cedar Rapids/Marion and all Iowa City area destinations. The best part is the PEACE and QUIET! The farm is so beautiful. The mornings are tranquil here, especially with a nice cup of coffee, looking out at the Iowa landscape. After visiting friends and family all day, we love to come back to the house and enjoy the peaceful property.
Thank you for the wonderful hospitality!
Lovely home about 15 minutes away from the facility one of my athlete was competing in in Coralville (just outside of Iowa City).
Check in was a breeze, and there was plenty of space inside and outside to walk around and enjoy the time we had outside of competition.
Wifi was free, and fast enough to stream Netflix on the television as well as other things on the laptop at the same time.
Plenty of room available for cooking and dining.
Would highly recommend for anyone that wants to be close to Iowa City, but far enough to be able to relax without all the noise and bustle of the city.
Stop the Clock was the perfect getaway place to celebrate my parents 44th wedding anniversary. The house was immaculate and it felt so homey and inviting. Sitting on the patio and listening to birds chirp and the occasional cow moo was perfect! We loved hiking at FW Kent which was right down the road. We also took the ride to Maquoketa Caves State Park which was amazing! We also went to Lake Macbride State Park and Palisades-Kepler State Park which were also close enough by and beautiful to see. I would highly recommend Stop the Clock and hope to stay there again!
We had a great time staying at “stop the clock”. It is reminiscent of a time when life seamed a little simpler, more peaceful, and less hurried. It is close enough to Iowa city to be convenient, yet far enough to enjoy some country charm. It was a weekend well spent!
Nice place...very clean. Love being out of town/like it our house back in MN.
Easy to rent...great communication.
make the drive to Pella for the vermeer Windmill...take the tour

About the host
Hosted by Kathleen Zimmerman
Family of six siblings offering parents' former residence for short-term rentals. Extremely clean and well-maintained property. Built by a modest farm couple who believed in quality, endurance, and taking good care of everything they worked for.
Why they chose this property
Originally a working farm; house designed toward retirement; well-maintained; a glimpse of the 80's; functional, comfortable, home-like.
